1. Manias, Panics and Crashes: A History of Financial Crises by Charles Kindleberger

2. Ghosts of Columbia by L.E. Modesitt, Jr.

3. The Dosadi Experiment by Frank Herbert

Japan’s Lost Decade: 7/10. Series of econ papers presented at 2002 symposium at the University of Michigan. Useful, especially in chronicling the failure of Keynesian policies which are now being utilized in the USA, but an appendix summarizing the relevant macroeconomic data would have been much appreciated.

The Dragon in the Sea: 6/10. It’s interesting to see flashes of Dune in Herbert’s other work. Well-written but not very suspenseful or interesting.

The Warded Man: 8/10. Excellent debut novel by Peter Brett and an unusual fantasy world.
