Going the way of the Whigs

Republicans are rapidly realizing that voting for Republicans isn’t going to provide them with the sort of government, or the sort of society, they prefer:

According to a new poll, nearly half of Republicans say they will leave the Republican Party to join a third-party created and led by former President Donald Trump. That doesn’t bode well for the Republican establishment.

The new poll by Suffolk University-USA Today found a whopping 46 percent of Republicans are willing to leave the GOP in order to a join new party created by Donald Trump. Just 27 percent of Republicans said they would stick with the GOP, and the rest are undecided.

“We feel like Republicans don’t fight enough for us, and we all see Donald Trump fighting for us as hard as he can, every single day,” said Brandon Keidl, a 27-year-old Republican and small-business owner from Milwaukee. “But then you have establishment Republicans who just agree with establishment Democrats and everything, and they don’t ever push back.”

The question, of course, is if the new America First party will actually put America and Americans first or not. Because there is no doubt that the Establishment will already be moving to subvert it before it even begins to take form.

Acronyms are racist

The unintentional comedy of the Year Zero crowd is rapidly approaching 11.

Have you ever been to San Francisco, the real San Francisco? The city where you see people taking dumps on the sidewalks like it’s just another day, another dump? I spent eight days in the heart of the city during Super Bowl 50 week and got a serious taste of the craziness. I personally saw a guy taking a dump right on the sidewalk only to continue on down the street like it was no big deal.

Now let’s get to the latest craziness in the San Francisco Unified School District Arts Department, which is dropping its “VAPA” (visual and performing arts) acronym because “acronyms are a symptom of white supremacy culture,” according to the department director.

“We are prioritizing antiracist arts instruction in our work,” Sam Bass, Director of the SFUSD Arts Department, explained. “It is a very simple step we can take to just be referred to as the SFUSD Arts Department for families to better understand who we are.”

I’m just curious what he thinks “SFUSD” is, if not an acronym. Does he actually pronounce it “sphussd”?

Seriously, if you don’t fight, and win, this battle for Western civilization, you will lose your indoor plumbing. Don’t think you won’t.

The end of Instapundit

It’s genuinely tragic to observe the ongoing decline of Instapundit into irrelevance. Glenn is a smart man who made a suboptimal, but understandable decision to get involved with a petty wannabe media tycoon when Roger Simon launched Pajamas Media, mostly on the back of Instapundit’s popularity. The real problem is that Glenn exacerbated that poor decision with the horrendous one to give the execrable Ed Driscoll and the equally ridiculous Stephen Green posting privileges there for reasons that remain an utter mystery.

While I’m grateful to Glenn and Helen for supporting Castalia House in the early years by posting links to our new book releases, I first stopped reading there, and then actually removed my links to their site some time ago due to the incessant judeosatanist propaganda being relentlessly pushed by Driscoll and Green there. And now it’s evident that more than a few of Instapundit’s readers feel the same way.

Sheesh, reading some of these comments I wonder why I even bother with this place. Then again, that’s probably the aim.

No, Glenn, it’s the exact opposite of the aim. Listen to what your fans and supporters are telling you! Your site simply sucks now. Plain and simple. It’s literally unreadable, what with all the non-stop neoconnery and Never-Trumpism, to the point that it’s actually hard to distinguish it from National Review. It isn’t trolls who are hammering you, it is your longtime readers who dislike what you permitted Instapundit to become. They don’t want you to quit. They desperately want you to kick out Driscoll, Green, and Treacher and get back to doing what you once did better than everyone else.

  • “This place?” It’s YOUR place, remember? You built it. It seems like you sold off most of it to Driscoll, but despite some disagreements we may have, you’re an important voice. It’s sad that you only get paid on amazon clicks now. You deserve better.
  • This is beneath a man of your integrity. You associate your site with men of low character (Treacher), your partner (Driscoll) ignores good faith criticism of that, and then you wonder why your rep is taking a hit? Are you intending to treat your audience with disdain and contempt? Because that is how it is coming across to me, and I have read you (and Ace) almost every day for the last 20 years. You are just going to continue to ignore people like me? Loyal readers. Turn sheepdogs into wolves?

Partner? Sold off? Interesting. If it is true that Glenn permitted Driscoll to “invest” in Instapundit, that would certainly explain its ongoing, and inevitable, decline.

It IS low-hanging fruit

Perhaps SNL simply realizes they can never out-parody the real Creepy Joe and Javier.

Saturday Night Live completely avoided parodying Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in its first episode since the pair were sworn into office.

Hosted by John Krasinki, the first SNL of 2021 managed to not feature either the president or vice president in its skits.

Instead it featured special ‘appearances’ from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Mark Zuckerberg and Tom Brady.

The move was blasted online by some viewers who described the show as a ‘snoozefest’ which is ‘too scared of getting canceled’.

Others noted how Donald Trump had been the butt of their jokes for the past four years.

Although what they should have done is have the real Javier Bardem guest-host and then play his doppleganger.

Seriously, so what?

Why on Earth should Americans care that the Chinese government is jailing its citizens for tweets of which it doesn’t approve?

China’s Communist Party has sentenced more than 50 people to prison in the past three years for using Twitter and other platforms banned in China to criticize Chinese leader Xi Jinping and his government. The Wall Street Journal reports the growing use of prison sentences marks an escalation of China’s efforts to “control narratives and strangle criticism outside China’s cloistered internet.”

The majority of users that China has imprisoned have little influence and reach. Among the detained citizens, their online followings range from the hundreds to the low thousands, with one having fewer than 30 followers…. This entire story is sickening and is in dire need of help. And it will take more than Big Tech platforms to make a change. All companies in the US that are profiting largely from China must stand up, this includes the NBA which has refused to condemn slave labor, and Apple and Nike, two companies that actually lobbied against cracking down on forced labor in China. Until the NBA, Nike, Apple, and Pepsi make strong stances against China’s behavior toward its citizens and its handling of social media use, all their social justice campaigns should be viewed as what they are: opportunistic and phony.

Is Clay Travis really unaware that Douglass Mackey was recently arrested for tweets he posted four years ago? He wasn’t arrested in Shanghai or Beijing, he was arrested in West Palm Beach. By the FBI, who is also looking to arrest four more people on similar charges.

Americans desperately need to stop fretting about what is happening on the other side of the world and start paying a lot more attention to what is happening to them in their own backyard.

The tiger approaches

The elections are fake. The stock markets are fake. The money is fake. The courts are fake. The police are frauds. The military is gay, trans, and fabulous. It appears that Tiger Time is rapidly approaching the once-great United States empire.

The Great American Middle Class has stood meekly by while the New Nobility stripmined $50 trillion from the middle and working classes. As this RAND report documents, $50 trillion has been siphoned from labor and the lower 90{3549d4179a0cbfd35266a886b325f66920645bb4445f165578a9e086cbc22d08} of the workforce to the New Nobility and their technocrat lackeys who own the vast majority of the capital: Trends in Income From 1975 to 2018.

Why has the Great American Middle Class meekly accepted their new role as debt-serfs and powerless peasants in a Neofeudal Economy ruled by the New Nobility of Big Tech / monopolies / cartels / financiers? The basic answer is the New Nobility’s PR has been so persuasive and ubiquitous: soaring inequality and Neofeudalism has nothing to do with us, it’s just the natural result of technology and globalization–forces nobody can resist. Sorry about your debt-serfdom, but hey, your student loan payment is overdue, so it’s the rack for you.

The recent Foreign Affairs article referenced here last week Monopoly Versus Democracy describes the net result of the economic propaganda that the stripmining of the working and middle classes was ordained and irresistible: Today, Americans tend to see grotesque accumulations of wealth and power as normal. That’s how far we’ve fallen:

“As the journalist Barry Lynn points out in his book Liberty from All Masters: The New American Autocracy vs. the Will of the People, the robber barons shared with today’s high-tech monopolists a strategy of encouraging people to see immense inequality as a tragic but unavoidable consequence of capitalism and technological change. But as Lynn shows, one of the main differences between then and now is that, compared to today, fewer Americans accepted such rationalizations during the Gilded Age. Today, Americans tend to see grotesque accumulations of wealth and power as normal. Back then, a critical mass of Americans refused to do so, and they waged a decades-long fight for a fair and democratic society.”

The bottom 90{3549d4179a0cbfd35266a886b325f66920645bb4445f165578a9e086cbc22d08} of the U.S. economy has been decapitalized: debt has been substituted for capital. Capital only flows into the increasingly centralized top tier, which owns and profits from the rising tide of debt that’s been keeping the bottom 90{3549d4179a0cbfd35266a886b325f66920645bb4445f165578a9e086cbc22d08} afloat for the past 20 years.

Not only that, but the robber barons were, for the most part, Americans themselves. They felt some sense of obligation to their fellow Americans, and knew that an amount of restraint and noblesse oblige was required. The lawless and mostly foreign elite that presently rules the USA feels no sense of obligation to the American people and therefore knows no restraints. The situation somehow calls to mind a little Chinese poem written by Zhang Xianzhong, who lived in similarly evil times. Consider the history of the man known as the Yellow Tiger.

Towards the end the Ming dynasty, drought, famines and epidemics broke out in various part of China. In the late 1620s, peasants revolted in Shaanxi, resisting attempts by the Ming government to collect grains and taxes. They coalesced into rebel armies called “roving bandits” (liúkòu 流寇) because of their highly mobile nature, and spread into other parts of China. Chang escaped from the army, joined the rebel forces in Mizhi County in 1630, and established himself as a rebel leader, styling himself Bada Wang (八大王, Eighth Great King). His mobile forces would conduct raids along the western edge of Shaanxi, plundering swiftly and hiding out in the hills. Later he moved into other provinces, moving from place to place raiding towns and cities. He was defeated at various times by the Ming forces; Chang would also surrender when it was expedient for him to do so, for example in 1631 and 1638, but would then later regroup and resume rebellion.

In 1635 he joined a larger confederation of bandits that included another rebel leader, Li Zicheng (Li would later capture Beijing and end the Ming rule there). They devastated Henan and pushed into Anhui. After they had burnt the Ming ancestral temple at Zhongdu (Fengyang) in Anhui and ravaged the area, the rebel armies broke up and Chang headed to Hubei. In 1637, joined by other rebels and with an army now reaching a size of 300,000 men, he again pushed into Anhui, then to Jiangsu, and almost down to Nanjing. But he was defeated there and he retreated back to Hubei. In 1638, he surrendered to Ming supreme commander Xiong Wencan (熊文燦) and was allowed to serve as a regional Ming commander. However, he reneged on the agreement in 1639 and rebelled, and later defeated the Ming forces led by the Ming general Zuo Liangyu (左良玉). In 1640, he suffered defeats at the hand of Zuo and had to flee with few followers into the mountains of Eastern Sichuan. In 1641 he emerged from Sichuan and attacked Xiangyang, capturing and executing the imperial prince there.

In 1643, he took Macheng in Hubei, and his army swelled to some 57,000 after incorporating the city’s rebels.[12] He then captured the provincial capital of Wuchang, killed the imperial prince there, and proclaimed himself “Xi Wang” (King of the West).

Zhang was apparently a man of literary gifts as well as martial ones. He left words engraved on a stele that are among the most haunting ever written.

Heaven brings forth innumerable things to nurture Man.

Man has nothing good with which to recompense Heaven.

Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill.

Adios, comic book stores

When we started Arkhaven Comics, we initially thought we would be offering a new form of distribution to the comic book shops. And while the first shops we spoke to were interested, it rapidly became apparent to me that they were not a viable distribution channel, or at least, would not be for long. The Dark Herald observes that it appears DC has now reached the same conclusion:

A new article has just been posted by Bleeding Cool, more or less confirming what I had posited in my Red Honeymoon peace.

That DC is Getting out of the monthly pamphlet business. And that means abandoning the comic shops.

“That the Warner Bros firings of yet more DC Comics senior staffers, and the subsequent fallout across the company is part of a series of measures that will include a switch away from month print comic books towards digital comic book serialization of stories, then collected in trade paperback sized volumes, or larger, thicker, anthologies aimed at a general mass market, a bookstore market, the bookfair market, the likes of Amazon – and then comic book stores and the direct market almost as an afterthought.

DC is reportedly offering its characters and properties for license, but at exorbitant rates that don’t make sense for anyone. No worries, Arkhaven is going to be introducing a considerable amount of new content in the new year. And yes, a certain war is going to be a particular point of emphasis; you’re not going to believe what The Legend has planned.

Four more years

It increasingly appears the voters have bought the USA four more years to get things straight before the centrifugal forces begin to dismantle the societal structures:

Blue Americans cannot bear thought of four more years of Trump, his desecration of the values that made America a beacon to the world, his bullying and lies, his undermining of the norms and institutions that make America work, his contempt for European allies, and his kowtowing to foreign dictators. They fear that Trump will use false claims of election fraud and the post-election social unrest to engineer a military coup, in which he would set himself up as dictator, and abolish free press and American democracy.

Red Americans fear a Biden administration that will open borders to massive immigration, encourage looting and property destruction by BLM and antifa rioters, take away their guns, increase their taxes, and end the oil and gas industry in America. Many see Biden as the senile figurehead for the global cabal of Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and child-sex predators that include prominent Democrats, Hollywood elites, and deep state allies, whose aim is to establish an unelected “liberal dictatorship” that would abolish freedom of speech and American democracy.

Each side sees the world in Manichean terms and increasingly endorses violence as the necessary means to prevent the other side from staying in, or coming to power. As a result, we are in an extremely fragile state, which in technical terms is known as the revolutionary situation.

What will happen on November 3? One possibility is that one side wins by a landslide and the other accepts it. This is what the generals fervently hope for. This would avoid a civil war, at least for a time. The problem is that neither side has shown any willingness or understanding to solve the structural problems that have brought about the current revolutionary situation. And it takes years to reverse the negative structural-demographic trends, even once the necessary reforms are implemented. So we simply kick the problem forward to 2024.

But Peter Turchin is right. A Trumpslide doesn’t solve anything, it simply gives Americans a little more time to get serious about addressing the sickness at the heart of the US empire before it is too late.

Of course, it could be worse. It could be a LOT worse. This dementia-addled guy might have won.

Joe Biden introduces his granddaughter by saying, “This is my son, Beau Biden, who a lot of you helped elect to the Senate in Delaware. This is…this is my granddaughter, Natalie. No wait, no wait. We got the wrong one.”

Beau Biden died in 2015. He never even ran for the Senate.

The war that was lost

Immigration, as the great Israeli military historian Martin van Creveld has shown, is war. And that war, not WWI, WWII, or the Cold War, was the true existential war that America faced, and lost, as demonstrated by this selection from The Old World in the New: The Significance of Past and Present Immigration to the American People, published in 1914 by sociologist E.A. Ross:

If you should ask an Englishman whether the tone of political life in his country would remain unaffected by the admission to the electorate of a couple of million Cypriotes, Vlachs, and Bessarabians after five years’ residence, he would take you for a madman. Suggest to the German that the plane of political intelligence in reading and thinking Germany would not be lowered by the access to the ballot-box of multitudes of Serbs, Georgians, and Druses of Lebanon, and he will consign you to bedlam. Assure the son of Norway that the vote of the Persian or Yemenite, of sixty months’ residence in Norway, will be as often wise and right as his own, and he will be insulted. It is only we Americans who assume that the voting of the Middle Atlantic States, with their million of naturalized citizens, or of the East North Central States, with their million, is as sane, discriminating, and forward-looking as it would be without them.

The Italian historian and sociologist Ferrero, after reviewing our immigration policy, concludes that the Americans, far from being “practical,” are really the mystics of the modern world. He says: “To confer citizenship each year upon great numbers of men born and educated in foreign countries—men who come with ideas and sympathies totally out of spirit with the diverse conditions in the new country; to grant them political rights they do not want, and of which they have never thought; to compel them to declare allegiance to a political constitution which they often do not understand; to try to transform subjects of old European monarchies into free citizens of young American republics over night—is not all this to do violence to common sense?”

As I sought to show, near the end of my initial chapter, the conditions of settlement of this country caused those of uncommon energy and venturesomeness to outmultiply the rest of the population. Thus came into existence the pioneering breed; and this breed increased until it is safe to estimate that fully half of white Americans with native grandparents have one or more pioneers among their ancestors. Whatever valuable race traits distinguish the American people from the parent European stocks are due to the efflorescence of this breed. Without it there would have been little in the performance of our people to arrest the attention of the world. Now we confront the melancholy spectacle of this pioneer breed being swamped and submerged by an overwhelming tide of latecomers from the old-world hive. In Atlanta still seven out of eight white men had American parents; in Nashville and Richmond, four out of five; in Kansas City, two out of three; and in Los Angeles, one out of two; but in Detroit, Cleveland, and Paterson one man out of five had American parents; in Chicago and New York, one out of six; in Milwaukee, one out of seven; and in Fall River, one out of nine. Certainly never since the colonial era have the foreign-born and their children formed so large a proportion of the American people as at the present moment. I scanned 368 persons as they passed me in Union Square, New York, at a time when the garment-workers of the Fifth Avenue lofts were returning to their homes. Only thirty-eight of these passers-by had the type of face one would find at a county fair in the West or South.

In the six or seven hundred thousand strangers that yearly join themselves to us for good and all, there are to be found, of course, every talent and every beauty. Out of the steerage come persons as fine and noble as any who have trodden American soil. Any adverse characterization of an immigrant stream implies, then, only that the trait is relatively frequent, not that it is universal.

In this sense it is fair to say that the blood now being injected into the veins of our people is “sub-common.” To one accustomed to the aspect of the normal American population, the Caliban type shows up with a frequency that is startling. Observe immigrants not as they come travel-wan up the gang-plank, nor as they issue toil-begrimed from pit’s mouth or mill gate, but in their gatherings, washed, combed, and in their Sunday best. You are struck by the fact that from ten to twenty per cent. are hirsute, low-browed, big-faced persons of obviously low mentality. Not that they suggest evil. They simply look out of place in black clothes and stiff collar, since clearly they belong in skins, in wattled huts at the close of the Great Ice Age. These oxlike men are descendants of those who always stayed behind. Those in whom the soul burns with the dull, smoky flame of the pine-knot stuck to the soil, and are now thick in the sluiceways of immigration. Those in whom it burns with a clear, luminous flame have been attracted to the cities of the home land and, having prospects, have no motive to submit themselves to the hardships of the steerage.

To the practised eye, the physiognomy of certain groups unmistakably proclaims inferiority of type. I have seen gatherings of the foreign-born in which narrow and sloping foreheads were the rule. The shortness and smallness of the crania were very noticeable. There was much facial asymmetry. Among the women, beauty, aside from the fleeting, epidermal bloom of girlhood, was quite lacking. In every face there was something wrong—lips thick, mouth coarse, upper lip too long, cheek-bones too high, chin poorly formed, the bridge of the nose hollowed, the base of the nose tilted, or else the whole face prognathous. There were so many sugar-loaf heads, moon-faces, slit mouths, lantern-jaws, and goose-bill noses that one might imagine a malicious jinn had amused himself by casting human beings in a set of skew-molds discarded by the Creator.

Our captains of industry give a crowbar to the immigrant with a number nine face on a number six head, make a dividend out of him, and imagine that is the end of the matter. They overlook that this man will beget children in his image—two or three times as many as the American—and that these children will in turn beget children. They chuckle at having opened an inexhaustible store of cheap tools and, lo! the American people is being altered for all time by these tools. Once before, captains of industry took a hand in making this people. Colonial planters imported Africans to hoe in the sun, to “develop” the tobacco, indigo, and rice plantations. Then, as now, business-minded men met with contempt the protests of a few idealists against their way of “building up the country.”

Those promoters of prosperity are dust, but they bequeathed a situation which in four years wiped out more wealth than two hundred years of slavery had built up, and which presents to-day the one unsolvable problem in this country. Without likening immigrants to negroes, one may point out how the latter-day employer resembles the old-time planter in his blindness to the effects of his labor policy upon the blood of the nation.

If America is to leave behind any historical legacy for the ages, it is this. First, pick your own damn cotton. Second, always sink the ships. Third, never let business-minded men set national policy, because for all their pragmatism, they are totally incapable of seeing anything beyond tomorrow’s pocketbook.

Seldom has a Cassandra foreseen coming catastrophe more clearly. It is small, though rather cold, comfort to know that the die was cast long before most of us were even born. Even so, Ross’s closing paragraph is a haunting one.

“The Roman world was laughing when it died.” Any couple or any people that does not feel it has anything to transmit to its children may well reason in such fashion. A couple may reflect, “It is simpler, speedier, and cheaper for us to adopt orphans than to produce children of our own.” A nation may reason, “Why burden ourselves with the rearing of children? Let them perish unborn in the womb of time. The immigrants will keep up the population.” A people that has no more respect for its ancestors and no more pride of race than this deserves the extinction that surely awaits it.

What ails the USA

The two primary problems are debt and immigration, as can be seen by this comparison of 1952 and 2020 prices.

Any program or policy that does not directly address those two problems, or remove those responsible for creating those two problems from influence, will fail.
