The Right Alternative

It’s all but a dead letter now, but this little photo montage from Twitter should suffice to demonstrate why the American Alt-White’s Master Plan to embrace a long-defunct German political ideology was, in a word, retarded.

Is it fair? Not particularly. So what? It’s funny and effective. It is excellent rhetoric. It’s the first time the Left has outmemed the Right in ages, and all because some amateurs thought they were playing underwater 5D chess. Sometimes, what looks stupid is just stupid.

And while the media’s power is on the decline, it is still formidable. They should not be feared, but they should not be trusted or dismissed as irrelevant either. Richard Spencer thought he could play the media, but he learned the hard way that they played him instead. If your marketing plan ends up with you being beaten, in public, to the applause of tens of thousands of people, you should probably rethink your strategy and its underlying assumptions.

None of this will have any effect on the rise of the Alt-Right; the media’s attempt to paint us as National Socialists will only build interest in us and sabotage their own credibility because their claims are observably false. Which, of course, is precisely why they are afraid to run my answers to their own questions about the Alt-Right. Indeed, the mere disclosure of an interview I did today would be sufficient to shatter their false Narrative like a nuke in a Waterford Crystal factory.

We don’t need to dance for the media to win. We don’t need to play-act or engage in theatrics. We need to do nothing more than speak the truth without fear. Liberalism has failed. Conservatism has failed. Neoconservatism has failed. Communism has failed. Secular liberal democracy has failed. Multiculturalism has failed. Feminism has failed. Progressivism has failed.

The Alt-Right is the Right Alternative.

The coming death of big publishing

It’s coming, and it’s coming much faster than anyone is really prepared for. Item One: Castalia author Nick Cole visits Barnes & Noble:

The other day I popped in to a big Barnes & Noble anchor store inside a high traffic entertainment complex called the Spectrum down in Irvine, California. The rest of the world may be experiencing some kind of recession as a result of Obama’s disastrous economic policies as is now being admitted by all sides, but Southern California barely shows the effects. Unless you know where to look.

So, I just wanted to cruise the science fiction section, and of course see if any of my books were in stock, and look around and see if there was anything interesting to pick up.

This is just an update on an unfolding disaster I’ve talked about before regarding the science fiction section at Barnes and Noble.

It’s a disaster. Seriously.

The science fiction section consisted of  three small shelves, badly, and fully, stocked with some standard big hitters for sure-fire sales.  But there wasn’t enough evidence in those three tiny half-aisles that spoke exciting and aggressive growth in the genre. It felt stale. It felt old. It felt Soviet. It felt defeated.  Maybe that was because it was stuck on the second floor, back near the bathroom.  You know where they keep all the best selllers and the sexiest books

Hint: No they don’t.

No, this particular placement for the once-vaunted science fiction section, a staple they kept so many bookstores alive with the trade of the faithful binge-buying junkie science fiction readers cleaning them out,  is now relegated to the smelly back of the store.  It seemed like some sort of discount holdover section no bookseller wanted to be sent into to organize. There was no love. It was forsaken.

Of course it is, because modern mainstream science fiction isn’t science fiction at all, but social justice fiction, as Barnes & Noble itself will confirm. Item Two: B&N blogger Joel Cunningham lists 20 Sci-Fi & Fantasy Books with a Message of Social Justice:

From The Time Machine to Kirk and Uhura‘s unprecedented kiss, speculative fiction has often concerned itself with breaking barriers and exploring issues of race, inequality, and injustice. The fantastical elements of genre, from alien beings to magical ones, allow writers to confront controversial issues in metaphor, granting them a subversive power that often goes unheralded. On this, the day we celebrate the birth of Martin Luther King, Jr., let us consider 20 novels that incorporate themes of social justice into stories that still deliver the goods—compelling plots, characters you’ll fall in love with, ideas that will expand your mind. Let’s imagine a day when the utopian ideals of Star Trek are more than just the stuff of science fiction.

They’ll have to imagine it, because it has zero relevance to the society of the future, which is much more likely to resemble the Reavers of Firefly than the neutered pantsuits of Star Trek. I was shocked the last time I visited my favorite Barnes & Noble, and that was more than 12 years ago. What had once been a large, healthy, well-stocked SF/F section – and one that carried both my books at the time – had somehow been shrunk into two bookshelves, one of which was entirely filled with graphic novels and television-show tie-in novels. Most of the rest of the “science fiction” novels had covers that looked like romance novels. I can’t even imagine what it looks like now.

Anyhow, in light of Nick’s prediction, it is interesting to observe that at least one mainstream publisher is attempting to think outside the box, as Macmillan has set up Pronoun, a pan-channel ebook distribution system that pays 70 percent on all digital sales, which compares well with Amazon’s Amazon-only 68.5 percent. It’s a pretty good deal, although it is probably five years too late in coming, as I strongly suspect another system, from a much more formidable player, is already in development.

And finally, since I mentioned graphic novels, I would be remiss if I failed to mention that one for Quantum Mortis is in the works.

Identity politics are here to stay

And there is no place for white people in the Democratic Party:

Candidates aspiring to take over as chairman of the Democratic National Committee met Monday night to discuss what went wrong in 2016 and how to get the party back on track. Early into the event the candidates gravitated toward a particular scapegoat for the party’s poor showing in November: Political consultancies owned by white people.

“We have to stop, particularly with the consultants,” said the chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, Jaime Harrison. “You cannot come to the DNC and get a contract and the only minority face you have is the person answering the phone.”

Minority consultants “need to get the same resources that the white consultants have gotten,” said a Fox News analyst and candidate for the chairmanship, Jehmu Greene. “The DNC did a piss poor, pathetic job” attracting minorities, she said.

Democrats must provide “training” that focuses in part on teaching Americans “how to be sensitive and how to shut their mouths if they are white,” urged the executive director of Idaho’s Democratic Party, Sally Boynton Brown, who is white.

The event’s moderator, MSNBC’s Joy Ann Reid, asked the candidates how the party should handle the Black Lives Now movement.

The candidates uniformly emphasized that the party must embrace the activists unreservedly…. Asked whether they would agree to work with President Trump, the candidates agreed they would never do so, which drew some applause from the otherwise quiet crowd at George Washington University.

Translation: it’s time to get those Trumpslide! 2020 shirts made.

One would think this means that there isn’t any place for non-whites in the Republican Party, except that in the political sense, identity means who you want in government. And any rational non-white living in the USA should want white government, because that is what almost all of them – or at least their ancestors – came seeking in the first place.

The single biggest single mistake made by the Founding Fathers was this one: immigrants and their descendants should never have been permitted to vote. After all, no one forced them to immigrate to that particular society and they had nothing to do with creating the society they are seeking to join.

If the God-Emperor truly hopes to make America great again, stripping post-1965 immigrants of all voting rights, state, federal, and local, would be the best thing he could do short of sending them all back to their homelands. Why should people who are not Americans in any sense except paperwork be allowed any say at all in how American society is structured or how Americans live?

New Pizzagate allegations

A former employee of Comet Ping Pong alleges he was assaulted by the individual at the center of the Pizzagate scandal, and also alleges that he was not the man’s only victim:

Eight years ago, a young college student (who wishes to keep his name anonymous) worked at Comet Ping Pong. He reached out to Alefantis as a friend, who then allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted him. The user also goes further to claim that around the same time, Alefantis was caught by former business partner Carole Greenwood assaulting her young son in the kitchen of Comet Ping Pong. While unproven, the timeline does indeed add up with Greenwood’s abrupt abandonment of Comet, citing “urgent family matters”. We can also confirm via a Washington Post article written in 2003 that Greenwood does have a son who would have been 17-18 years old in 2008. Greenwood was unavailable for an interview. According to the accuser, another employee witnessed the assault of Greenwood’s son. Those reports were allegedly swept under the rug by the DC police.

Considering that there are recent reports out of Belgium and Norway, including dozens of arrests, that involve politicians and child pornography, the fact that there is so much media panic over the mere mention of the term “Pizzagate” is, in itself, rather suspicious. It is also reminiscent of the British establishment’s covering up the crimes of known pedophiles such as TV personality Jimmy Savile and Member of Parliament Cyril Smith for four decades.

David Seaman has some thoughts on the latest revelations and the media’s utter unwillingness to even look into the allegations.

Instapundit on Trump’s media strategy

As usual, Glenn Reynolds presents an intelligent perspective that will go almost completely ignored by the very media to whom, and about whom, he is talking:

First, the thing to understand is that, as I’ve said before, one of the changes going on with Trump generally is the renegotiation of various post-World War II institutional arrangements. One of those is the institutional arrangement involving the press and the White House. For decades, the press got special status because it was seen as both powerful, and institutionally responsible. (And, of course, allied with the Democrats who were mostly in charge of setting up those postwar institutional arrangements). Now those things have changed. If the press were powerful, it would have beaten Trump. If it were responsible, it wouldn’t be running away with fake news whenever it sees a chance to run something damaging to Trump. And, of course, there’s no alliance between Trump and the media, as there was with Obama.

So things will change. The press’s “insider” status — which it cherishes — is going to fade. (This is producing waves of status anxiety, as are many other Trump-induced institutional changes). And, having abandoned, quite openly, any pretense of objectivity and neutrality in the election, the press is going to be treated as an enemy by the Trump Administration until further notice.

In fact, Trump’s basically gaslighting them. Knowing how much they hate him, he’s constantly provoking them to go over the top. Sean Spicer’s crowd-size remarks are all about making them seem petty and negative. (And, possibly, teeing up crowd-size comparisons at next week’s March For Life, which the press normally ignores but which Trump will probably force them to cover).

Trump knows that the press isn’t trusted very much, and that the less it’s trusted, the less it can hurt him. So he’s prodding reporters to do things that will make them less trusted, and they’re constantly taking the bait. They’re taking the bait because they think he’s dumb, and impulsive, and lacking self-control — but he’s the one causing them to act in ways that are dumb and impulsive, and demonstrate lack of self-control. As Richard Fernandez writes on Facebook, they think he’s dumb because they think he has lousy taste, but there are a lot of scarily competent guys out there in the world who like white and gold furniture. And, I should note, Trump has more media experience than probably 99% of the people covering him. (As Obama operative Ben Rhodes gloated with regard to selling a dishonest story on the Iran deal, the average reporter the Obama White House dealt with “is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns.” In Rhodes’ words, “they literally know nothing.”)

The counter-move for the press isn’t to double down on anti-Trump messaging. The counter-move is to bolster its own trustworthiness by acting more neutral and sober, and by being more trustworthy. If the news media actually focused on reporting facts accurately and straightforwardly, on leaving opinion to the pundits, and on giving Trump a clearly fair shake, then Trump’s tactics wouldn’t work, and any actual dirt they found on him would do actual damage. He’s betting on the press being insufficiently mature and self-controlled to manage that. So far, his bet is paying off.

I can’t say I’m surprised. As an astonishingly perspicacious and remarkably handsome gentleman once observed, SJWs always double down.

How Trump happened

Brendan Neill explains at The Spectator:

It happened because you banned super-size sodas. And smoking in parks. And offensive ideas on campus. Because you branded people who oppose gay marriage ‘homophobic’, and people unsure about immigration ‘racist’.

Because you treated owning a gun and never having eaten quinoa as signifiers of fascism. Because you thought correcting people’s attitudes was more important than finding them jobs. Because you turned ‘white man’ from a description into an insult. Because you used slurs like ‘denier’ and ‘dangerous’ against anyone who doesn’t share your eco-pieties.

That’s part of it, anyhow. But it also happened because conservatives refused to fight for the nation or to conserve anything. It also happened because neocons invaded the world while inviting the world. It also happened because corporations set up factories in China and hired H1B foreigners instead of employing Americans. It also happened because Churchians decided it was more important to spare the feelings of non-Christians than obey the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Bible.

Galactic Liberation 1: Starship Liberator

The Hundred Worlds have withstood invasion by the relentless Hok for decades. The human worlds are strong, but the Hok have the resources of a thousand planets behind them, and their fleets attack in endless waves.

The long war has transformed the Hundred Worlds into heavily fortified star systems. Their economies are geared for military output, and they raise specialized soldiers to save our species. Assault Captain Derek Straker is one such man among many. Genetically sculpted to drive a mech-suit as if he wears a second skin, he must find a path to victory.

It’s a battle in which he’ll never admit defeat, but not even Straker knows the dark truth behind this titanic struggle. With Lieutenant Carla Engels piloting, STARSHIP LIBERATOR explores enemy territory in search of answers.

STARSHIP LIBERATOR is the first book in the new Galactic Liberation series by bestselling authors David VanDyke and B.V. Larson. It is 492 pages and retails for $27.99 in hardcover and $19.99 in paperback. It is also available at Barnes & Noble.

The publication of Starship Liberator today marks a significant step forward for Castalia House, as VanDyke and Larson are among the most successful authors in science fiction. To put it in perspective, B.V. Larson regularly ranks among the top 10 bestselling authors in the genre, while David VanDyke is usually in the top 75. We are very pleased to be working with both men, and I hope more than a few Castalia readers will consider adding this attractive doorstopper to their shelves.

From the reviews:

  • Fast action. Plot has several unexpected twists. Like the development key characters. Good book.
  • Great tactical narrative. The characters are enjoyable. Good old-fashioned good vs evil. Harks back to Soviet days and 1984.
  • Excellent military space battle story. Kept me riveted from start to finish. Good storyline and well developed characters.
  • Another great addition to David Vandyke’s and BV Larson’s repertoire. It’s great to see a return to pure SF for Vandyke, and you can see why it makes sense for he and Larson to collaborate – both are excellent storytellers and create rich, deep characters, in unusual situations.
  • Recommended if you’re a fan of either of the authors, must-read if you’re a fan of both.

In other Castalia-related news, John C. Wright has begun blogging at the Castalia House blog with a detailed critique of the original Buck Rogers novella, ARMAGEDDON 2419 A.D. It is a must-read for any writer, as he breaks down what works, and what does not, and explains how it is that such a flawed piece of short fiction was able to lead to such a memorable franchise.

And speaking of doorstoppers, fans of Selenoth won’t want to miss Scott Cole’s new series of posts entitled Summa Selenothica, with which he intends to fill in some of the blanks for those who are interested in diving deeper into the epic fantasy world of Tellus Demittus, beginning with The Last Witchking.

Mailvox: women and SJWs

ER seeks advice on how to go about fighting female SJWs:

I just listened to your periscope today and had several epiphanies so thank you, I couldn’t be more thrilled you’re hoping to do more of them.

My conundrum is this, I can grasp and admire the gamer gate/Trump tactics and appreciate the explanations about rhetoric and dialectic (your blog inspired me to read Aristotle, Cernovich and Scott Adams). But most of what I see working for all of you guys doesn’t translate well into the more passive-aggressive ways of my social circles which are predominantly female.  It caught my attention when you said more people would witness the victories of Trump and Milo and see a way out…to follow their model of winning so we can stop losing. But even if I tried what you do with Scalzi…well maybe I’m just a wimp, but I can’t do it.  It’s too aggressive for me pull off.

I’ve tried to watch what other “red pill” women do on twitter and facebook, but the Anne Coulter model seems to work best for the strong, no-holds-barred ENTJ type of woman. As much as I respect or admire them, it doesn’t seem to work for the more average woman.

I would just stay quietly in the background except that I see SJWism taking over even my conservative christian and homeschooling circles.  Those of us moms who voted Trump or who could be described as AltWest try feebly to defend ourselves but we don’t do it well.

Any thoughts or tips on how women can engage in effective rhetoric? It seems we’ve found ourselves in this battle whether we want to be here or not.

If you can’t utilize the heavy artillery, then all that remains is to use the weapons that you are willing and able to use. Take the passive-aggressive tactics of your SJW enemies as a model and use them to pursue your own objectives. Engage in your own whisper campaigns. Exclude those whom you know to be on the other side. Behave like Mean Girls and Heathers to bully and badger the other women into complying to your will. Tear them down psychologically with little passive-aggressive comments and damn them with faint praise and back-handed compliments.

Anyone who is attacked has three choices: fight, submit, or run away. Now, no advice is going to help those who are simply going to submit or run away. The key is to understand that once you’re under assault, minding your own business ceases to be an option for you. Being left alone and going along to get along is no longer an option. You must accept that. Now, I’ve yet to see a woman who is totally incapable of getting nasty and passive-aggressive when sufficiently motivated, so I recommend that ER and other women in her position simply unleash their inner bitches and start fighting back using the natural weapons that God gave them.

If you don’t think you can do it, ask your husband. He might be able to refresh your memory and remind you of certain tactics that are clearly at your disposal.

Remember, these SJW women are attacking you, your organizations, your families, your children, and your way of life. They are attempting to destroy the things you value and love. If you were capable of tearing down girls in 8th grade because they were prettier than you were, or because Billy the quarterback liked Sherry the cheerleader better than you, you are certainly capable of fighting back in this situation too.

You don’t have to fight like me, or Milo, or Donald Trump. You probably can’t. And that’s fine, the important thing is to make up your mind to stand your ground and fight with what you have. The fact that you don’t have a mechsuit armed with nuclear missiles doesn’t mean you can’t smile nicely at an SJW and greet her with flowery words before driving a wooden stake into her heart.

Portrait of a failed strategy

Indignation and posturing having failed in intersectional defense of his interspecies relationships, McRapey tries a new strategy. It does not go well.

  • So… he’s trying to be witty and troll his opponents… by agreeing and amplifying the cuck insult, and making himself look like a creepy gay man?
  • Correct. He’s been doing that since high school.
  • He’s on the bottom rung of the ladder with actual men, who display nothing but disgust and contempt for him, a physical revulsion, since he’s utterly insecure and doesn’t know how to act like a man. So he self-neuters and acts like a woman to get validation from the only people who can stand him. Example A of why fathers are so important to little boys. If all you have to emulate is mommy you may end up like this degenerate.

What is supposed to pass for humor is the Gamma go-to under pressure. First, it’s not funny. Second, it doesn’t actually fool anyone.

UPDATE: Don’t worry, now he’s going to butch it up. On Twitter.

“Why would you punch a Nazi when baseball bats are readily available?”

So tuff! So fierce! So very 6’3″ Marine badass! The funny thing is that there are almost certainly far more people who would love to see McRapey get punched in the face than ever wanted to see someone hit Richard Spencer. And that’s just the SJWs.
