Mailvox: You can always trust a liberal

To respond with something that isn’t merely stupid, but demonstrates an inability to comprehend what he just read. SM serves up a real humdinger of an example:

what are you talking about blaming Obama for this massive mess we are in? dont you recall the village idiot who has lead this nation for nearly the last decade? that george bush fucker. why do conservatives consistently do two things in common: seemingly conveniently always forgeting history (remember we have been spending billions and billions and billions on endless wars in iraq and Afghanistan (and considering that the war in Iraq was clearly unnecessary, i mean there never were ‘weapons of mass destruction’ that was a LIE fabricated by your conservative leaders because conservatives don’t know what the fuck to do leading people unless its to go to war) second: going back to the last election, Bush/Kerry, your boy Bush constantly called Kerry a ‘tax and spend liberal’ well my words back are ‘what the fuck are you conservatives but a bunch of DEBT AND SPEND CONSERVATIVES, get it? its still all about spending. and we have spent a bundle thanks to George.

My boy Bush? I am not, as I have repeatedly stated for eight years now, a conservative. The fact that SM managed to miss this in a column advocating the legalization of drugs is truly impressive. I was also an early opponent of the twin occupations, nor have I ever blamed the financial crisis on Obama.

Obama is falling backward, yes. however the only reason he is falling backward is thanks to George Bush. who deregulated everything? who has been our captain. remember we have been in recession at least since January of 2008 (thats more than a year ago) and the real shit started hitting the fan in september. ALL UNDER GEORGE BUSH’S REIGN. HOW DO YOU FUCKING FORGET THAT SO EASILY? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? Obama is a fall guy for all of this and if you really look at what has happened there is nothing any one person can do. There is no right answer, we are outside the petrie dish now. why do conservatives always champion god and the right to life while killing people (mostly children and women in foreign lands?) and yet call yourself ‘right to life’ a real right to life conservative would do anything to stop the war, cause thats where all the killing takes place. and why do all you conservatives never balk at endless military spending but then get up in arms (no pun intended) when anyone tries to spend some of our own tax revenue not on the annihilation of other peoples but on helping our own peoples?

George Bush deregulated nothing. He didn’t have the ability to do so. SM doesn’t know that Congress repealed Glass-Steagell in 1999, when Clinton was president; banking deregulation was supported by Democrats and Republicans alike. SM clearly doesn’t realize that the New York banking industry leans more Democrat than it does Republican.

i am going to cite you now: ‘Considering the incredible amount of economic destruction that has occurred in only six weeks of Democratic rule’ okay here you go again forgetting short term history (what did you do smoke too many ‘fattie’s’ before you wrote your article) remember who was the leader that got us into this then retired to Crawford, TX just as it was all crumbling

Obama isn’t responsible for George Bush’s actions. He is responsible for his own actions, which have been incredibly stupid. Since SM believes that George Bush’s DEBT AND SPEND approach was bad, why doesn’t he believe that Barack Obama’s decision to engage in an even bigger DEBT AND SPEND program is worse? The stock market isn’t getting killed because of Bush’s actions any longer, it’s reacting to Obama’s embrace of a ruinous Keynesian approach that will extend and deepen the depression.

‘the thought of four more years of the ongoing presidential debacle’ whoa hold on. presidential debacle? WTF????? who got us into this? i have been watching this whole country loose itself and ruin itself under Bush for the last 8 years, he is the ‘debacle’ if there ever was one. what was his approval 22%? c’mon bro put the blame where it belongs

Bush was a disaster. Obama is already a debacle; it’s interesting to note that at the same stage in his presidency, Bush had higher approval ratings than Obama does now despite the 2000 election controversy. As for putting the blame where it belongs, I am putting it squarely on the monetary authorities, not the guys who do little more than sign the bills passed by the fiscal authorities.

its like this: the captain of the ship steered us onto the rocks and then took the last life boat to safety, leaving someone else to figure out how to stop the ship from sinking, key to remember: the ship was already sinking before the new captain even got on deck. and no matter how you slice it; no good leadership or bad leadership now is going to make a difference. the irreversible damage has already been done. and if there is to be any moving forward in this country then conservatives and all those who voted for Bush need to accept their own responsibility for voting for him and placing us in this grave situation. Bush gave himself more presidential rights/powers than anyone in history, yet you still want to play the blame game like it was someone else to blame. check out the mirror and you will see just who is at fault. Not Barak. he just showed up to the party, but the cops broke it up 15 minutes before he stepped in the door.

I have the feeling that the Obamatons are going to be clinging desperately to the “Blame Bush” notion for the next four years. There’s no shortage of blame to pass around. Bush was terrible. Obama has actually managed to start off worse. We’ll have to wait and see if he improves, or if he gets worse from here on out.

on a different note: i have been saying for years that the only way to win the war on drugs is to surrender, glad you guys have finally figured it out. Amazing how conservatives and libertarians always think of freedom first, but then don’t let you own your own body and make your own decisions.

I’d be very interested to know what libertarian SM has ever heard either try to claim his body or try to make decisions for him. Although, based on this email, one could make a fairly airtight case for SM’s cognitive inability to be permitted outside without a helmet and leash.
