NFL Week 9

Discuss amongst yourselves.

23 Vikings
26 Chiefs

The playcalling on the last two Vikings’ drives was catastrophically stupid. Here you have the lead, the leading rusher in the NFL facing the number 30 run defense in the league that also happens to be exhausted, and the ball with six minutes left.

Do you:
a) run the ball down the throat of the defense and burn the clock?
b) get cute and try to fool the defense with screens and draw plays on 3-13?

They actually chose (b) twice in a row. I knew we were in trouble from the first 1-and-10 call when Cousins didn’t just hand it off to Cook off-tackle. This is why Zimmer will never be in Belichick’s class. He doesn’t have the confidence to rely upon his team’s strengths and order his offensive coordinator to do the obvious.

Those who rely upon surprise rather than execution lack confidence.

Grabblerism is not capitalism

The Saker interviews economist Michael Hudson, whose answers underline the increasingly obvious fact that as bad as communism is for a nation, grabblerism is even worse for it:

The Saker: The US propaganda often claims that the three Baltic states are a true success, just like Poland is also supposed to be. Does this notion have a factual basis? Initially it did appear that these states were experiencing growth, but was that not mostly/entirely due to EU/IMF/US subsidies? Looking specifically at the three Baltic states, and especially Latvia, these were the “showcase” Soviet republics, with a high standard of living (at least compared to the other Soviet republics) and a lot of high-tech industries (including defense contracts). Could you please outline for us what truly happened to these economies following independence? How did they “reform” their economies going from an ex-Soviet one to the modern “liberal” one?

Michael Hudson: This is a trick question, because it all depends on what you mean by “success.”

The post-Soviet neoliberalism has been a great success for kleptocrats at the top. They gave themselves the public domain, from key industries to prime real estate. But the Balts largely let their Soviet industries collapse, making no effort to salvage or reorganize them.

Much of the problem, of course, was that all the linkages to Soviet-era industry were torn apart as the Soviet Union was disbanded. With their supplier and final markets closed down from Russia to Central Asia, the Baltic economies had to start afresh – with a very right-wing tax policy and no government help whatsoever, as the government itself had become privatized in the hands of former officials and grabitizers.

Lithuania was marginally better in having some industrial policy. EU and NATO accession in 2004, along with easy credit, kicked off property bubbles in the Baltics, largely inflated by Swedish banks that made a bonanza off these countries that lacked their own banks or public credit creation. The resulting 2008 crashes were the largest in the world as a percent of GDP, with Latvia suffering the world’s biggest contraction.

The neoliberal western advisors who took control of these economies – as if this was the only alternative to Soviet bureaucracy – imposed crushing austerity programs to restore macroeconomic “stability” meaning security of their land and infrastructure grabs. This was applauded by Europe’s bankers, who thought the Balts had discovered a workable recipe allowing austerity governments to retain power in a seeming democracy. These policies would have collapsed governments anywhere else, but the ability to emigrate, plus ethnic divisions against Russian speakers, allowed these governments to survive.

It’s a historically specific situation, but Europe’s bankers promote it as a generalized model. George Soros’s INET and his associated front institutions have been leaders in subsidizing this financialization-cum-grabitization. The result has been a massive exodus of prime working age people from Lithuania and Latvia. (Estonians simply commute to Finland.) Meanwhile, their economies are buoyed by foreign bank lending, which sends profits back to home countries and can be reversed at any time.

Politically, the neoliberal revolution also has been a success for U.S. Cold Warriors, who sent over native Balts from Georgetown and other universities to impose “free market” doctrine – that is, a market “free” of domestic regulation against theft of the public domain, against monopolies, against land taxes and other income taxes. The Baltic states, like most of the rest of the former Soviet Union, became the Wild East.

What was left to the Baltic countries was land and real estate. Their forests are being cut down to sell wood abroad. I describe all this in my book Killing the Host.

The Saker: After independence, the Baltic states had tried to cut as many ties with Russia as possible. This included building (rather silly looking) fences, to forcing the Russians to develop their ports on the Baltic, to shutting down large (or selling to foreign interests which then shut them down) and profitable factories (including a large nuclear plant I believe), etc. What has been the impact of this policy of “economic de-Sovietization” on the local economies?

Michael Hudson: Dissolution of the Soviet Union meant that Baltic countries lost their traditional markets, and had to shift their focus to Western Europe and, to some extent, Asia…. The Baltic states, especially Latvia, have lost about 30 percent of their population since the 1990s, especially those of working age. In Latvia, about 10 percent of the loss were Russians who exited shortly after independence. The other 20 percent have subsequently emigrated.

Fake American, fake patriot

A Marine who knew LTC Vindman exposes him as an anti-American partisan from 2012:

Vindman, who was a Major at the time, was sitting in one of the classrooms talking to the US & Russian Soldiers, as well as the young Officers & GS Employees about America, Russia, & Obama. He was apologetic of American culture, laughed about Americans not being educated or worldly, & really talked up Obama & globalism to the point of uncomfortable. He would speak w/the Russian Soldiers & laugh as if at the expense of the US personnel. It was so uncomfortable & unprofessional, one of the GS employees came & told me everything above. I walked over & sat w/in earshot of Vindman, & sure enough, all was confirmed.

One comment truly struck me as odd, & it was w/respect to American’s falsely thinking they’re exceptional, when he said, “He [Obama] is working on that now.” And he said it w/a snide ‘I know a secret’ look on his face. I honestly don’t know what it meant, it just sounded like an odd thing to say. Regardless, after hearing him bash America a few times in front of subordinates, Russians, & GS Employees, as well as, hearing an earful about globalization, Obama’s plan, etc…I’d had enough. I tapped him on the shoulder & asked him to step outside. At that point I verbally reprimanded him for his actions, & I’ll leave it at that, so as not to be unprofessional myself.

The bottom-line is LTC Vindman was a partisan Democrat at least as far back as 2012. So much so, junior officers & soldiers felt uncomfortable around him.

Traitor then, traitor now. Every single time.

You are right to be furious

Milo reviews Joker:

This is a film about a young man who is driven by the rampant, illegitimate cruelty around him to do appalling things. The message, the moral of the story, is that Joker is what is going to happen to us soon, unless these dissociated and disaffected young males find something better to believe in. This is our future, unless society starts treating them—treating us—with the respect and dignity we deserve.

In every outdoor shot, Arthur Fleck is surrounded by the signs of decadent late capitalism. This is a failed nostalgia because although the film is set some forty years ago, it could just as well be playing out today. Pornography and drugs flood the streets, and there are signs everywhere telling Fleck—and the viewer—to grin and bear it, to “put on a happy face.” We’ve been told that for some time now, haven’t we? We’ve been told to turn a blind eye to the excesses of modern feminism, because, well, ladies had it pretty rough back in the day guys, didn’t they? We’ve been told to go easy on race-baiting conspiracy theorists because, you know, you’re white and so you’ve inherited all that privilege, my guy! After all, aren’t we the aggressors—the historical oppressors of just about everyone else?

This nonsense, this desperate plea for pity in the face of historical reality, is wearing pretty fucking thin in 2019. While we are being bamboozled, society has become hostile to its own engines of progress and creation, alienating and spurning Christians, men, heterosexuals and, yes, white people. The after-effects of this terrible neglect are setting in, and the young men I know are searching for a means to sublimate their rage and pain. And they want someone—anyone—to say: You are right to be furious.

The filmmakers are mocking the rightful wrath that is to come because they fear it. But the day of Deus Vult is coming and there is no power on Earth that can stop it. Remember, every knee SHALL bow.

Willingly or unwillingly, even the haters and enemies of God will bend the knee before Jesus Christ.

I agree with Milo when he says the West is primed for a religious revival. The bankruptcy of the Enlightenment, the dead end of hedonistic degeneracy, the vacuousness of science, and the unadulterated wickedness of the satanists is becoming abundantly clear to everyone with eyes.

You are right to hate the wicked. And you are right to be furious.

Respect should be a given

If you find the comments here to be sub-standard, you really need to read the YouTube comments to put them in perspective:

Owen banned me for saying something was “pretty funny” when I was laughing my ass off in a public library, after being a fan for a year and sharing essentially my life story with him and desperately asking him to buy me a bus ticket from Colorado to Texas. He isn’t a leader, he’s an entertainer, and I’m a free-thinking millennial with a different vernacular, I don’t fit in, and he doesn’t want that kind of responsibility. He used to ban people for saying lol because it looks like a person drowning so I shouldn’t have taken it too personally, but I did. I’m renouncing my American citizenship anyway, this country and its people have done nothing but oppress me and mock me and act like I’m lucky to even be a free man when that’s to be expected. I’m not a criminal. No one needs me. I get it. I just want to be treated like a respectable dishwasher and get off the streets. There’s no reason that I should have such a hard time demanding the smallest amount of respect. Respect shouldn’t have to be earned, it’s called etiquette, and lack of it should certainly lead to loss of respect. Respecting a fellow American, or Bear, or former Bear in this case should be a given, but it isn’t. That’s why I was banned.

To which I responded:

That is so sad and wrong! I will call Owen at once and DEMAND that you be unbanned from his channel at once. I will also ask him to build you a nice little house on his property with his own hands, constructed with wood from trees he has personally cut down, complete with your own goat to provide milk for your morning tea. No, don’t thank me, it’s really the least you deserve! I am so sorry that you had to experience such horror. Thank you for your service.

Jonah Goldberg, advice columnist

Fortunately, the God-Emperor is very unlikely to take the suggestion of a former Republican Smart Boy turned professional cuckservative:

In l’affaire Ukraine, the president is guilty as charged. And the best strategy for him to avoid impeachment by the House and perhaps even removal by the Senate is to admit it, apologize, and let voters make their own judgment. It’s also the best way to fend off a disaster for Senate Republicans.

The president is accused — politically, not criminally — of trying to force the Ukrainian president to tar former vice president Joe Biden with an investigation into his alleged “corruption” in exchange for the release of military aid and a meeting in the Oval Office. I believe a plain reading of the rough transcript of a phone call between Trump and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky supports the charge. So does testimony from the top American diplomat in Ukraine, William Taylor, as well as several other Trump appointees and aides, including Tuesday’s testimony from Alexander Vindman, a National Security Council staffer who listened to the phone call. There’s still due diligence to be done, but it seems implausible they’re all lying.

Common sense also works against the president. If Trump were sincerely concerned about Ukrainian corruption, why has he never expressed similar concerns about corruption anywhere else? And, why, if the issue is Ukrainian corruption generally, did the Trump administration focus on the alleged corruption of a single Ukrainian firm, Burisma, where Biden’s son sat on the board?

Assume guilt. Demand apology. Increase pressure. Sounds… familiar. It’s really remarkable to see how much cucks pattern their behavior these days on SJWs. It’s really impressive to see how desperate the God-Emperor’s enemies have become of late.

Mailvox: the moronic angle

It seems even long-time commenters here never learn to stop clinging to their false assumptions when I call them into question:

Vox, the Chinese are communist butchers. They are no more moral than we are. They are just as much sadistic murderers as the worst of the paper Americans or PP demons. They have slaughtered at least as many or more of their own people as America has killed unborn children. I don’t know what your UHIQ angle is here, but I’d sure love to know. If you don’t have an angle here, you are dead fucking wrong about the Chinese.

Look,  everyone needs to simply get over their childhood upbringings and drop their kneejerk moronics. I know far more about Chinese history and culture than most of the readers here, as those who live there and speak the language can testify, even though my focus as an East Asian Studies major was on Japan. And my exposure to YouTube has not heightened my tolerance for the clueless ignorati that knows absolutely nothing about a subject in question attempting to ‘correct” me.

The China today is not the China of 221 BC or 1973 AD. The Chinese leadership today has less in common with Mao than Obama did with Eisenhower. It is simply risible how self-appointed foreign policy experts who don’t even have passports go from blathering about how Europe is lost to the way China is doomed, blithely serene in their confidence that the USA will always be the greatest, wealthiest, most free country forever and ever, world without end.

Xi is not Deng is not Mao. It is readily apparent to even the most casual observer that China and the USA are on different moral trajectories. One society is trying to encourage people to get married, take pride in their nation, and stop spitting in public, the other is trying to encourage drag queen reading hour, soldiers in heels, and surgical sexual mutilation. One society is punishing those who have a servile attitude to foreign countries, the other has made it a criminal offense to criticize or refuse to buy from a certain foreign country. One society is proudly nationalist, the other silences, disemploys, and attacks its nationalists.

I further note that George Soros considers Xi Jinping the most dangerous enemy to his satanic globalist ideology. Not the Pope, not Orban, not Trump, not even Putin, but Xi.

One society is observably assembling the building blocks for sustainable success, the other is actively tearing apart its foundations. And it doesn’t require UHQ to determine, on that basis, which society is currently favored by the probabilities. It’s long past time to get over the 1970s and Boomer fears about “the ChiComs and Russkies”.

Welcome to Finance World Hell

The media is finally suffering the inevitable effects of financial predation and is now crying about the very “economic efficiencies” they used to celebrate in the industrial sector:

Their employees call them “soulless” and “vultures” — as does presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. Their focus on cost cutting has sparked newsroom rebellions. And they are snapping up more and more of the media landscape.

These days, whenever there is an uprising in the media business, the chances are that a private equity firm is involved. The latest clash happened this week at the sports website Deadspin, where the interim editor in chief said he was fired for refusing to limit the site’s focus to sports coverage. Afterward, at least eight journalists resigned in protest, including more than half of the site’s writers.

Sanders, the independent Vermont senator seeking the Democratic nomination for president, chimed in late Thursday with a tweet supporting Deadspin workers and lambasting Jim Spanfeller, chief executive officer of Deadspin parent G/O Media.

G/O Media is a collection of websites owned by the private equity firm Great Hill Partners. Two months earlier, Deadspin’s former editor in chief also quit, claiming that Great Hill Partners wanted to cash out quickly rather than invest in the long-term growth of the site.

It’s never quite as fun when it’s your own ox getting gored, is it? Learn to code….

The real British civil war

It’s not Brexit, it’s the Sussex Rebellion against the Crown:

Prince Harry and his renegade wife, Meghan, threw a tantrum and reportedly threatened to quit the Royal Family during a bitter confrontation with the Queen, insiders said. But if the pair were hoping the 93-year-old monarch would beg them to stay, they were flat-out wrong, RadarOnline.com has learned.

“Her Majesty called their bluff. She told them that she was delighted with their decision and couldn’t wait for them to leave,” a high-level palace courtier told Radar.

But that wasn’t the Queen’s only payback for the “divisive” couple, who committed the cardinal sin of dissing royal life in public.

The source claims she “stripped them of their royal titles, their newly renovated home, Frogmore Cottage — and about $15 million in financial support.

Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not. But it would be massively hilarious if it turned out to be true. Gentlemen, never, ever, marry a malignant narcissist. Prince Harry could have, and should have, married a nice English Rose and lived a happy, prosperous life of service to the English nation. Instead, he went outside his nation and against his family, and now he is only beginning to pay the price.

This is the family that banished a king, after all. They wouldn’t hesitate to banish a mere duke who has repeatedly embarrassed them.
