Panel members agreed that, depending on preference and availability, people could pursue the “mix-and-match” strategy. Preliminary results from a recent study found that every combination of mixing and matching COVID-19 booster shots increased immune response without safety concerns. The mix-and-match method appeared to give the biggest boost to J&J recipients who get their second shot from Moderna or Pfizer, though the study hasn’t yet been peer reviewed.
