Trump le révolutionnaire

C’est fantastique! Not only has the Master Persuader jujitsued Hillary’s “deplorables” attack, but he’s turned it into a revolutionary campaign banner.

Donald Trump unveiled a new visual campaign theme in Miami on Friday – a mashup of the Broadway musical ‘Les Misérables’ and an epithet Hillary Clinton leveled at his supporters one week ago. He took the stage, introduced by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, as the ‘Les Mis’ anthem ‘Do You Hear the People Sing’ blasted through loudspeakers.

The video screen behind the podium flashed to an artistic rendering of ‘Les Deplorables,’ complete with USA and ‘Trump’ flags replacing the French colors, and a bald eagle soaring over the revolutionary scene.

‘Welcome to all of you deplorables!’ Trump boomed as thousands screamed ‘Trump! Trump! Trump!’ and ‘We love you!’

This is truly amazing. The US media wanted to free the Democrats of their Communist taint by switching the traditional colors used to denote the two major parties. Now the Republican candidate is openly running as a nationalist revolutionary.

And rick-rolling the treasonous Fourth Estate while he’s at it:

Whether you support Trump or not, you have to admit he’s pretty amazing at making the media dance along to his tune all while providing hours of complimentary media coverage.  But Trump’s latest stunt has really stirred the mainstream media into a frenzy with CNN’s Jake Tapper declaring “we all got Rick-Rolled” by Trump and Politico’s Glenn Thrush tweeting “this is a f–king disgrace.”

While the media was expecting Trump to make a statement about the “birther” issue and take questions from the press, what they actually got was 30 minutes of endorsements from decorated military generals and medal of honor recipients.  Finally, at the very end Trump made the following statement about Obama’s citizenship and left the event without taking questions:

Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther controversy. I finished it.  President Barack Obama was born in the United States.  Period. Now we all want to get back to making America strong again.

The mainstream media, who were all salivating over the opportunity to divert attention from the myriad of Hillary scandals by instead attacking Trump at a live “press conference,” were furious when they realized they had been played.

Trump, you magnificent bastard! If he handles America’s enemies as adroitly as he has handled his political enemies, he may turn out to be one of America’s greatest presidents.

Germans demand a solution

Albeit not a Final one, yet. The Governor of Bavaria and head of the CSU party has issued something of an ultimatum to Angela Merkel:

Ever since German Chancellor Angela Merkel opened up the country’s borders to refugees in early September of 2015, Horst Seehofer has been using every opportunity at his disposal to voice his disagreement. As head of the Christian Social Union (CSU) party, he is not someone who can easily be shrugged off. The CSU is the Bavarian sister party to Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU). The two parties, which collectively are known simply as the “union,” have a long tradition of campaigning together ahead of general elections and of divvying up cabinet posts should the center-right end up in government, which, for the last 12 years, it has. The CSU has no chapters in any other state while the CDU has no state chapter in Bavaria.

As the rift has widened, Seehofer has begun calling that long partnership into question, even raising the possibility that his party might campaign on its own ahead of next year’s parliamentary elections and put up a CSU chancellor candidate. To avoid that eventuality, he is demanding that Merkel take clear steps toward reversing her immigration policies and adopting a ceiling on the number of refugees Germany is willing to take in, a step Merkel has refused to take, citing potential inconsistencies with the German constitution. Last week, the CSU released a paper, called “Germany Must Remain Germany,” outlining steps it would like to see taken, including the abolishment of dual citizenship and a preference for migrants from the “Christian-Western culture.”

SPIEGEL: We have examined dozens of interviews that you have given in recent months. You talk a lot about refugee policy, but one thing is constantly left ambiguous, perhaps intentionally. What concrete steps does Angela Merkel have to take before you will say: “Okay, now we’ll back off?”

Seehofer: We want a solution to the immigration problem. To do that, we first need a ceiling. We don’t want unlimited immigration like we saw last year and that’s why we need binding measures as a guarantee. When announcements are made that we are combatting the root causes of flight, then they must be combined with concrete measures. When it is said that those who don’t have a right to asylum will be sent back, then we together with the federal government must enact a detailed, binding repatriation program. We want a clear system of rules that clearly and credibly reduces immigration to a reasonable level.

SPIEGEL: So you are sticking to your demand for a hard ceiling of 200,000 immigrants per year despite its potential inconsistencies with the guaranteed fundamental right to asylum?

Seehofer: Yes. We want a policy that safeguards this ceiling. We also, by the way, already changed the constitution to make this possible 23 years ago. With the support of all parties. Our constitution does not require us to take everybody who appears at our borders and demands asylum. And when someone comes from a safe country of origin, we can immediately repatriate them. The ceiling will work and it is consistent with the constitution.

SPIEGEL: The chancellor and several other CDU politicians have repeatedly insisted that they will not accept a ceiling. If the approval of such a ceiling is the prerequisite for an agreement, then there won’t be any agreement.

Seehofer: We’ll see. We will not back away from the 200,000 ceiling. It’s about our credibility, plain and simple.

SPIEGEL: Given that anything seems possible at this point, is a situation conceivable whereby the CDU enters the campaign with Merkel as its candidate for chancellor and the CSU says: We won’t support her?

Seehofer: We as a party will make personnel decisions in the first quarter of 2017. German history is full of serious mistakes pertaining to premature personnel decisions.

SPIEGEL: Last weekend, CSU leaders presented a paper containing the party’s refugee policy demands and it is full of odd sentences. Such as this one: “We are opposed to our cosmopolitan country being changed by immigration or refugee flows.” How cosmopolitan can a country be if it doesn’t want to be changed by immigration?

Seehofer: The paper’s title is: “Germany Must Remain Germany.” The chancellor has used almost the exact same formulation. When she says it, it’s considered liberal and future oriented. When we say it, it’s seen as reactionary and backwards.

SPIEGEL: Merkel never said that immigration cannot be allowed to change the country.

Seehofer: Look, Bavaria is a dynamic, cosmopolitan state. Those who don’t adapt fall behind. But we need ground rules. In every governmental speech I give before state parliament, I say: Bavaria will remain Bavaria. That’s not a contradiction.

SPIEGEL: Another question about your paper: In rejecting dual citizenship, the paper says that it is impossible to “serve two masters.” We always thought that it wasn’t citizens who served their state, but the other way around.

Seehofer: You aren’t asking why we are opposed to dual citizenship. Instead, you are quibbling over locution. The sentence is true and completely okay. I am allergic to this paternalism and censorship.

I thought it was particularly interesting that DER SPIEGEL was particularly interested in undermining the CSU demand for banning dual citizenship. Dual citizenship is one of the least defensible aspects of globalism, so it is something of a weak link that nationalists will do well to attack.

Notice that despite the headlines and the various outrages, the German establishment is considerably to the right of the the American establishment on immigration. Seehofer is openly saying things even Donald Trump wouldn’t dare, and he’s not only an elected politician, he’s one of the most powerful men in the country. And he’s a moderate compared to AfD.

Chickenhawks can do flips

As evidenced by (((Ben Shapiro)))

Five weeks later….

Jack Greer explains:

according to @benshapiro #NeverTrump means “never Primary Trump” but Ben likes the stability and presidential-ness of General Trump

Ah, so “never” for varying values of the term. Well, rats only swarm a winning ship. This is just an early sign of the coming Trumpslide. Let’s all welcome (((Ben))) aboard the #TrumpTrain!

Clustastrophe

There is clearly some brilliant stategery taking place in the Pentagon these days. These gentlemen are clearly read to fight WWIII against a Sino-Russian alliance:

Video footage appears to show US commandos fleeing a Syrian town under a barrage of abuse and insults hurled at them by fighters from the American-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) rebel group.

The video appears to be the first evidence of US special forces cooperating with Turkish troops in their battle against Islamic State….

The fighters scream anti-American chants as a column of pick-up trucks carrying US commandos drives away from them.

“Christians and Americans have no place among us,” shouts one man in the video. “They want to wage a crusader war to occupy Syria.”

Another man calls out: “The collaborators of America are dogs and pigs. They wage a crusader war against Syria and Islam.”

There is nothing quite like running away from the ragtag militia you’ve supplied with weapons to strike fear into your foes. We’ve got top men running this war. Top men.

Reacting to the rage

Life is too short to put up with angry women:

As women hit menopause, they tend to get observably unhappier and angrier. However, Western society no longer permits men to keep middle-aged female anger under control any more than it permits them to restrain young female promiscuity.

Two observations. First, it’s clearly not psychologically healthy behavior: I get heart palpitations and shake. Then I open my mouth without engaging my brain. I shout and use foul language I regret afterwards. It takes me a couple of hours before I can calm down.’

Second, it is milquetoast men who are enabling the self-destructive behavior. As mild-mannered as Jo is volatile, he’s found that the best thing to do is to walk away and let the tantrum burn itself out.

The reason for the behavior is that this is what the unrestrained female psyche looks like.

I used to believe that women civilized men. However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that it is more the other way around. Men civilize women, while women incentivize men to pursue civilization.

Western civilization is not compatible with the unrestrained female psyche or the unrestrained male psyche. It requires discipline and a mutually beneficial partnership between the sexes. African culture is the result of the unrestrained female psyche. Arab culture is the result of the unrestrained male psyche.

In any event, it is important for men to understand that repeated conflict-avoidance in the name of smoothing out the relationship is a strategy for failure. Conflict is a necessary aspect of discipline.

Mike Cernovich was right

As Mike Cernovich has observed, he mainstream media is no longer an effective vehicle to sell books:

When New York Times chief Mark Thompson published his latest book, ‘Enough Said: What’s Gone Wrong With the Language of Politics?’ this month, there must have been a part of him that worried about its negative title.

If he did have concerns, he wasn’t alone.

New figures obtained by Heat Street show that sales of this collection of his thoughts on the history of the public discourse have got off to a truly dreadful start.

In the UK, the book went on sale on September 1. Between then and September 10 it sold 482 copies. In the US, it went on sale on September 6. Over the next five days it sold a mere 59 copies.

By September 10 the book had also sold 10 copies in Ireland and just one copy in Australia, making a known international total of 552 books. The disappointing figure is despite Thompson being given every chance to plug the book. It has been reviewed widely, including by his own newspaper.

His publicity drive has also included an interview with the Sunday Times Magazine in London and an appearance at the Edinburgh book festival.

By contrast, Cuckservative: How “Conservatives” Betrayed America also has a negative title, but it sold 1,197 copies on day one. It still has not been reviewed or even mentioned by anyone in the mainstream media, despite having been a #1 bestseller in the Politics category.

Blogs 1, Mainstream 0.

As the media reality becomes increasingly detached from observable reality, the media becomes increasingly irrelevant.

The changing immigration narrative

And all of them are lies. Those who are conservatives or moderates, and still resist the inevitable rise of identity politics, would do well to consider who were the original architects of the arguments upon which your optimistic cases rest.

Your country has been invaded by 60 million aliens. Defend your land and repatriate them or be dispossessed. Like them or not, those are your options. Remember, if current trends prevail, one day “Americans” will deny that your grandchildren are white in the same way people now deny that I am an American Indian.

After all, they won’t look white.

Refueling the tank

This essay by Scott Adams struck a familiar chord:

How do I know Trump has mastered the skill of converting humiliation into energy? The signs are all there. For example…

Trump has entered one high-risk business after another, guaranteeing that he would experience a large number of setbacks, failures, and humiliations. People don’t run toward humiliation unless they know they can convert that negative energy to fuel. When you see someone succeed across multiple unrelated fields, that’s often a sign of a Master Persuader who feeds on both success and failure. You are watching Trump do exactly that, right in front of your eyes. He has converted every “gaffe” into news coverage. He eats bad news and converts it into fuel.

Many of you have watched me do the same thing. You’ve watched as I jumped fields from corporate America to cartooning. Then I became an author of business-related books. I opened two restaurants that didn’t work out. I tried lots of stuff that failed miserably. Now I’m talking about the presidential election. What do all of those things have in common?

I risked public humiliation in each case.

And in each case, lots of people told me “Keep your day job.” On a typical day, dozens of strangers insult my body, my personality, my brain, my integrity, and lots more. Like Trump, I consume it as fuel. And it is a learned skill.

You might have noticed that both Trump and I are quick to attack anyone who attacks us. Observers tell me I shouldn’t do that, because it makes me appear thin-skinned. Observers tell Trump the same thing. But observers are missing one important thing: We use the critics to refuel

If you were an alien from another planet, and you observed a lion killing a gazelle, you might think that lion was angry at its prey. You might think the lion was insulted that the gazelle was using its watering hole. What did the gazelle do to deserve that treatment? Is the lion being thin-skinned?

Trust me when I tell you that sometimes the lion is just eating.

Not long after the release of Liberal Fascism, Jonah Goldberg asked me how I handled the constant criticism to which we were both subjected. He tended to find it enervating, and wondered how I seemed to be energized by it. I explained that as a naturally lazy individual from a wealthy family, I needed a pretty good reason to put down a book and get off the couch, and the hatred of people I dislike served as a sufficiently motivating factor.

Disturbed put it best: “open up your hate and let it flow into me.”

I don’t think I’ve missed a single day blogging since I decided VP had to pass up Whatever in terms of traffic. It now has 5x more daily traffic, but I won’t be content until I also have more Twitter followers and more book sales than McRapey. The object is not to win, but to vanquish.

(This may amuse only me, but perhaps you recall Scalzi’s false claims of having 50,000 readers per day. Now, readers aren’t pageviews, so it’s not a precise comparison, but VP hasn’t had a single day as low as 50,000 pageviews in more than six weeks. 63,078 is the daily nadir in that time frame.)

Carnegie seeks embarrassment, Trump seeks failure, Adams seeks humiliation, and I seek hate, but it’s all the same thing: converting negative energy into fuel. When people ask me where I find the energy to do the various things I do every day, well, there are Saudi-sized oil fields of hatred out there.

Now, obviously I am far less successful than Trump or Adams. So, perhaps humiliation is a better goad than hatred. Or perhaps they convert negative energy more efficiently than I do. Or perhaps they’re just more fortunate. But regardless, it should be apparent that if you can teach yourself to feed on your critics rather than fear them, you will likely find the consequences to be beneficial. And, of course, to feed on them, you need to do something that inspires them to exist.

The pretty, monstrous face

It’s really rather remarkable how insistent the media is in trying to anoint Milo the face, the spokesman, and the apostle of the Alt-Right.

Members of the alt-right, unlike their old, frustrated European counterparts, are less focused on policy than on performance. Their MO usually involves pissing people off with hypermasculine taunts. They call establishment and even Tea Party Republicans “cuckservatives”—because they are cuckolded by the Left. They do most of their acting out online, often by organizing on 4chan or Reddit and then trolling targets on Twitter. The alt-right is a new enough phenomenon that in August, Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan—running against an alt-right candidate in a primary—mistakenly called it “alt-conservatism” on a radio show. “It’s a nasty, virulent strain of something,” he said. “I don’t even know what it is, other than that it isn’t us. It isn’t what we believe in.”

As Donald J. Trump has become the candidate of the alt-right, Breitbart News has become the movement’s voice. The two merged semiofficially in August, when Breitbart’s chief executive officer, Steve Bannon, quit his job to run Trump’s campaign. And Yiannopoulos, whose byline on the site is simply “Milo,” is Breitbart’s most radioactive star.

“Milo is the person who propelled the alt-right movement into the mainstream,” says Heidi Beirich, who directs the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups and describes the term “alt-right” as “a conscious rebranding by white nationalists that doesn’t automatically repel the mainstream.” Beirich says she’s not even sure if Yiannopoulos believes in the alt-right’s tenets or just found a juvenile way to mix internet culture and extreme ideology to get attention.

Especially because he KEEPS TELLING THEM he is not.

Despite being the alt-right’s mouthpiece, Yiannopoulos won’t say for certain if he’s one of them…. He turns to Allum Bokhari, a 25-year-old half-Pakistani Oxford graduate, who used to work for a Liberal Democratic member of Parliament and now writes for Yiannopoulos at Breitbart, and asks, “Am I a member of the alt-right?”

“No,” says Bokhari, who wears a white dress shirt, gray blazer, and gray trousers to work at a desk next to a garment rack in Yiannopoulos’s living room. “Because they wouldn’t have you. You like Israel a lot more. Some on the alt-right would describe you as a degenerate.”

Of course, there is a reason they want to create a leader of the Alt-Right. As with #GamerGate, they need to identify a leader in order to destroy him. And it doesn’t help their cause that so many well-known members of the Alt-Right refuse to talk to them. I get numerous requests from reporters and I ignore all of them. I am not the only one. Cernovich has a similar policy. So does Stefan.

I’m also a member of #GamerGate, after all. I know the media’s routine and I won’t play along with it. I can’t speak for the Alt-White branch, I’m happy to leave that to TRS and Richard Spencer, among others, but as far as the Alt-West goes, there are no leaders, there will be no leaders, and neither me nor anyone else speaks officially for what is neither a group nor a movement, but a philosophical identity.

To ask “who is the leader of the Alt-West” is like asking “who is the leader of the left-handed people” or “who is the leader of those whose favorite color is blue”? There is no answer.

And as for the true face of the Alt-Right, we all know the correct answer is: “Pepe, and Kek is his Apotheosis.”
