Arktoons Update
There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes at Arktoons over the past year, and we’re excited to share some of the progress.
Platform Improvements
We’ve been upgrading the Arktoons backend to give readers and publishers a better experience. We’ve streamlined how the site operates, and the site now loads faster. Likes and comments are fully operational, and we’re close to introducing custom stickers and emojis. This is just the beginning. You’ll see new features and improvements for readers and publishers rolling out every few weeks over the coming months.
AI-Powered Production
Our production workflow has also been transformed by AI. Tasks that once took hours can now be completed in a few moments, allowing us to restore far more classic stories than ever before. In the past, volunteers needed subscriptions to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to contribute. Today, there are several new ways to help.
We’re looking for people who can:
- Use AI image-generation tools such as ChatGPT, Grok, or similar services.
- Set up and run a local AI image-generation system.
- Use Inkscape and/or Krita (both completely free and open source).
Restoring Forgotten Stories
AI has opened up restoration techniques that simply weren’t practical before. Damage that once required painstaking manual editing can now be repaired quickly, allowing volunteers with little or no technical experience to help preserve classic stories and bring these classic stories to life in a way that hasn’t been seen for decades!
Colouring Comics
We’re also experimenting with AI-assisted colouring – if you want to be at the cutting edge of AI image editing with real-world applications, then this is where you need to be!
