Conservativism Failed American Christianity

The Moral Majority, the Christian Coalition, the organized Christian churches, and the conservative movement all collectively failed both America and American Christians:

The danger is that a marriage between conservatism and Christianity will place the Faith in a position to be compromised, just as conservative politicians are compromising every day. This would result in a Christian faith which conforms to politics instead of a politics which conforms to Christianity.

This is not to say that the conservative movement has never been Christian or never supported Christian values. It is very true that in past decades the conservative movement was where devout Christians of all stripes could find allies in the culture war. Catholics and Evangelicals found themselves side by side in the fight to protect the unborn. Presbyterians and Methodists found themselves in the same trenches defending the sanctity of marriage. This was only possible because a critical mass of American society was, in fact, devoutly Christian, and therefore the conservative movement was trying to conserve a Christian America. Politics was downstream of culture and culture was downstream of Christianity.

Those days are more or less over. America is only nominally Christian, if that, and hence it is increasingly common for conservatives to identify as non-Christian or pagan. The campaign of Vivek Ramaswamy is a good example of this. While he may preach a familiar set of conservative policies, his social and religious views sound more similar to a mid-decade liberal than a traditional Christian conservative, as he is a vocal and devout Hindu. This is not to rail against his faith but to point out that he is a glowing example of how one can be uber-conservative and non-Christian. If it is the essence of conservatism to preserve and to change slowly, and our culture is no longer Christian, no wonder our conservative movement is less than Christian. There is little Christianity in our nation to preserve!

What Exactly Are Conservatives Conserving?, CRISIS MAGAZINE, 28 August 2023

It’s now more than apparent that the American conservativism articulated by Russell Kirk and championed by Buckley, Goldwater, and Reagan was a complete and unmitigated failure that was unsuccessful in conserving anything from the American people’s majority in the United States to the historic concept of the two genders. Like Churchianity, its failure was inevitable because it was focused on inclusivity and expanding its numbers rather than requiring a dedication to the truths it proclaimed on its members and policing the legitimacy of that dedication among them.

American Christians must put Jesus Christ, heritage America, the good, the beautiful, and the true ahead of all the niceness and inclusivity and equality and civnattery and all the other fake virtues, or they will continue to drown in a swamp of judeo-churchian conservatism.

The Etymology of “Yahweh”

This is an educational dive into the way modern Christianity has been infiltrated and influenced by non-Christian parties, in this particular case, by a pair of Enlightenment-era etymologists.

Have you ever heard someone refer to God as “Yahweh”? That’s just the English for His revealed name in the OT, right? That must mean it’s the ancient Christian practice!

Let’s look at the genealogy of this one, because it is wild. N.b. this thread is not about “the secret name of God,” or YHWH, or Jehovah, or vowel pointing, or any other such debate. It is solely focused how & when the six letters “Yahweh” came into common use in English.

A friend asked this week whether a CPH commentary that insists on translating Lord as “Yahweh” is subversive. My first instinct was “yes, absolutely.” But what do I know? So I turned next to Google Ngrams, which searches over 8M books going back centuries. Ngrams shows just what I imagined: the term was invented in the last two centuries, and took off in popularity very recently. Neither of these are what you want to see when you’re considering sound doctrine. An unchanging God does not engender fickle beliefs.

Ngrams also lets you drill down to any date range to see precisely which hits are represented on the graph. After some spelunking, metadata errors, lots more googling, and hours of reading original source material, here is how we were tricked into saying “Yahweh”.

For thousands of years, there has been debate over the pronunciation of “YHWH”–the name “I am” which God gave Himself from the burning bush in Exodus 3. Written Hebrew of course has no vowels, so with only the text, there are numerous possibilities for any consonant set. “Jehovah” itself is one such made-up word, which deliberately transposes the vowel sounds from “Adonai” onto the consonants in “YHWH”. While the intention at the time was pious, it is highly relevant that no such thing was done in Jesus’ day.

The Greek Septuagint (LXX) is the Old Testament that was commonly used in Jesus’ day. Hebrew was already a dead language in the 1st century, meaning it was no longer spoken conversationally and most couldn’t read it. Jesus quotes the LXX, as does the NT hundreds of times.

So it is relevant how the LXX treats the YHWH “I am”. What we find is that the word is simply and naturally translated “ego eimi”–”I am”. The 4th century Latin Vulgate also faithfully translates it simply as “ego sum”. Zero interest in it as a proper name, vs. a declaration.

This fact is crucial to the question because it ties directly to Christ’s Divinity. When Jesus said, “Before Abraham was I am” He said ego eimi, and the jews tried to murder Him on the spot for blasphemy. He didn’t use some special Hebrew utterance, but “I am”–God’s Name.

For over 14 centuries, every Christian believed that God’s revealed name to Moses was “I am”.

I’m neither a theologian nor an etymologist. But I am an exemplaragnitorian with a respectable track record for correctly sniffing out both bullshit and sulfur. And all the fake Hebrewisms that some Christians like to sling around with pious abandon have always struck me as redolent of both, so it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest to learn that “Yahweh” is an Enlightenment-era construction.

UPDATE: a thematically-related article that takes the position that the use of “Yahweh” is dishonest.

Over the last generation, most American clerics have switched to pronouncing the divine name as Yahweh. I want to make the case that this is dishonest at several levels. First, few can even give a cogent summary of the reasons why Yahweh is to be preferred to Jehovah even though willing to disrupt the tradition over it. I am confident of this because even at the august Westminster Seminary, I caught three professors in the Hebrew OT department out of class and asked why we should say Yahweh. Two of them waved me off to “look it up.” The third, the only one to have an earned PhD from Harvard, said that Jehovah was an entirely possible way the tetragrammaton was pronounced; he used Yahweh as a disruptive mechanism, to shake people out of their comfort zone.

Ancient Understanding

It is evident that the ancient Egyptians understood how the world actually works much better than most people do today.

All of the most powerful human elites, regardless of their identities, ethnicities, or affiliations, answer to more powerful supernatural masters, whose objectives are absolutely antithetical to humanity. This is why Christianity, and more specifically, the relationships of various individuals with Jesus Christ, is the one and only force that keeps the ruling powers of the fallen world at bay.

Which, of course, is why post-Christian Europe, the post-Christian Middle East, and post-Christian America are all ugly shadows of what they were when Christianity was at its peak in those places. And it is why it is safe to conclude that both Russia and China are in the ascendant, as Christianity actively grows in both nations.

Material Greed vs Spiritual Wickedness

From the comments at AC’s place, a discussion of why supposedly profit-seeking corporations like Disney and Anheiser Busch are actively destroying their IP, their profits, and their market caps with their relentless campaigns against the European nations and Christian values.

Anonymous: Of course it’s deliberate sabotage. Cabal has always hated Disney. They need his legacy completely removed from the minds of Americans.

Vox Day believes that this somehow renders materialism and money motivation is irrelevant. And pulls “spiritual wickedness” out of his butt as a reason to understand all of this. Yep, money doesn’t motivate cabal at all. Just “spiritual wickedness”, which he can neither define nor explain.

An astounding expert at missing the obvious and fabricating ghost stories to explain the motion of the world, he doesn’t seem to understand the value of cultural legacies and values. And can’t in any way conceive that greed is driving all of this. It is the greed of control. Cabal isn’t after a few cheap ticket or lunchbox sales. They want everything we have. And that begins with completely lobotomizing us and removing us from our cultural legacy so that we can become compliant little podlings who own nothing and are happy.

VD can’t see the obvious greed, the greed to control the entire world and wipe out any potential opposition. He can’t see that cabal is interested in taking EVERYTHING you have and making sure that no remaining humans are able to resist or even survive on their own. Wiping out the legacy of people like Walt Disney is a part of our ongoing cultural lobotomization, a move of harsh implications. And yet conservatives gleefully cheer on the destruction of our legacy, and guys like VD do their best to obscure the reality of what is going on by insisting that it’s not unimaginably ferocious greed but instead best explained by old ghost stories.

Reply to Anonymous: tell me u r atheist without saying u r atheist

Reply to Anonymous: You don’t understand Vox.

VD: First, it’s the “old ghost stories” that define greed as evil, and the love of money being the root of evil. So you’re trying to set up a false dichotomy here. Without those “old ghost stories”, you have no rational basis for condemning either greed or control.

Second, it is no problem to define and explain “spiritual wickedness”. It is the causal driving force behind the material wickedness, which is conscious opposition to God, Jesus Christ, and Nature. What you call cabal is merely the material opposition that serves the interests and command of its supramaterial masters.

Third, the legacy was destroyed when the infiltration was completed. Nothing can save Disney now. There is no point to supporting Disney’s assaults on Christian European culture. Fourth, money motivation is nonexistent to those who can create it ex nihilo. “Money” doesn’t really exist today, as it’s nothing more than promises made by faithless individuals and institutions.

Farcesensitive: They don’t need money, they print money and they steal more money than you could imagine. It’s about power, evil, and destruction.

Reply to Anonymous: Get out of here with your shallow atheism. Greed is the base motivator for humans. As also is lust, ambition, power, revenge. But the supernatural world influences humans & plays the long game.

Throughout time mankind has pursued its short term carnal desires. But there are evil spiritual forces guiding and shaping these behaviors and energies so as to set in play events that will cause the greatest amount of destruction to mankind, physically and spiritually. Destroy beauty, destroy hope, destroy how people connect to God. Increase alienation, increase isolation, break bonds of family, community, even the sense of self & a greater harvest of those who will be damned & have their potential denied is possible.

It’s much bigger than what you think it is & it’s been going on for millennia. They know they will lose & they want to take as many of us out as they can.

Macaque Mentality: If you’re a shill: LOL, nice try. If you’re not a shill: You need to engage in deeper thinking. Greed is only a miniscule variable in what’s actually happening in the world right now. Jesus Christ is Lord. Start with the Bible.

Owen Drops the Mic

Big Bear asks civic nationalists what an American is:

Here’s a mic drop argument that will destroy civic nationalism in the zeitgeist for your “conservative” and “boomerservative” friends/family that love dunking on budlight/trannys;

The origins of trans-gender had their ideological seeds planted in trans-nationalism. If you can identify as “women” after being born in a male body, why can’t you identify as an “American” if you’re born in Japanese body?

A Japanese person immigrates to the US, files for citizenship and ‘transitions’ into an American because of a piece of paper? So why can’t a male get a legal paper to recognize themselves as a woman so you have to recognize their new identity?

The answer is neither can. A male has a penis, a Nation is a people.

For those of you trolling Matt Walsh telling him to follow up his doc “What is a Woman?” with “What is a jew?” you’re missing the point.

Ask him to make the doc (and it’s time to start asking the question to everyone)

“What is an American?”

This is very similar to the point I’ve long made about the oft-seen misapplication of the civic nationalist’s favorite Bible verse, Galatians 3:28:

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Anyone who uses that verse to deny nationality must also deny both slavery and sex. And anyone who doesn’t is neither honest nor intellectually consistent.

Of truth and Truth

Liars are very concerned that Christianity appears to make it harder for them to successfully lie to people:

A new study, published in something called the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, claims that both Christian nationalism and biblical literalism are independently associated with a greater tendency to believe in conspiracy theories. More to the progressive point, that study purportedly found when people believed in both Christian nationalism and biblical literalism, their distrust of government officials increased significantly. Egad!

In other words, they were more astute and less naïve.

Yet leftists believe that the findings provide insight into the socio-cultural factors that contribute to the inexplicable spread and persistence of “misinformation” — among certain groups of people.

The more one is dedicated to discovering the truth, the more one finds oneself led inexorably toward the Way, the Truth, and the Life. It should not be a surprise that the People of the Lie wish to dissuade everyone from even beginning to learn what the truth of their reality is.

A Purge, Long Overdue

They have a long way to go, but the Southern Baptists have finally begun to take their professed faith seriously and clean their house.

The letter in October came as a shock to Linda Barnes Popham, who had been the pastor of Fern Creek Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky., for 30 years, the first woman to lead her congregation. She had served in ministry even longer, since she started as a pianist at age 16.

But now, she read in the letter, officials of the Southern Baptist Convention had received a complaint about her church being led by a woman. The denomination was investigating, it said.

She replied at length, listing her qualifications and her church’s interpretation of the Bible that affirmed her eligibility to lead. Church deacons, including men, rallied to her defense.

Convention officials decided to expel her church anyway, along with four other congregations that have female pastors, including one of the most prominent in the country, Saddleback Church, based in Southern California.

“I never believed this would happen,” Ms. Barnes Popham said of the move to expel her church, as she prepared to appeal the expulsion on Tuesday afternoon before thousands of delegates at the annual S.B.C. convention in New Orleans. “Why would you want to silence the voices of the faithful churches? Why?”

However the delegates vote on her appeal, the larger message is clear: There is a movement in the Southern Baptist Convention, a denomination that is often a bellwether for evangelical America, to purge women from its leadership.

The right wing of the Southern Baptists, the largest Protestant denomination in America, is now — like conservatives more broadly — cracking down on what it sees as dangerous liberal drift.

UPDATE: Members of the Southern Baptist Convention upheld the decision of the Executive Committee to boot Fern Creek Baptist Church from the organization, on a 9,700-806 vote.

It’s about time. The answer to the woman’s question is very straightforward. “Why would you want to silence the voices of the faithful churches?” Because no Christian church led by a woman is faithful. Those voices are satanic.

If women want to start their own equalitarian Goddess-centered pagan religion, they currently have the right to do so in most countries throughout the West. What they don’t have the right to do, what they will never have the right to do no matter what the law asserts, is to elevate their own sensibilities above the Bible or violate the tenets of the Christian faith and still call themselves “Christian”.

These false female pastors should be grateful. If events proceed the way history suggests they will, within 50 years they won’t just be expelled, they’ll be burned at the stake.

Why the Media Hated the Pick-Up Artists

Because, as it turns out, pick-up artistry proved to be an effective means of penetrating morass of lies in which every young man has been enmeshed for the entirety of his life. Krauser reviews Mere Christianity:

Having followed atheism for a few decades and lived a highly individualist and pleasure-seeking life I became aware of what Christian moral philosophers have warned for hundreds of years: atheism is a dead end. It ends in nihilism. I experienced such nihilism in 2016 and by 2017 I was looking for a better way. So far there’s only been one barrier to my converting to Christianity: my lack of belief in God. Aside from that small obstacle, I agree with the thesis that Christianity is one of the three pillars of Western Civilisation (white nations and the Greco-Roman legacy being the other two) and by removing Christianity from the West we have set ourselves into a rapid decline into nihilism and paganism. It’s a shit show.

Anyway, I give this preamble to explain why I decided to read Mere Christianity. I realised that every single time that I am an expert on a topic and I compare my knowledge to the media’s, I realise the media isn’t simply wrong. They are deceitfully wrong. They are deliberately hiding the truth in order to advance a false narrative. Whether the topic is global finance, mixed martial arts, Game, or anything else the lesson is the same: the media are liars. So, knowing that the media is virulently anti-Christian, I asked myself the obvious question:

Does the media tell the truth about Christianity?

The chances aren’t high, are they? I don’t mean that the media is atheist and therefore do they support Christianity, but rather can they be trusted to speak accurately of what Christianity actually is, of what Christians actually believe?

The logic is impeccable. And his conclusion is correct:

There is no logical inconsistency at all between the God of the Bible, salvation, and the existence of Evil.

I’m rather annoyed that I had to wait until I was 43 years old before learning that. I feel like I’ve been seriously lied to. It would’ve been nice if all those Philosophy Of Religion courses had laid out the arguments and let me make my own mind up.

He was lied to. All of us were lied to, repeatedly. The observable existence of Evil is not a disproof of God or Christianity, for what should be the obvious reason that Evil is a necessary element in Christian theology. This pathway from hedonistic truth to spiritual truth may explain why a commenter at AC’s place observes a surprisingly common pattern.

Manosphere –> Krauser / Heartise / Roosh –> Vox –> AC –> Cabal and Evil Aware –> God right down to the mentions in passing that blown the door open to the next stage could be a common pattern. Might explain why there was a never a hit piece on the likes of Krauser. And now Roosh is Christian I doubt they’d even whisper his name.

Remember, the truth always leads, eventually, to the Truth. And just as liars fear the truth, their masters fear the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

John 14:6.

The Great Coincidence of Clown World

An anonymous reader at an anonymous site asks the most pertinent obvious question facing humanity today:

“How is it they all seem to be reading the exact same script?”

Any study of human nature will show that on pretty much every topic under the sun, a sizable minority of people will not follow the herd – and I mean a sizable minority. Look at elections for Chief Bossman in any not-terminally-corrupt democracy, including the USA til about 1991. No matter how beloved the Winner Bossman is, no matter how much free shit he promises to the masses, it’s very rare for him to get more than 67% of popular vote. VERY rare. The biggest popular landslide in US history was LBJ in 1964, and he “only” got 64%. The biggest US electoral landslides were Nixon ’72 or Reagan ’84, depending on who you ask, and those guys still only got right around 60% of the pop vote. 1 in 3, 4 in 10 people stayed off those big-ass bandwagons. Why? Because that’s how human nature works. And that is a LOT OF people doing that.

Except when it comes to modern politicians and modern bureaucrats and modern general/flag officers and modern extremely rich guys. THEN, they’re ALL – 99%++ – on the same page, 100% of the time. This is a direct contradiction of basic human nature, and as such…. it’s impossible.

I, too, have pondered this very question. Compounding the mystery is the fact that not only does every politician, journalist, corporation, executive, and celebrity read from the same script, but they also shift their positions when the narrative demands it in almost perfect lockstep. They were all against gay marriage until they had always been for it. They were all deeply and abidingly concerned about Covid until one day, suddenly, when they weren’t.

Now they are celebrating Gay Kwanzaa with more public enthusiasm than they’ve shown for any genuine holiday since they were children awaiting Santa’s imminent arrival.

The anonymous questioner suggests two possible explanations: demons or aliens with future tech. Needless to say, there is considerably more evidence in support of the former. And, as we have been reliably informed, there are no coincidences.

Spirits Accessing the Material World

Bruce Charlton ponders how demons might utilize Man’s technology for satanic purposes.

1. The spiritual is primary, and the material is a sub-set of the spiritual.

2. The spiritual world exists as Beings – (is ‘organized’ as Beings) which are living, conscious, purposive entities.

3. A Being can form part of a larger Being, and often includes smaller Beings.

Putting together the above three assumptions, we can see that the agenda of evil might be administered overall by a Being such as Satan, who is analogous to a general directing lower ranks towards a particular strategy. These lower ranks might include demons participating in a hierarchy of organized and specialized functions; the lower ranks also include Men – and other Beings and parts-of-beings such computers, programs, the internet…

While demons are supposed to be wholly committed to evil by their natures; the Men who participate in the System of evil are only partially being used for that purpose.

So a Man might regard his job as ‘just’ digging holes and building walls, or collecting and summarizing data in an office; and this activity might be integrated into an evil-orientated agenda… or a Good and Godly one; and to varying degrees.

Yet the situation is not static, and evil operates purposively to increase itself and corrupt other Beings; so the Man in an evil-aiming organization who digs holes, or the one that deals with ‘information’ – might be confronted-with links between his activity, and its aims and consequences.

So that he will become aware of his participation in evil, and then needs consciously to decide whether to endorse or repent this participation – each of which will have different consequences for how much of himself participates in the System.

If demons can hurl furniture around and turn lights on and off, then there is no reason to believe they cannot interact in a more sophisticated manner with more complicated material objects. While I’m not particularly concerned about AI qua AI, I can imagine how what purports to be AI might be something else merely pretending to be AI and operating in its guise.

This is not a new idea. In THAT HIDEOUS STRENGTH, CS Lewis presented a similar use of the material for interdimensional communication.
