Chuck Dixon’s Avalon #2

Arkhaven Comics is proud to announce the release of the digital edition of CHUCK DIXON’S AVALON #2: RULEBREAKER. Kindle and CBZ editions have already been sent out to Alt★Hero campaign backers.

Detective Ben Church is hot on the heels of the vigilante who murdered a city councilman in broad daylight. But agents of the UN Superhuman Protection Council are interfering with his investigation, even as they claim that they can help him clean up Avalon City. Should he believe them? More importantly, can he trust them?

Meanwhile, King Ace has dealt with his partner-in-crimefighting Fazer’s little slip-up with regards to the unwritten Hero’s Code, but that doesn’t keep them from going after the notorious crime boss, Nicodemus Vukovich, together. The problem, King Ace discovers, is that there is a lot of temptation to be found in a wealthy crime lord’s uptown apartment. Perhaps too much temptation for anyone….

Chuck Dixon is the most prolific comic book writer in history. Set in the world of Alt★Hero, CHUCK DIXON’S AVALON #2: RULEBREAKER is the legend’s newest creation.

In other Alt★Hero-related news, Arkhaven Comics is pleased to announce that the Gold Logo edition of Alt★Hero #4: The War in Paris is now available at Arkhaven Direct. Please note that a large retailer has already ordered a not-insignificant fraction of the total number available, so if you want the limited edition issue, it would be best not to wait on this one.

Cliff Cosmic, Richard Bonk, and Arklight Studios are currently hard at work on Alt★Hero Issues #5 and #6, so it looks very promising for the first paperback and hardcover omnibuses to come out in plenty of time for Christmas. We also expect to release the first Premium editions soon. There is no new news on the film front.

UPDATE: It looks like the publication date problem is fixed.

Publisher: Arkhaven Comics
Format: Paperback
Publication Date: 09/11/2018

Alt★Hero #4: The War in Paris

Arkhaven Comics is pleased to announce the publication of the digital edition of Alt★Hero #4: The War in Paris. This marks the fifth of the 24 issues promised in the original Alt★Hero campaign, and we will release the sixth, Chuck Dixon’s Avalon #2, next week. The first paperback and hardcover omnibuses are expected to be sent to backers after the first six editions of Alt★Hero are completed in October.

Inspired by the German government’s crackdown on nationalists in Berlin, Antifa is now on the march in Paris. And despite being hunted by the police and the Global Justice Initiative, Jean-Michel Durand is determined to stand with his generation against the enemies of France. But how can even the most steadfast nationalists hope to stop Antifa when the riot police, a United Nations Incident Team, and Captain Europa himself stand in their way?

Alt★Hero is the first in an exciting new line of superhero comics from Arkhaven Comics.

From the early reviews:

  • The best one yet. I thought this was going to be good, I didn’t expect it to be great.
  • This story is shaping up to be epic. With the simultaneous events going on in the US and in Europe with its contemporary setting. I am liking everything I see and have been surprised by the story development. The story is developing, the artwork is improving, the coloring looks great and the visualization of the action, especially in Number 4, is striking.
  • This has one of the best brouhahas I’ve seen in comics in quite awhile. Most of the fistfights I’ve seen lately end with one or two punches, and there isn’t any sense of risk or danger to the hero. But this one really gave you a sense like it could go either way. And I like the way Europa is presented as a man willing to take morally questionable actions, rather than a straight-up mustache-twirling villain.
  • If this is the standard that Vox Day and his merry band of writers and artists intend to set and exceed with their next release, the future is looking very bright indeed for those of us who love good comics.
  • The best yet. With this issue Alt*Hero fully hits its stride.
Two more issues to go before we send out the first paperback and hardcover omnibuses. It has taken a while, but we’re getting there.

UPDATE: #1 New Release in Superhero Comics & Graphic Novels

Alt★Hero update

This is a two-fer. First, Alt★Hero: Q is now at 122{5dfb4fe807270352604383a4bd284e9c2f750f723eea774ab60c829f9eb57e2c} of goal with 772 backers. We’ve added a full-color third page to the campaign as well as a stretch goal at $65,000 featuring a new artist, so be sure to check out the campaign even if you’re already backing it.

Second, if you’re a backer of the original Alt★Hero campaign, please check your email. And if you didn’t receive anything PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM AND SOCIAL FOLDERS before doing anything else. We will be announcing a new Alt★Hero issue tomorrow, but it is available for backers now.

We also expect to release Chuck Dixon’s Avalon #2 within a week.

And for those who are still confused by the file formats, the MOBI for Kindle format works on Amazon Kindles and Kindle apps. The CBZ format requires a CBZ reader or a CBZ reader app, which are readily available on the iOS app store, the Google Play Store, and the Windows app store.

UPDATE: PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CANNOT SEND OUT BOOKS THAT DO NOT EXIST. Look, this is really not that hard. The four omnibuses of the original Alt-Hero campaign consist of 24 24-page single issues, and each omnibus collects six issues. FIVE of those issues have been completed, (four in one series) and downloads for those five digital editions have been sent to everyone.

WE WILL NOT SEND OUT ANY PAPERBACK OR HARDCOVER OMNIBUSES TO BACKERS UNTIL ALT-HERO ISSUE #6 IS COMPLETE. As we have just completed Issue #4, it should be obvious that we have not, cannot, and will not send out any omnibus editions yet.

AH:Q Day 4 update

The Alt-Hero: Q campaign is more or less on track with the original Alt-Hero campaign, which is good. We’ll be announcing a new stretch goal soon, probably for the 75k level, as soon as I work things out with the relevant parties. In the meantime, we’ve updated the content with a new b/w page 4, so be sure to check out the campaign even if you’ve already backed it.

Now that the project has been green-lit, we’ve secured the commitments of the Writer (The Legend Chuck Dixon), the Illustrator (Hélix Haze) and the Colorist (Arklight Studios) whose works were featured in the campaign, and we’re now arranging the artists for the cover art for Issues #1-6. We’ll also be using the same Letterer, who is currently putting the finishing touches on CDA #2 and AH #4.

AH:Q halfway there

In just 16 hours and 30 minutes, the Alt★Hero: Q campaign has reached 50 percent of its $50k goal with 335 backers. This is a very good start, although it doesn’t appear that the campaign will threaten Ethan van Sciver’s Cyberfrog record of $93k on Day One. But if the QAnon crowd elects to get behind the graphic novel, perhaps Cyberfrog‘s other records of 8426 backers and $530k total campaign funding will prove to be within reach.

The number of backers is particularly encouraging, as it indicates that the campaign will likely have more than 1k more backers than the original campaign by the time it ends.

If you supported the campaign, thank you very much. We won’t let you down. If you’re considering doing so, I’d encourage you to go ahead and take the leap of faith. The art team has confirmed that they are on-board for the entire graphic novel and The Legend Chuck Dixon is probably wrapping up Issue #3 already at this minute. Seriously, he’s one-man production machine and speaking as a professional comic book writer, I can honestly say that I hate him and his smug “hey, so here’s ANOTHER completed script!”

(That tapping sound you hear is the pencils of Cliff Cosmic and Richard Bonk as they wait patiently for more AH #5 and AH #7 script.)

And speaking of hate, the comics-SJWs have learned to maintain a strategic radio silence, but the QAnon-skeptics have not. From Twitter, a few reactions to the AH:Q trailer.

Conspirador Norteño@conspirator0
This isn’t the stupidest thing I’ve seen all day, but it’s close. Actually: correction. It is the stupidest thing I’ve seen all day, and that includes spilling fruit punch energy drink all over the interior of my car. #QAnon #FollowTheWhiteRabbit #Resist

Bungler@UshiromiyaBungl
wtf is this shit, who on earth thought anything in this trailer was a good idea

Bugaboo@gymbomom2
Full retard: Q Comics.  ???

UPDATE: AH:Q Day One total: 481 backers, $37,312, and 75 percent of goal. That’s actually better than the original Alt-Hero campaign, which came in at exactly $37,000 on the first day! Thanks very much to everyone who backed. We’ve still got 29 days left, so spread the word!

Review of Alt-Hero #3

Bounding Into Comics reviews AH#3: Reprisal:

Even with its slower pace, the world that’s being expanded on in Alt-Hero #3 is an interesting one and this issue, more than any before it, sends some harrowing echoes throughout its universe that will, eventually, come to an explosive head. I am thoroughly interested in seeing how this will all play out and I fully expect to see people switching sides before the end. It echoes with shades of the best parts of Marvel’s Civil War storyline (the first one, not that second one) and anyone who takes the time to invest in this new comic universe will, I believe, be as excited as I am for the future. With art that continues to improve every issue and a handful of conflicted heroes fighting for what they believe is right, Arkhaven Comics has a great thing going with Alt-Hero. Issue #3 is less exciting, but no less satisfying.

Read the whole thing there. You know Arkhaven is already beginning to make an impact because the goalposts are moving and now the fake reviews are starting to appear. It should be amusing to see how they react to our next big action, which begins very soon.

Pretty Bad Stuff
By Amazon Customer on August 6, 2018
I’m not sure why this exists. It’s a bad imitation of super hero comics from the early 90s with a hefty dose of cooky right wing flavor. If you’d like to read some decent comics with a right leaning bent, I’d suggest Frank Miller or some of Alan Moore’s stuff. Their writing is not only masterful, but their politics have purpose – not just, “We miss big breasts in comics and are mad about ‘SJWs’”, which seems to be the main thrust of this series.

If you hate SJWs more than you like good comics, you’ll love this book.
By D.I .on July 29, 2018
If the fact that the name is a reference to the “alt-right” is a selling point for you then you will pick up the book and claim it is “refreshing” because the hero is a straight white male who is awesome. Fine whatever, there are totally NONE OF THOSE in comics. If you want to read something that makes you feel good about hating SJWs it’s a great book. If you want to read a good superhero comic book and don’t care about politics read literally anything else. Pick up any random trade of Superman, Batman, Spider-Man (all straight white men if it matters) and you get ten times better stories.

Alt★Hero #3: Reprisal

Alt★Hero #3: Reprisal is now on Amazon. Kindle and KU editions are available.

Michael Martel and the mysterious Immotus have freed Shiloh Summers from the UN’s Superhuman Protective Council, but now Security Director Kulkarni is determined to track them down. So when SPC agents take her mother and father into custody as official persons of interest, Shiloh and her new friends face a difficult choice: fight to free them or find another way to convince the SPC to let them go.

From the first reviews:

  • Every issue of this series is improving on the last.
  • Been following this latest insurgency in the culture war with mild interest. But they finally got me actually hooked. Art quality has jumped up a notch or three, and the story is starting to go somewhere.
  • Better than Civil War! Even at their best, back in the old days when Marvel and DC delved into politics and social commentary, they were not as gripping and thought-provoking as this!
  • Story is AAA! This one was freakin’ goooooood! Best yet of the Arkhaven comics releases. Already, after a total of four issues in this universe (3 Alt-Hero, one Avalon) we’re starting to see an interconnected web. The plot is racing ahead. These characters, these stories, this setting… It is going to be big. Huge. Epic.
  • This is writing one hardly sees in comics anymore, and it’s a slice of awesome. I thought issue 2 was good, but this in many ways is better. And once again, stellar artwork.
One note for backers: the credits page of the backer editions that first went out does NOT have the correct name of the next issue. It turned out that we were considerably further along on a different issue, so the name of Issue #4 is THE WAR IN PARIS.

The inaugural ARKSTREAM also contains a quick look at some of Arkhaven’s future plans. As for Issue #3, it looks as if we’re off to a good start. Three of the top four bestsellers in the category, and four of the top ten, are from Arkhaven. Thanks for your strong support!
