12 things I learned from 12 Rules of Life

So, I finished the book and took a reasonable amount of notes, although considerably fewer than I would have anticipated. This is not my review, which I’ll probably post on Monday, merely a list of things I noted directly from the book rather than from interviews, videos, or statements by his fans or detractors.

12 Things I learned from reading 12 Rules for Life: A Darkstream

  1. Jordan Peterson is doing philosophy and religion, not psychology or science.
  2. Jordan Peterson is a gamma male and a physical coward
  3. Jordan Peterson is a man who is psychologically scarred by tragedy. This is probably why he believes both life and evil are primarily defined by suffering. He has really suffered and he genuinely merits an amount of pity.
  4. Jordan Peterson is not a man of the Right
  5. Jordan Peterson is not a Christian
  6. Jordan Peterson does not understand evil
  7. Jordan Peterson doesn’t entirely believe in individual responsibility.
  8. Jordan Peterson does not know what chaos is.
  9. Jordan Peterson does not follow his own advice.
  10. Jordan Peterson does not have a good grasp of either science or history.
  11. Jordan Peterson’s perspective is shaped by Holocaustianity.
  12. Jordan Peterson is a moderate who worships balance.

Darkstream: the lunacy of Jordan Peterson

I’m doing a Periscope addressing my earlier post about Peterson today. This is the place for your comments on it, live or otherwise.

UPDATE: Even Peterson’s fans have no faith in his intellectual integrity.

JBP will never debate Vox. It is a “No Win” for him. First he would take heavy criticism for even associating with Vox. Second even if he takes Vox apart no one will care, because outside of hardcore politics/culture war guys… no one knows Vox.

Of course he won’t debate me. I never thought for a moment that he would, because it is far more likely that he would break down and cry than take me apart. Look, the reason the guy is always obsessing about making a mistake that will ruin him forever is because he’s an imposter and he knows it.

Once you know he’s a gamma, you know everything you need to predict his behavior. Success will make him more hubristic and self-righteous, then he’ll self-sabotage.

UPDATE: This email was amusing, but I appreciated the sentiment.

Until today, I never really thought about how much flat-out lunacy and inanity you get hit with every freaking day.

Where do you think MPAI came from. Unlike Jordan Peterson’s philosophy, Marcus Aurelius’s is still useful. Peterson tells you to lie to yourself. Aurelius’s advice is rather more useful.

Begin each day by telling yourself: Today I shall be meeting with interference, ingratitude, insolence, disloyalty, ill-will, and selfishness – all of them due to the offenders’ ignorance of what is good or evil.

That’s a bit more gracious than my version – the father of Commodus was obviously too optimistic – but it’s good advice.

In which I address Jordan Peterson

As you’ve probably noted, I have remained resolutely silent on the man. Tonight, at about 7:15 EST, I’m doing a Darkstream to address what I believe to be his inherent lack of intellectual honesty and integrity. Tune in via Periscope.

My analysis of the so-called “Jewish question” has been criticized by exactly the people you would expect to criticize it. I responded today with an update, making the mathematical case linking higher IQ to higher Jewish achievement properly:

In summary, his updated case is based on a false premise that is supported by inaccurate numbers which are based on irrelevant and outdated studies that never purported to claim what is being cited. It is the most intellectually shoddy case I have seen any public intellectual attempt to make since Richard Dawkins tried to prove that a religious upbringing is worse than sexual abuse in childhood by citing an apocryphal story about Alfred Hitchcock driving through Switzerland.

Peterson would have done much better to simply state that he is not free to state his opinion on the subject since he lives in Canada and is subject to Canadian anti-speech laws.

Startup basics

I finally got the White Bull himself to launch a Periscope. It went pretty well for his first time, and he’s putting together a plan to cover a lot of the basics that the average entrepreneur simply doesn’t know. You can watch the first one here.

One thing that is definitely going to be needed is a glossary. It was kind of funny when he suddenly realized that most people simply aren’t familiar with a fair number of words that one tends to take for granted in that world.

Stupidity is no substitute for strategy

This Darkstream should amuse the Men of the West, who were arguing all along that the Alt-Reich were simply incapable of possessing any utility for defending America or the West. I thought they were extremists, but as it happens, they are nothing more than attention-seekers interested in “bantz” and “triggering the faggits” and “edgy” symbolism rather than actually seeking to win the cultural war.
It’s not “counter-signaling” or “punching right” to reject counterproductive morons who stubbornly refuse to learn anything from one failure after another. I stand by every single one of the 16 Points of the Alt-Right. But I have no more time or patience to spare for strategically-deficient cosplayers. Even Andrew Anglin appears to recognize this now.
“Publicly aligning ourselves to an old and extinct political movement is not forward thinking, and it isn’t fresh… NS was a Hitler personality cult, when it comes right down to it.”

The Reichtards are Fake Right. Their claim to be the One True Alt-Right is totally laughable, as they are pro-EU, pro-single payer health insurance socialists. Punching them is punching Left.
Hence today’s Meme of the Day.

The construction of rhetoric

In last night’s Darkstream, I noted that the most effective rhetoric tends to have something in common: it is based on mocking an aspect of the target’s self-identification.

For example, the reason Social Justice Warrior is effective rhetoric that triggers the emotions of SJWs while derogatory terms like Social Justice Bully and Social Justice Crybaby do not is because “warrior” is a term that the SJWs gave themselves, and more importantly, it is how they see themselves. To hear the term used contemptuously, as an open form of mockery, is what causes the emotional pain that triggers them.

Fake News, which is arguably the most effective rhetorical term ever deployed against the media, is almost exactly the same. It is a term originally coined by the media, but stolen and deployed against them, and one that strikes at the very heart of their self-value and self-identification as devotees of truth and accuracy.

So, as an exercise, let’s see if anyone can utilize this principle to come up with a rhetorical term for moderates that would serve as an alternative to Cuckservative, which is itself already an effective tag that is a play on a self-title rather than an actual one, but nevertheless strikes powerfully at the conservative’s self-image as loyal and moral.
