Who is the goofball?

Howard Dean defines the difference between the parties:

“I was recently asked about the difference between the Democratic and Republican parties,” Dean said. “When it comes right down to it, the essential difference is that the Democrats fundamentally believe it is important to make sure that American Jews feel comfortable being American Jews.”

The Chairman of the Democratic Party informs us that the only difference between Democrat and Republican is the perception of comfort on the part of a miniscule fraction of the populace.

Naturally, Jonah Goldberg of National Review considers this to be “the dumbest, weirdest, goofiest explanation of political differences ever offered” because there are such major differences between the two parties, such as:

Government spending
National sovereignty
Immigration
The United Nations
Invading foreign countries
Occupying foreign countries
NAFTA, FTAA and the AU
The federal deficit
The Federal Reserve
Women in the military
Government-defined marriage
Public schools
Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security
Campaign Finance Reform aka repealing the 1st Amendment
The 10th Amendment

Clearly you’d all better get out there and vote this November! After all, it will be the Most Important Election of Our Lifetimes! Or is that 2008? Wait a minute, did I miss something? I seem to recall that it was 2004!
