Mailvox: the dichotomous absurdity

GL points out some logical conclusions:

What an excellent article. I had a very similar thought the other day. What would an biologist conclude regarding a species whose females were either avoiding pregnancy or killing their young. Not much of a future, I guess.

I have another point to make. Western feminism will be the root of its own destruction. I see that some Europeans are using the falling birth rate as a justification for admitting Turkey to the EU. The emigrants from this almost exclusively muslim nation will certainly not support the “rights” of women; quite the contrary I expect. Other western countries will also be forced to admit immigrants from third world nations to cover the collapsing birth rate.

To say the least, most of the immigrants from these nations will not support western liberal democratic ideals: least of all feminism. Feminist ideas can only flourish in a tolerant liberal democracy. Liberal democracy is culturally rooted in a pluralistic history. This cultural tradition is not one shared by any third world nation with a surplus population. Ironically, the feminists are killing very the individuals most likely to absorb and pass on the western liberal traditions: their own children.

Yes, the irony of bringing in Muslims – or even Mexican Catholics – to replace the children not being born to secular feminists and non-feminists influenced by feminist societal trends has not escaped me. Next to post-modernism, feminism is probably the most overtly stupid ideology I’ve ever encountered. Even Marxism at least has the benefit of promising paradise on Earth and DAS KAPITAL is sufficiently dense and difficult to prevent any of the soft-headed sub-geniuses who are liable to fall for Marxism from actually reading it, while Keynesianism works on some levels in the short term.

Feminist writings, on the other hand, promise nothing except some mythical equality with men, as if that’s such a wonderful thing, and are so simplistic that it’s impossible to understand how anyone capable of sounding out the phonics involved can possibly take them seriously.

Feminism is doomed, I’m just hoping that feminism doesn’t manage to take Western civilization down with it.

Win when it counts

Sure, I’m not happy about losing the season series to the Packers. But you know, the third time pays for all…. I actually like the Vikings chances against Philadelphia with an iffy TO, (like in the sense that they exist at all), and if Atlanta can polish off the Rams, they could make it to the big game. For all Mike Martz’s insanity, they are the NFC team that scares me the most right now.

31-17. UHHH-OOOOOOOH!

Vox vs Tucker Max

After following the link from Bane’s site, I spent a fair bit of time laughing until I nearly expired while following the intoxicated meanderings of an ego writ large. It made me feel rather good about myself, because I never realized until today that while I may have been extraordinarily inconsiderate and borderline sexually sociopathic prior to meeting Space Bunny and being inspired to reform, I was not actually an asshole. But it was almost eerily remniscent of my own history, rather like reading the diary you don’t remember writing.

A few thoughts strike me:

1. I crushed his highest confirmed BAC. By double-digits. Wuss. And heck, on my 21st birthday, I did my 21 shots in less time, didn’t boot AND ended up in jail. Along with a side-trip to the hospital to treat a broken nose. Good times… blame Big Chilly and the White Buffalo for that one.

2. Every nice guy should read his stories simply to understand what makes non-Christian women tick. Well, at least how to run them. They definitely have the ring of truth to them. If all you’re after is fast sex with hot girls, snarling contempt indiscriminately applied shotgun-style is the most effective way to go about it.

3. Tucker is funny. I’m not. Hence, my stories tend to involve significantly more violence, or at least the imminent threat of it. Tucker is like the perfect cross between the White Buffalo and me.

4. I have a good friend who went to the University of Chicago’s business school. Tucker’s characterization of the women there conforms precisely to my friend’s description of the place as some sort of hell school for the smart, unwashed and physically deformed. I think I have to give my 17-year old self more credit now.

5. Tucker is a beautiful example of what I consider to be a rational atheist. If more Christians understood this, they would find it easier to talk across the cross-cultural gap that separates us from them.

6. He slavers for public attention. I sometimes enjoy it, and sometimes find it uncomfortable. And the idea of having an MTV camera crew follow me around for a week makes my skin crawl.

Anyhow, it wouldn’t be fair to leave you, gentle reader, without an example of the wit and wisdom of Tucker Max:

11:16: The fat girl from the first kitchen encounter comes over. With reinforcements. Her backup: A small frail dork that looks like he just finished a Magic The Gathering tournament, a heinous Asian girl, and a greasy haired fat doofus in a camouflage vest. I ask you–Am I here right now? Is this my life?

11:17: The girl starts saying something about what a horrible person I am. I stare at her, but I am not listening. I am preparing myself. I am B-Rabbit. This is the final battle rap. I will win the hostile crowd: [I interrupt the fat girl] “Ward, I think you’re being a little hard on the Beaver, [as I point to each in turn] so is Eddie Haskell, Wally, and Miss Cleaver.”

[To the fat guy with greasy hair in the camo vest] “Look out everyone! It’s the Pillsbury Commando! Hey Chunk, when was the last time you washed your hair? Does it give you more hit points to have that grease helmet? I hate to break the news, but +5 defense only counts in Dungeons and Dragons.”

[To the ugly Asian girl] “Why you no rike me? You want me frip over? You no piss me off! ME FIND YOU IN POCKING ROT!! YOU NO TAKE MING ARIVE!!”

[To the small frail dork–I notice he has a lazy eye] “Dude–Look at me when I’m talking to you–BOTH EYES AT ONCE. Are you really this ugly or are you just playing? EVERYONE, BE CAREFUL, THIS GUY LURKS UNDER THE STAIRS AND TRIES TO LICK YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU PASS BY!”

[To the original fatty, pause for effect] “Why do you do this to yourself? WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF? Look, I’m gonna give you some advice-leave the party, take the geek squad with you, go to Denny’s, order about 10 Grand Slam Breakfasts, and eat your pain away. Won’t be the first time will it?”

11:19: I am finished. The kitchen is quiet, except for Eddie and Rich laughing. The four freaks are completely speechless. Everyone is staring at me. I blurt out, “WHAT? I’m pretty sure it’s what Jesus would’ve done.” Eddie and Rich promptly remove me from the kitchen.

Good humor. Cruel, to be sure, but good.

Mailvox: I’m not an effigy

Sinewave expresses bafflement:

How does a mohawked maverick get a job writing at WorldNetDaily anyhow? Did Vox have a career in journalism before WND?

He calls up Mr. Joseph Farah and volunteers to write something different than the usual fare. I don’t think “career” is the most apt word to describe it, but my writing had appeared in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Boston Globe, the Atlanta Journal/Constitution and the North Bay Nugget prior to showing up in WND. Since then, it has appeared in a number of other places, including Pravda.

You probably think I’m kidding. Stone cold veracity, curveball.

Third times the charm

Here’s why the Vikings are going to win today:

1. Mike Tice will stop trying to think and throw caution to the winds. The Vikings always play better when he isn’t overstraining that underpowered noggin.

2. They already won in Lambeau this season. Sure the record book doesn’t show it, but every player on both teams knows that the refs handed the fumble, and the game, to Green Bay.

3. Randy Moss intends to play, seeing as the game is on national television and all.

4. The book says to run the ball when playing outside in January. This means there is a reasonable chance that one of the league’s best rushing attacks MIGHT actually run the ball more than 15 times.

5. Momentum is important for most teams, but not the Vikings. This collection of talented headcases are simply too undependable to be relied on to lose after backing into the playoffs on a wild card.

6. The NFC is up in the air. Everyone is eminently beatable. Even the Rams could easily go to the Super Bowl – I think every Mike Martz hater just got a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach, can you believe they were out of time outs with almost four minutes left in the THIRD quarter! – and if Daunte, Moss, Burleson and the four-headed back attack hits on all cylinders, none of these NFC teams can stop them.

7. Unfortunately, Mike Tice can and probably will. Fortunately, his game day limitations are actually exceeded by Mike Sherman.

8. Ahman Green does not inspire the fear he has for the past three years. I should know, he’s been sitting on my bench for the latter half of the season. Number three pick in the draft and sadly sub-par (for a top RB) all year.

9. I’m not wearing the poisoned purple sweatshirt that my Packers-owning cheesehead mother-in-law treacherously gave me for Christmas this time. Instead, I’ve broken out old reliable, the Todd Scott #38 gamer that attracts Brett Favre interceptions like a magnet pulls iron shavings. The coffee is brewing, the lounger is waiting and the household is in full E-F-F-E-C-T otherwise known as effect.

Skol Vikings!

Two down, one to go

Patrick and I wrapped up volume II of Archangels: The Fall yesterday. We pushed it way too close to the wire, as we were still writing the final text only hours before we were scheduled to upload it to the printers. But it’s easier to mess with the words than with the pictures and I’m used to having to work with very tight deadlines, so it worked out fine. The only real danger is that there’s not much chance to check for spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors on the last few pages, but as is probably clear from my column and this blog, I never check for them anyhow.

A Vox apology

To my loyal readers,

I would like to apologize to you all for accepting the $800,000.00 I was paid by the Department of Homeland Defense to support the War on Terror over the last three years As you all know, I have long been staunchly opposed to committing terrorist actions leading to the great loss of life, and because I sincerely believe that it is wrong to murder innocent men, women and children, I thought it would be acceptable to accept the money provided by the department in return for providing former Secretary Tom Ridge with sexual favors.

The fact is that Mr. Ridge is a very attractive man, if you are attracted to men who look like pre-Neanderthalic ur-gorillas, and I would have gladly worn that emerald chiffon dress with the six-inch spike heels for him even if I wasn’t being paid somewhere in the vicinity of $400,000.00 per War on Terror supporting action.

But the recent media uproar has convinced me that accepting the money was wrong, and so please believe me that when I say in the future, you can rest assured that my defense of Homeland Security is not based on a mercenary foundation. I hope none of you will lose confidence in me over this momentary peccadillo and I hope you will all be more interested than ever in my forthcoming book: CALL ME DEAR LEADER, in which I will reveal how I am the only syndicated columnist who is wise enough, pure enough and of a sufficiently Numenorian bloodline to be trusted to tell you what to think, say and do.

You may now kneel and kiss my signet ring,

Vox

In defense of Mordor

Zinn: I also think it is a spectacular display of bad manners to disappear at your own birthday party. And here, for the first time, Gandalf speaks to Bilbo about magic rings. Still, it is never clearly established why this one ring is so powerful. Everything used to justify that belief is legendary.

Chomsky: Gandalf is clearly wondering if it’s time to invoke his plan for the supposed revelation concerning the secret magic ring. Why now? Well, I think it’s because the people in Mordor — the Orcs, I’m speaking of — are starting to obtain some power, are starting to ask a little bit more from Middle Earth than Middle Earth has ever seen fit to give to them. And I don’t think it’s unreasonable for them to expect something back from Middle Earth. Of course, if that happened, the entire economy would be disrupted.

Zinn: The pipe-weed-based economy.

Chomsky: And, as you pointed out earlier, the military-industrial-complex that exists in Gondor. This constant state of alertness. This constant state of fear….

Good stuff. Thanks, Michael.

Who needs NPR

Seeking to build support among black families for its education reform law, the Bush administration paid a prominent black pundit $240,000 to promote the law on his nationally syndicated television show and to urge other black journalists to do the same.

The campaign, part of an effort to promote No Child Left Behind (NCLB), required commentator Armstrong Williams “to regularly comment on NCLB during the course of his broadcasts,” and to interview Education Secretary Rod Paige for TV and radio spots that aired during the show in 2004. Williams said Thursday he understands that critics could find the arrangement unethical, but “I wanted to do it because it’s something I believe in.”

The top Democrat on the House Education Committee, Rep. George Miller of California, called the contract “a very questionable use of taxpayers’ money” that is “probably illegal.” He said he will ask his Republican counterpart to join him in requesting an investigation.

Using taxpayer money to propagandize the populace in favor of federalizing education. What was that about the Bush administration being conservative? The party of Strong Government deserves every bit of the flack that it’s going to get over this.

Forget about NPR. The government can just pay the columnists it likes directly. This should put the final stake in the heart of the “watchdog media” myth.
