Never apologize to SJWs

Or to the media, as both Donald Trump and Ann Coulter, among others, have repeatedly demonstrated:

Appearing with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show, Donald Trump was in the mood to tweak his own persona — to a point. “I think apologizing’s a great thing,” he said. “But you have to be wrong. I will absolutely apologize, sometime in the hopefully distant future, if I’m ever wrong.”

It’s funny because it’s true: Trump’s steadfast refusal to apologize for his controversial antics may be the most striking thing about him. A significant portion of the Republican base craves it, and a handful of pro-Trump conservative pundits does, too. None of them looms larger, perhaps, than Ann Coulter.

It makes sense. Trump has given political expression to a model of conservative discourse perfected by Coulter and subsequently emulated by Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Michael Savage, and others: 1) Say something controversial or provocative and get a ton of attention in the process. 2) When the media and the Left inevitably demand an apology, adamantly refuse to provide one, driving your critics batty and burnishing your conservative credentials with the base. It’s been Coulter’s modus operandi for her entire, lucrative career, and now Trump has brought it to the campaign trail: A real conservative never says he’s sorry….

Coulter has made a fine living with the same mantra for decades. “Never apologize, at least not for what liberals want you to apologize for,” she advised in her 2004 book, How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must). It’s a rule her critics know she follows all-too-well.

During the George W. Bush years, Coulter’s use of the terms “raghead” and “faggot” in speeches at CPAC generated some furious reactions but no public contrition. In 2012, the Today Show spotlighted a father who was demanding that she apologize for using the term “retarded,” and cease using it in the future. She insisted she wasn’t really referring to the mentally handicapped and said, “screw them!” when asked about her critics in a radio interview with Alan Colmes. (As recently as this May, Coulter wrote a column entitled, “Knowing What We Know Now, Would You Say Jeb Bush Is Retarded?”) Later that year, a Latino GOP group demanded she apologize for a column entitled, “America Nears el Tipping Pointo.” She declined to do so.

Coulter’s remarks have attracted the ire of bigger fish on the right, as well. A few months ago, Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren called on her to apologize for saying that South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who is of Indian Sikh heritage, “is an immigrant and does not understand America’s history.” No such apology was forthcoming.

What I find remarkable is the way that despite the clear and conclusive evidence that a public apology always does more harm than good, people are STILL dumb enough to offer up public apologies. Matt Damon is only the latest to learn this very simple and obvious fact; Brad Torgersen learned the same thing when he made the mistake of apologizing to John Scalzi. As will not surprise anyone who has read SJWs Always Lie, Scalzi immediately took Brad’s apology and turned it into a weapon he used to launch an attack on the Sad Puppy leader.

Look at it this way. An apology is a confession. And what do prosecutors do with confessions? They use it to prosecute the person who gave it to them.

If you’re ever being put under pressure to apologize for something, ask yourself this question: What are the real objectives of those who are putting pressure on me? If they happen to be your critics or political opponents, you can be confident their real objectives don’t happen to include your best interests.

The schizo is back

As some of you know, I have some high-level contacts at certain technology companies. It occurred to me that this is a good opportunity to convince them that some changes need to be made to their comment system, so for the time being I’ve removed the Name/URL and Anonymous commenting options. This means you will have to be registered in order to comment. We may eventually go to a system where you will have to be a member of the blog in order to have commenting privileges.

The advantage of this is that trolls and schizos will no longer be able to pretend to be other commenters. My hope is that I will be able to take the evidence and convince Google to make some of the changes I have been recommending to them that will permit us to go back to a more open commenting system, albeit one that gives the moderators more precise and targeted moderation abilities.

Conversation with a cucky

Charles Martin leaps to the defense of David French. A moderate amount of amusement ensues:

Charlie Martin
@voxday @JonahNRO @DavidAFrench the fact that you think that is what makes you an unlikable dolt.

Vox Day
So you say. And yet, I’m smarter and more popular than you are. And on this issue, I’m also correct.

Charlie Martin ‏@chasrmartin
I might buy more popular.

Vox Day
I have lived in Japan, the USA, and Italy. I have learned the languages. Culture is NOT geography.

Charlie Martin
What *is* American culture? “We hold these truths to be self-evident….” That’s not a race.

Vox Day
It’s English. The Rights of Englishmen. They believed it was universal. No one else did. Or does.

Vox Day
That’s like observing bushido is not a race. That’s true, it is the cultural belief of a race.

Charlie Martin
Which is why so many Americans then spoke German. And you wonder why I think you’re a dolt.

Vox Day
You’re historically illiterate. A smaller percentage spoke German then than speak Spanish now.

Charlie Martin
Now, if all Pekinese are dogs, are all dogs Pekinese?

Vox Day
No, but moving a Pekinese to Germany will not make it a German Shepherd. Or a good guard dog.

Charlie Martin
And, unlike you, I’m not overcompensating for my fears about my intellectual achievements.

Vox Day
No, clearly not. You are a modest man with much to be modest about. What causes your overeating?

It’s always funny when the guy trying to strike the superior pose reveals that his level of historical knowledge doesn’t rise to the level of Snopes. It’s not hard to understand why they stick to rhetoric. Dialectic, even in 140-character chunks, is obviously beyond them.

It’s also informative, because it demonstrates that one doesn’t have to be an SJW to be prone to utilizing SJW-style tactics and rhetoric. The “conservative” version is observably more prone to using pseudo-dialectic, but it’s rhetoric all the same.

And just to be clear, less than 10 percent of the U.S. population ever spoke German; one-third of Pennsylvanians did at its linguistic peak. Spanish speakers now make up about 16 percent of the U.S. population.

Cucky doesn’t like “cuckservative”

David French, a National Review writer who really, really, really wants you to know that HE HAS AN ADOPTED BLACK SONDAUGHTER, doesn’t think the “cuckservative” term should be used. Because, ah, well, it helps the far Left?

I understand frustration at political correctness. In fact, I’ve done something about it, filing more lawsuits to protect students and professors from campus PC tyranny than perhaps any other lawyer in the United States. I agree with the incredulity and rage at elites’ unwillingness to secure the border and their insistence that every immigration debate has to be racialized, with conservatives constantly accused of bigotry. In their frustration, I’ve even seen conservatives I call friends deride those they deem insufficiently devoted to the cause as “cucks” and “cuckservatives.”

In addition to being a derogatory, insulting slur, the word provides aid and comfort to the trolls whose tweets I’ve posted above. Just as bad, it enables and feeds the Left’s own engine of racial grievance.

Conservatives should reject those on both extremes of the spectrum. We defend a culture, not a race. The foundation of that culture is a faith that makes no distinction among races but rather declares, unequivocally, “All are one, in Christ Jesus.” Shunning the slur disempowers the trolls and forces the radical Left to confront the race hatred that fuels its own rage.

Look, this isn’t that difficult. Now that whites are no longer an overwhelming majority in America, they have to play the same racial politics game that everyone else in every other heterogeneous country has had to play for centuries. It’s not an accident that people like David French and Jonah Goldberg, decent conservatives who genuinely subscribe to the now-outmoded abstract ideals that the Left rejected in the Sixties, haven’t grasped the fact that the demographic changes to the United States have not only changed the way the political game is played, but have changed the game itself.

It’s rather amusing to see French attempt to play the Christian card in the secular context of U.S. politics. Yes, all are one in Christ Jesus, does that mean French supports expelling all non-Christians from the USA? If not, then what is the relevance of spiritual equality among Christians to the culture in which white Americans would prefer to live?

Diversity+Proximity=War. What used to be, and what French still believes is, virtue-signaling, in a mostly homogeneous white majority culture is now increasingly despised in a much more heterogeneous culture. What was praised 20 years ago may well get people killed 20 years from now. Just look at how the culture of Rhodesia has changed as a direct result of the changing racial demographics. Cuckies don’t understand that non-whites have never played by white rules except when forced to do so, and they never will do so by choice.

What is feeding the Left’s engine of racial grievance is the increasing size and number of competing racial identities. Trying to play the now-irrelevant “colorblind” game is as pointless as playing by touch-football rules in the NFL.

While it is true that race is not culture, neither are the two distinct concepts entirely unrelated. And culture certainly is much more intertwined with race than it is with geography; it’s more than a little ironic that those who claim race has nothing to do with culture also assert their belief in the culturally transformative qualities of magic dirt.

Moreover, the idea that it is the Alt-Right that is somehow feeding the Left is ridiculous, when the cuckservatives are attacking the same people, using the same tactics and terms, that the Left does. We all know why self-styled conservatives hate being called cuckservatives. It’s because the term strikes too close to home and cuts too deep.

It’s not the word “cuckservative” that has to go. It’s National Review cuckservatism. Isn’t 60 years of unmitigated failure enough to conclude that it isn’t working?

Failing ever higher

It’s rather amusing how the conservative media keeps explaining how Donald Trump lost the debate, or at least didn’t win it, or has hit his ceiling again, while Trump’s poll numbers continue to climb higher.

A Morning Consult poll, released Friday, surveyed 504 registered voters who watched Wednesday’s Republican primary debate and has only good news for Republican frontrunner Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina. While the poll’s sample size is small (with a 4.4% margin of error), the poll’s trend is worth noting.

In this same poll, prior to Wednesday night’s debate, Trump sat at 33% support. Dr. Ben Carson sat in second place with 17% support. Today Trump enjoys 36% support. Carson is still in second place but with just 12% support.

Trump’s lead increased from +16 points to  +24%. That’s an +8% jump.

With their shared status as outsiders, it appears as though Carson’s support went to Fiorina. Prior to the debate the former-Hewlett Packard CEO had just 3% support. She now sits in third place with 10%, only -2 points behind second place Carson.

Overall, the Republican Establishment is the Big Loser here. Non-politicians Trump, Carson and Fiorina command 58% of the vote, and that piece of the pie is only growing larger.

Republicans hate the Republican Establishment almost as much as they hate Democrats these days. After multiple repetitions of “This is the Mostest Importantets Election EVER, so you must vote for the corrupt moderate the bankers have chosen to fund” got them precisely nowhere, an increasing number of Republicans realize that literally anything is better than the conservative media-approved candidates.

Both Fiorina and Carson are no-hope non-candidates. The fact that both of them have more appeal than the Walker, Rubio, Cruz, Christie, Bush III et al suffices to demonstrate how little faith the grassroots has in the Establishment.

It’s pretty simple. Both American and European politics are about IMMIGRATION, IMMIGRATION, and IMMIGRATION. If you don’t support immediately repatriating ALL illegal immigrants as a STARTING POINT, you’re just not an electable candidate anymore.

Where the white women at?

That’s what it ultimately comes down to, apparently:

Speaking at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, Ayed stated that European countries were not rolling out the red carpet for migrants because they were compassionate, but because Europe was in dire need of a new source of labor.

“Europe has become old and decrepit and needs human reinforcement….they are not motivated by compassion for the Levant, its people and its refugees,” said Ayed, adding, “Soon, we will trample them underfoot, Allah willing.”

“Throughout Europe, all the hearts are enthused with hatred toward Muslims. They wish that we were dead, but they have lost their fertility, so they look for fertility in our midst,” he added.

“We will give them fertility! We will breed children with them, because we shall conquer their countries!”

Ayed stated that “whether you like it or not,” Americans, Italians, Germans and the French will be forced to take the “refugees”.

“We shall soon collect them in the name of the coming Caliphate. We will say to you: these are our sons. Send them, or we will send our armies to you,” concluded Ayed.

He’s wrong. Reconquista 2.0 is coming. Europe does not belong to them.

Peace in our time

Bibi meets Vladi as Russia contemplates directly intervening in Syria:

Russia said it’s willing to consider sending troops into combat operations in Syria if President Bashar al-Assad’s government requests assistance. While the possibility is hypothetical now, “if there is a request, it will be discussed as part of bilateral contacts,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call on Friday. “Of course it will be discussed and considered.”

The prospect of direct Russian involvement in the country’s civil war, in which more than 250,000 people have died since 2011, would mark a sharp escalation in President Vladimir Putin’s support for the embattled Assad government. The U.S. has accused Russia of increasing military aid to Syria in recent weeks by sending tanks, artillery and personnel, as well as setting up what the Pentagon says might be a forward airbase near the coastal city of Latakia. Syria also hosts Russia’s only naval facility outside the former Soviet Union at Tartus.

The possibility of troop involvement emerged before a visit to Moscow by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday for talks with Putin about Russia’s growing military involvement in Syria. Netanyahu “will present the threats posed to Israel as a result of the increased flow of advanced war material to the Syrian arena and the transfer of deadly weapons to Hezbollah and other terror organizations,” the Israeli government said in an e-mailed statement on Wednesday.

It should be rich listening to the USA, which presently has troops occupying countries all over the world, trying to spin this into Russian aggression. What is particularly interesting is this meeting coming so soon after the first serious defeat of AIPAC in Congress in years. The Soviets and the Israelis were allies in the early years, and I know a lot of Israelis prefer Assad to ISIS and the other Islamist parties.

Mailvox: question format

Shadow #342 had a good question:

Question, VD: what is the file format (eg Excel, Word, etc.) do you want?

Text is fine, but Excel (or to be more precise, .xls or .ods) would be much preferred if you put each element in its own cell, one line per game. That would speed things up considerably. I don’t need the game data formatted this way, just the 10 questions themselves.

[difficulty][question number][question][answer][multiple choice options][correct multiple choice answer]

For example:

[easy][1][On which planet is the game set?][Chiron][1=Hermes;2=Vesta;3=Chiron;4=Eunomia][3]

[easy][2][How many factions were added in Alien Crossfire?][7][1=5;2=6;3=7;4=8][3]

And so forth, where each set of brackets [] indicates a spreadsheet cell.

Please also provide the following information, either in the spreadsheet or in the email to which it is attached:

Game name
Platform(s)
Genre: (action, adventure, strategy, rpg, sim)
Decade: (1980, 1990, 2000, 2010)
Year
Developer
Publisher
Designer name (if known)

UPDATE: Jay sent in a set for Civilization II that worked beautifully. Definitely send them in using spreadsheet format. It’s just as easy to make them that way and a lot easier to put them in the database.

We need 10 questions per game, 4 Easy, 3 Medium, 2 Hard, 1 Expert. Easy questions means anyone who has played the game should be able to get them right. The list of games for which we already have the questions is after the jump.

Inside the Syrian war

One of the things I’ve noticed about the war in Syria is the complete failure of the media and the U.S. government to successfully establish Assad as the official bad guy. This is likely in part due to the fact that he’s the guy fighting the people who are beheading Westerners on YouTube.

This interview with a young Syrian man living in Russia, who volunteered to fight in Syria for the government, is tremendously informative and punctures the Western media narrative in a number of ways.

We talked to Michel Mizah, a 25-year-old citizen of Russia and Syria, who recently returned from Damascus, where he fought in the “Shabiha” pro-government paramilitary units.

He told us what the Syrians think about the war, President Bashar Assad, the Islamic state, and the future.

Why did you decide to go to Syria?

My father is from Syria, and there we still have a lot of relatives with whom we talk to on a daily basis, basically living in two countries at once. We are Christians. My second cousin is fighting in the Syrian army, my uncle and aunt, civilians, were killed in 2012 in Kalamun.

So, each time I saw the news, I was plagued by vague uneasiness… For three years, I wanted to go there, but something always got in the way – wife, job, etc. Only now, everything came together, and I was able to go.

When the “Arab Spring” had just begun, how did your family react?

At first, my family sympathized with the protesters. But then it became obvious that the hardliners among the secular opposition work in the interests of Turkey and the Arab monarchies. Plus the course for Islamization was visible early on, and that was a concern.

Like pretty much all normal people, my family, my friends and everyone I know in Syria are strongly against Wahhabis and religious extremism in general.

In Syria, the war is not against Assad, but against civilization itself. ISIS literally keeps slaves, crucifies people, introduces medieval taxes for Christians and kills Shiites and Alawites on the spot…

Do you, personally, want to live according to Sharia law, where you would be killed for smoking or alcohol, and beaten with sticks in the town square for wearing narrow jeans? Neither do we!

And we know that would happen, if Damascus falls. In Raqqa, it’s already like that, the locals tell us. There are still buses traveling, so we know the alternative to Assad very well.

In Damascus, I met a girl, she was only 20 years old, and she spent the last three months in ISIS slavery. One of their commanders bought her as a concubine, and when he died, she was “inherited” by his successor … Relatives barely managed to buy her back.

Did you know where you’ll be going to in Damascus, was there someone waiting for you?

Of course. About two months before departure, through a friend of the family, I got in touch with my future unit commander in “Shabiha”. This is the same “Shabiha”, which the UN in 2012, accused of “crimes against humanity”.

In general, over two months, I told him about myself: Who am I, what can I do, why do I want to come, and so on … And he explained what is going on over there, what I would do, and lots more.

I would have joined the army, but my turn for mobilization comes last, since I am the only breadwinner in the family, and you can’t simply go there for a short time. My cousin is there for three years, and he can’t even see his family, because the frontline is constantly very hot.

Your militia, did it include only Syrians, or was it an international team?

People come from Lebanon and Iran, because they understand that if Syria falls, they are next. They send us military advisers and weapons … The whole “Shiite axis of evil” supports us!

As for the rest of the world, I have not seen fighters from there… It seemed to me that the Embassy of Syria in Russia does not approve of such things. Perhaps this is due to the rumors about the so-called “Russian Legion”, which a few years ago was hired by some company in St. Pete to fight for Assad [officially, to guard some pipeline or other – ed.]. But when they arrived in Damascus, the Russian diplomats protested, and the “legionnaires” were sent back home, a few were prosecuted for mercenary activities [it’s legal by Russian law to fight in a foreign war, but not to make money from it – ed.].

In general, joining the fight for Syria is only possible if one has Syrian citizenship, or there is some agreement between governments. But the Islamists – they flock to attack Syria from all corners of the world.

It’s also informative in how it punctures the illusions of the multiculturalists. This is a young man who is second-generation “Russian” by their definition of ground-defined identity, and yet he was willing to go and fight and risk dying for Syria, his true nation, rather than fight for Russia. This suggests that the European nations that make the mistake of permitting the current “refugees” residence in Europe will find that their new residents imported the Middle East’s wars with them.

This is something that those who think 50 million Hispanics are going to become Americans in the U.S. sense should keep in mind. They’re not. And indeed, they’re already claiming Los Angeles as the northern capital of Latin America.

As a result, I have compiled a document containing his most recent 1,500+ comments and sent it to the officer. A very brief sample is below.
