China Buys SF Publisher

This acquisition of an old science fiction publishing house by what appears to be SJWs funded by Chinese money should provide some amusement going forward:

New York, May 19, 2020 – The formation of Astra Publishing House was announced today by COO and Publisher Ben Schrank. “The time is right for a new publishing house that’s deeply committed to progressive values and that champions authors from all corners of the world. Astra Publishing House’s foremost aim is to build bridges between readers and writers in all nations, and I’m so excited to be part of a venture that speaks to an increasing necessity for a shared global consciousness.”

Astra Publishing House is comprised of Astra House, an entirely new adult trade publisher of American and international literary fiction and poetry, and mission-driven nonfiction.

These guys make Castalia House, which has been around since 2014, look decidedly old school.

In big news for science fiction and fantasy publishing, DAW Books is no longer an independently owned publisher. This morning, Astra Publishing House announced its acquisition of the storied SFF imprint.

In a press release, DAW co-publishers (and, until today, owners) Betsy Wollheim and Sheila Gilbert said, “We are extremely pleased by Astra’s enthusiasm, and thrilled that we will be the sole SFF imprint of their company (a first for DAW). We think this is the perfect fit for us, and it’s exciting and refreshing to be an integral part of a new and growing company. It speaks volumes about Astra’s respect for our company that they have included our entire staff. We’re very happy.”

Previously, DAW was partnered with Penguin Random House, which distributed DAW’s titles. (PRH also distributes Astra Publishing House’s books.)

DAW Books was founded in 1971 by Donald A. Wollheim and his wife, Elsie B. Wollheim. It was the first imprint exclusively devoted to science fiction and fantasy, and over the years has published more than 2000 books from a long list of well-regarded authors, including Patrick Rothfuss, Tad Williams, Melanie Rawn, Tanith Lee, Nnedi Okorafor, and Seanan McGuire.

Something isn’t adding up here. As a general rule, China doesn’t tolerate SJWs very well. For example, Disney can’t release its Marvel movies in China anymore. So, it will be fascinating to see where this goes, especially given the specific mention of that “mission-driven” motivation.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Astra makes a bid for Tor soon as well.

Fox News Executive Dies Suddenly at 47 After Heart Attack

Fox News Senior Vice President of News & Politics Alan Komissaroff passed away on Friday, according to the network. The 47-year-old channel executive died after a heart attack that occurred two weeks ago, according to a GoFundMe organized by a family friend. “This is an extremely difficult day for all of us who worked closely with Alan, and we are completely heartbroken,” Fox News Media President Jay Wallace and CEO Suzanne Scott said of their colleague’s death in a memo provided to Fox employees.

“He was the ultimate producer: breaking news, politics, special events — there was no steadier or more trusted colleague to be with in the control room during the most consequential events of our time, and his incisiveness and passion for news made our work better.” Komissaroff worked for Fox News from the channel’s inception in 1996.

Those who ride with the Black Rider are always surprised when they’re flung from his high horse and left to die. Which never ceases to amaze me, because that’s how it always ends for those who ride with him. He doesn’t hate those who serve him any less, he just despises them as well.

But I suppose if they weren’t retards, they wouldn’t serve him in the first place.

I have a lot of sympathy for the averaged vaxxed individual. They simply did as they were told by authorities they trusted. But I have none for people like this guy, who was actively involved in pushing it on others, and even attempting to force it on them through corporate and government mandates.

Finally, I feel I would be remiss if I failed to point out the fact that Big Bear can’t tell what real goat skin feels like is further proof that he’s living on a homestead set in Los Angeles, not in Idaho. At this point, I think we almost have to ask the obvious question: is he even a real bear?

US Disavows Navy SEAL

Do they seriously think no one has ever seen Mission Impossible or SEAL Team? We all know that the posthumous disavowing of a special forces operative or an intelligence agent doesn’t mean that the individual wasn’t on a government-sanctioned mission.

The US Navy confirmed on Friday that a member of the elite SEAL force was killed in eastern Ukraine, but said that Naval Special Warfare Operator Daniel Swift was in “active deserter status.” Swift died on January 18 from injuries sustained in combat with Russian forces, an unnamed US Navy official told reporters in a background briefing.

This means that World War III is already hot, if only on a small scale. US soldiers have been fighting in Ukraine against Russian forces for weeks, if not months. I suspect we’re eventually going to learn that there have been a lot of “active deserters” who have been operating as “foreign mercenaries” in Ukraine.

“Active deserter status” = black ops.

UPDATE: Swift is the sixth US citizen to be confirmed killed in Ukraine by the State Department.

Let’s look at what happens when someone signs on the dotted line with a Conservative Inc company like The Daily Wire. Jordan Peterson did just that several months ago. The first videos Peterson released after joining The Daily Wire chastised Muslims and Christians with criticism and scolding. Noticeably he provided none of the same complaints and scolding to people of the Jewish faith. Instead, he is now making trips to Israel, crying on stage, praising them, and doing glowing interviews with Benjamin Netanyahu. This is what it looks like to sell your soul for money and become a dancing clown for Ben Shapiro and Israel.

Last fall, Ye came under scrutiny from the media for expressing similar concerns to Crowder with certain music industry contracts that were equally exploitative. Ye was then promptly banned from social media, bank accounts, and much more for criticizing the group of people behind these contracts.

As it turns out, the same group of people are behind Steven Crowder’s exploitative term sheet offer from The Daily Wire. So, it appears Ye indeed had a point about exploitative contracts from Jewish media moguls. These are the facts, and the gatekeepers at Conservative Inc don’t want you to discuss these uncomfortable truths. It’s not Christians running these companies and making these deals. Ye told you who is running them, and they destroyed him for it.

When Ye’s friend Candace Owens, who works for The Daily Wire, went to bat to defend him, Ben Shapiro quickly put her in her place to stop it. Signing on the dotted line with The Daily Wire means you are forbidden from discussing topics that make Ben Shapiro uncomfortable. Topics that are essential to breaking down the problems in our society and that are culturally, spiritually, and politically relevant. Taking the deal with the Devil means you must shut your mouth about these topics and must leave your friends and principles hanging under the bus.

I’ve had my differences with Torba in the past. Our falling out – at a time when he had written the original foreword to SJWS ALWAYS DOUBLE DOWN – was real, serious, and substantive. We’ve since sorted out those differences, and one thing we definitely now have in common is that neither of us has any interest whatsoever in cooperation with Conservative Inc.

And I can confirm that he definitely knows what he’s talking about here. He’s been offered the world on a platter, just like Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson, Candace Owens, Milo Yiannopoulos, William F. Buckley, and others before, and he had the integrity to turn it down because he quite rightly values his immortal soul more than the filthy and fake digital debt they are offering for it.

Last summer, I said that to be a leader or influencer on the right, you need to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and be a Christian. I said in no uncertain terms that people like Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson have no place in any serious right-wing movement and resistance to the Regime unless they become Christians. I got a lot of flack for this from the media and many people on the right, but I stand by it, and now you see why.

He’s absolutely right. I don’t pay serious attention to any commentator who is not a Christian anymore, because non-Christians in the West have literally no ability to understand the nature of the global geopolitical conflict or the reason for the decline and coming collapse of the United States. And failing to understand either of those things, their analyses are always incorrect and usually irrelevant.

Puzzled by the Productivity Slump

Clown World’s economists are perplexed by the “strange and awful” 50-year decline in US construction productivity.

Measurement error alone cannot explain the decline in US construction productivity over the last 50 years, with evidence pointing to the sector’s deteriorating ability to transform intermediates into finished products, and to the allocative inefficiency of construction inputs.

Despite aggregate productivity for the US economy having doubled over the past 50 years, the country’s construction sector has diverged considerably, trending downward throughout that period. And this is no slight decrease. Raw BEA data suggest that the value added per worker in the construction sector was about 40 percent lower in 2020 than in 1970 (see Figure 1).

How can a sector like construction, with average value-added of 4.3 percent of GDP between 1950 and 2020, experience such a precipitous decline in productivity relative to the rest of the economy? To answer this question, researchers have focused on issues relating to data measurement, hypothesizing that measurement errors largely explain this phenomenon. This new research updates some of those efforts and, importantly, extends them to investigate other hypotheses to find the following:

Using measures of physical productivity in housing construction (i.e., number of houses or total square footage built per employee), the authors confirm that productivity is indeed falling or, at best, stagnant over multiple decades. Importantly, these facts are not explained by the incidence of price measurement problems. Instead of data error, the authors investigate two other possible explanations. First, they find that the construction sector’s ability to transform intermediate goods into finished products has deteriorated.

And second, the authors describe the curious fact that producers located in more-productive areas do not grow at expected rates. Indeed, rather than construction inputs flowing to areas where they are more productive, the activity share of these areas either stagnates or even falls. The authors suggest that this problem with allocative efficiency may accentuate the aggregate productivity problem for the industry.

Interestingly enough, US hourly wages have also been stagnant since 1972. Now, whatever could possibly have happened to the labor force that would make it less productive?

It couldn’t possibly be immigration effecting a qualitative change in the workforce, could it? It’s not possible that a predominantly white male work force might be more productive than a sexually diverse, nationally diverse work force, right? No, surely not, because we are reliably informed that immigration is always good for the economy. Just maybe not for wages and productivity and per capita wealth.

But the resultant growth in debt and spending makes up for it, so it’s all good, right?

Even while Clown World is collapsing and burning before their eyes, these wicked morons will be convinced that everything is fine because their spreadsheets produce the expected numbers.

Hollywood star Jamie Lee Curtis has deleted an Instagram post after followers noticed a photo in the background depicting a naked child stuffed in a box. In her original Instagram post, the actress revealed she tested positive for COVID. She also explained why she posted a picture of her office, though she didn’t address the bizarre photo in the background.

“Ok. This is a weird post. But I have Covid, so f*ck it. During one of the SAG nomination panels for @everythingeverywheremovie I told the story of how I ended up with my office furnished with my beautiful Pollack chairs from that movie,” she wrote.

“I mentioned if people followed me, that was not a cheap trick to try to get people to boost my numbers, but I couldn’t figure out how else to get the picture out into the world, that I would post a picture of them on my IG in my offices for @comet.pictures and I am a truth teller so here you go.”

Why They Take the Ticket

Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing published a video Thursday disclosing and discussing a binding contract the company offered to podcast host Steven Crowder. The contract reveals that Daily Wire offered Crowder $50 million over four years. The deal included a two-year company option that, if exercised, would continue to pay Crowder $12.5 million a year.

Boreing expressed this was DW’s opening bid. The company was likely to bid — much — higher during negotiations, he states. Boreing posted the video in response to comments Crowder made on Tuesday about an unnamed conservative media company offering him a contract that contained, what he described as, penalties if Big Tech were to demonetize his content.

Crowder accused the company of enabling censorship with the following terms:

“If any of the major platforms (e.g. YouTube, Facebook, Apple Podcasts, Spotify) issues a content strike (other than a “companywide” content strike) such that Crowder content cannot be monetized on such platform, and the company is not able to resolve the issue within 90 days, then the fee will be reduced by 25% from that point forward.”

Precisely, the contract would allow the company to reduce Crowder’s salary if a content strike were to decrease the revenues the brand could generate from his program. For background, Crowder boasts nearly 6 million subscribers on YouTube. He has notoriously feuded with the video service over demonetization, censorship, and suspensions.

This makes it clear why YouTube banishes people like Owen Benjamin. He was over 300k subscribers when he was banned, and he probably would have been well over 1 million subscribers by now, which would have been worth about $2 million annually from a ticket-distributor like Daily Wire.

Of course, the money isn’t actually real, as evidenced by the fact that it has to be returned to sender upon the relocation of the ticket taker to Hell. Make no mistake. This isn’t genuine success. This is the satanic illusion of success that is on offer as bait.

That is why I always find it mystifying when people claim that I am jealous of the likes of John Scalzi, Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, or Steven Crowder. Because you literally could not pay me to take their place.
