It’s official

George Bush admits that the immigration bill is amnesty:

“You know, I’ve heard all the rhetoric – you’ve heard it, too – about how this is amnesty. Amnesty means that you’ve got to pay a price for having been here illegally, and this bill does that.”

Ladies and gentlemen, your Republican president!

How dare they!

Iranian forces enter Iraq and engage the British contingent:

IRANIAN forces are being choppered over the Iraqi border to bomb Our Boys, intelligence chiefs say. Military experts claim this worrying move means we are at WAR with Iran in all but name. Last night an intelligence source told The Sun: “It is an extremely alarming development and raises the stakes considerably. In effect, it means we are in a full on war with Iran — but nobody has officially declared it.

“We have hard proof that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have crossed the border to attack us. It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves. We are badly on the back foot.”

Don’t those mad mullahs know that ignoring national borders and invading other countries is an American perogative? And a British and Polish and Australian and Danish and South Korean and Romanian….

The important thing is to recognize that when someone is looking for a fight, the biggest mistake you can make is to give him one on his terms. Eastern military strategy revolves around traps and ambushes, so it would be extremely unwise for Petraeus to suddenly divert part of his forces to protect the British from these Iranian incursions.

They may be an attempt to distract US forces from Arrowhead Ripper, but more likely they are being made in response to the change in the British government, putting pressure on Brown and giving him an excuse to withdraw from the Coalition of the Willing.

Lying is what lying whores do

I know I’m shocked that Tony Blair isn’t telling the truth about his betrayal of Britain:

Mr Blair, making his penultimate appearance in the Commons as Prime Minister, insisted he had secured a legally-binding protocol on the Charter of Fundamental Rights that would prevent the European Court of Justice applying it to the UK.

It was the most important of the four so-called “red lines” that Mr Blair said he would defend at his final EU summit, which drew up a binding negotiating mandate for a new treaty to replace the proposed constitution, rejected by the voters of France and Holland two years ago. But a legal opinion prepared yesterday by Michael Carpenter, the legal adviser to the Commons European scrutiny committee, said Mr Blair might not have achieved as much as he claimed on “the line of deepest red”.

Mr Carpenter also said that Mr Blair’s declared protection of Britain’s foreign policy following the development of a EU-wide foreign policy “may turn out to be meaningless”…. The legal advice prepared by Mr Carpenter for MPs pointed out that “it appears that all the significant changes made in the constitutional treaty have been reintroduced in one form or another”.

I’m just hoping that’s the extent of Blair’s willingness to sell himself. If he’s taking money for sex too, I truly do not wish to know anything about it.

A metaphorical near-rape

When did Dennis Prager start blogging for Pandagon:

The rape of a name can be as vicious a crime and as destructive an act as the rape of a body. Sometimes the rape of a body is worse; sometimes the rape of a name is worse. But they are both rapes. And morally likening the two is in no way meant to lessen the horror of rape; it is meant only to heighten awareness of the horror of intentionally destroying the name of an innocent person.

This is as deeply and profoundly silly as anything that the rape fetishists on the feminist Left have invented. It confuses metaphor with reality. I have never been raped – although by the expanded Pandagonian definition I am a serial rapist given my willful failure to ever obtain verbal or written consent from any of my victims – but I have been labled a Nazi, a racist, a homosexual, a mysogynist and pretty much every other insult in the limited vocabulary of the Left.

I seem to have survived without the need for therapy. Although sometimes I sit on the beach in front of my villa, looking out over the Mediterranean with a glass of Amaretto in my hand, and a single tear will trickle down my face….

The thing is, there’s no point in losing any sleep over what a lying whore happens to call you, because falsely accusing people is one of the two things that lying whores do. In the very rare circumstance that she causes any legal problems or generates any genuine economic costs to you, sue her and financially ruin her for life. The problem is that most people would rather whine about being victimized than making the effort to strike back effectively.

There should, of course, be some cost to falsely accusing someone. I favor a return to the honor system, wherein the price of attacking a man’s reputation is the chance to cross swords with him. It would certainly make the blogosphere more interesting, as well as more polite.

Media silence

Fred points out how the media hides the fact that blacks commit nearly all of the inter-racial crime in the United States:

Why do the government and the press consciously hide the race of criminals? Part of it is abject cowardice. Part of it is reflex, the journalistic templating that is now almost genetic. Reporters are not thoughtful. White-on-black crime is something you write about. Black-on-white isn’t. Truth doesn’t matter. A reporter wants to keep his job and get along in the news room. You don’t make waves where you work.

The deeper reason, though, is otherwise. If the press reported the extent of black crime, hell could easily break loose.

This is why the Duke charade was obviously false from the start, because white men almost never rape black women. The incidence is so low that it is almost statistical static, whereas black men rape white women thirty times as often. Considering that there are 6.2 times more white men in the USA, this means that a black man is 185 times more likely to rape a white woman. Celebrate diversity!

The delta between what they say

And what girls do is why this won’t work:

The latest TV campaign to encourage drivers to respect speed limits features young women wiggling their little fingers at passing speedsters. The gesture represents a small penis in youth culture but in the ads, even an elderly woman uses the signal. So, too, do other young men who are not in the driver’s seat.

Of course, all the purported audience for these ads have to do is look at the women following the Moto and F1 circuits to realize that girls very much like boys who drive very fast. Because girls don’t like boys, girls like cars and money….

Of Christ and chronic

I’m only surprised that it was the “Bong Hits” they objected to:

The Supreme Court tightened limits on student speech Monday, ruling against a high school student and his 14-foot-long “Bong Hits 4 Jesus” banner. Schools may prohibit student expression that can be interpreted as advocating drug use, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the court in a 5-4 ruling.

I couldn’t possibly care less what is or is not permitted in a public school. It’s like worrying about what the cows are being taught at the meat-packing plant.

Power to the people

Hamas demonstrates the wonders of modern democracy:

Every Hamas patrol carried with it a laptop containing a list of Fatah operatives in Gaza, and an identity number and a star appeared next to each name. A red star meant the operative was to be executed and a blue one meant he was to be shot in the legs – a special, cruel tactic developed by Hamas, in which the shot is fired from the back of the knee so that the kneecap is shattered when the bullet exits the other side. A black star signaled arrest, and no star meant that the Fatah member was to be beaten and released. Hamas patrols took the list with them to hospitals, where they searched for wounded Fatah officials, some of whom they beat up and some of whom they abducted.

Aside from assassinating Fatah officials, Hamas also killed innocent Palestinians, with the intention of deterring the large clans from confronting the organization. Thus it was that 10 days ago, after an hours-long gun battle that ended with Hamas overpowering the Bakr clan from the Shati refugee camp – known as a large, well-armed and dangerous family that supports Fatah – the Hamas military wing removed all the family members from their compound and lined them up against a wall. Militants selected a 14-year-old girl, two women aged 19 and 75, and two elderly men, and shot them to death in cold blood to send a message to all the armed clans of Gaza.

But as we’re often told in the United States, the people voted for them, so therefore their actions must be right. This is one of the better demonstrations of how democracy is an incredibly stupid substitute for limited, decentralized government, even worse than direct democracy is representational democracy, which allows the political and bureaucratic class to do whatever it wants while avoiding responsibility for it.

Although I’m not sure how accurate that report is, because I’m pretty confident that “kneecappings” weren’t invented by Hamas.

Cutting away

So my attempt to follow Spacebunny’s recommendation didn’t work quite the way it was supposed to. Instead of getting down to a nicely-cut 175, which was the goal, I ended up bulking-up to 190. I think the combination of creatine and leg work overwhelmed the slightly higher reps and lower weight program.

Anyhow, SB isn’t what you’d call keen on the mutant human-wolverine look, so I cut out the creatine, (wipes away a tear), cut out the free weight squats, (huzzah!), switched from cappucino to espresso (except for the morning one, I’m focused, not obsessed), and amped up the cardio (mo bike mo bettah). That seems to be working as I’ve already dropped four pounds, although since my friend Giorgio helpfully kicked me in the calf at the end of our pick-up game today legs tomorrow should be interesting. I also jacked up the reps from 12-10-8-6 to 15-15-12-12 and the veins are starting to come out, so apparently the lean train is starting to roll.

All bets are off, of course, if Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris elect to take me up on my offer to meet them in the UFC Octagon. I think I’d want to hit that with the full wolverine at 195. But I’m up for taking on any of the New Atheists in any way, be it a debate at the Oxford Union or UFC-style complete WITH FISHHOOK. The only thing that worries me – nay, terrifies me – is the thought of a shot contest against Christopher Hitchens and his liver.
