The false front of the male feminist

Joss Whedon is merely the latest “male feminist” to be outed as a sexual predator:

There were times in our relationship that I was uncomfortable with the attention Joss paid other women. He always had a lot of female friends, but he told me it was because his mother raised him as a feminist, so he just liked women better. He said he admired and respected females, he didn’t lust after them. I believed him and trusted him. On the set of “Buffy,” Joss decided to have his first secret affair.
Fifteen years later, when he was done with our marriage and finally ready to tell the truth, he wrote me, “When I was running ‘Buffy,’ I was surrounded by beautiful, needy, aggressive young women. It felt like I had a disease, like something from a Greek myth. Suddenly I am a powerful producer and the world is laid out at my feet and I can’t touch it.” But he did touch it. He said he understood, “I would have to lie — or conceal some part of the truth — for the rest of my life,” but he did it anyway, hoping that first affair, “would be ENOUGH, that THEN we could move on and outlast it.”
Joss admitted that for the next decade and a half, he hid multiple affairs and a number of inappropriate emotional ones that he had with his actresses, co-workers, fans and friends, while he stayed married to me….
Despite understanding, on some level, that what he was doing was wrong, he never conceded the hypocrisy of being out in the world preaching feminist ideals, while at the same time, taking away my right to make choices for my life and my body based on the truth. He deceived me for 15 years, so he could have everything he wanted. I believed, everyone believed, that he was one of the good guys, committed to fighting for women’s rights, committed to our marriage, and to the women he worked with. But I now see how he used his relationship with me as a shield, both during and after our marriage, so no one would question his relationships with other women or scrutinize his writing as anything other than feminist.

Male feminists are false fronts. They tend to be physically unattractive men who pose as feminists in order to obtain access to women by convincing them to let their guard down through publicly professing feminist ideology. They are easily obsessed by women and are highly prone to stalking them; John Scalzi’s account of being tempted to stalk Mary Robinette Kowal at a convention is downright creepy, although not nearly as creepy as the idea of Jim Hines being a rape counselor.

Back in 2006, at Readercon(!) I was wandering around the dealer’s room when I saw John Joseph Adams talking to a woman I didn’t know. I knew JJA very casually, so I went up to say hello. The woman he was speaking to was the art director of Shimmer Magazine and her name was Mary Robinette Kowal. JJA introduced the two of us, and Mary and I started chatting and within about five minutes I was aware that I was really intensely attracted to her, in a way that actually kind of spooked me and which I was sure was immediately and clearly obvious, and possibly immediately and obviously creepy.
So here’s what I did. After a couple more minutes, I excused myself and went away, because I was working on the theory that if I was worried that I was coming across as creepy, I was in fact being creepy, and I didn’t want to do that both as a matter of personal inclination and also because this woman I had just met did noting to deserve me creeping all over her. Later, I saw her talking with a bunch of people I didn’t know, I didn’t go up and chat with her because I knew that the only reason I wanted to talk to that group of people is so that I could be near her, and that was a little creepy.
When some time after that she was with a group of people I did know and enjoyed talking to, I joined that group, made sure I didn’t focus all my attention on her and got to know her a little better by listening to her talk to others in the group and to the group in general, and talked to her like I talked to everyone else in the group. I didn’t hover near her. I definitely didn’t go out of my way to touch her. I made no great attempt to monopolize her time. When I did chat with her later one on one, I was mindful of how much of her time I was spending, and was paying attention to how she reacted to me to make sure I wasn’t overstaying my welcome. And so on.

If that doesn’t strike you as creepy on its face, remember, the man was married at the time. There is definitely something deeply, insidiously wrong with any self-styled male feminist. Never forget that when they repeat their mantras of “don’t be evil” and “don’t inappropriately touch women”, they are talking to themselves.

So, Joss Whedon used feminism to bang an endless succession of chicks and make some pretty non-feminist movies without anyone noticing. To be honest, my respect for the man has skyrocketed.

Google unvanishes stats prof

Zerohedge helped Salil Mehta get his email, blog, and other accounts back after they were vanished by Google.

Yesterday we reported that in a shocking, and unexplained move, statistics professor Salil Mehta, adjunct professor at Columbia and Georgetown who teaches probability and data science and whose work has appeared on this website on numerous prior occasions, had been banned by Google on Friday, with his email, blog and other Google-linked accounts wiped clean and no longer accessible.
As we discussed yesterday, it was not clear what Salil did to provoke Google:
On Friday afternoon East Coast Time by surprise, I was completely shut down in all my Google accounts (all of my gmail accounts, blog, all of my university pages that were on google sites, etc.) for no reason and no warning.  A number of us were stunned and unsure, but clearly we know at this point it wasn’t an accident.
As Salil explained, he had never engaged in political discourse, and his content was purely math/statistics-focused: “My background is clean, and without a political or social agenda.  I am not promoting any specific viewpoint.  I teach probability math and that’s it.  Have worked with both the Obama administration and advised on polling statistics for the Trump campaign, am an adjunct professor at three top universities, an editor of the peer-reviewed journal of the American Statistical Association, and wrote a best-selling statistics book (all the proceeds of which I gave to charity!)”
And yet, Salil’s attempts to get to the bottom of his purge were fruitless:
I have followed their common “appeal” form but no response for three days.  Also connected with one of the VPs over the weekend and it still takes time until receiving this today!  Just more of a reflection of how cold a company can treat someone very poorly: without any information, and lack of ability to move forward in their life (can I get real reasons if any, can I get advance notice, can I get my contact list back from gmail, and why are university properties unrelated to my blog shut down?)
We are going to be looking back on this time in Google’s history and those of other social media and know that they have done some very immoral and confusing things, and it has hurt their public reputation with decent people who wanted to grow into the next future with them.
Until yesterday, Google’s only response was a generic form statement it issues to every account that is “in violation of its Terms of Service.” That changed yesterday, because after our article detailing Salil’s plight went viral, and was read 300,000 times, Google responded and as of this morning, has restored all of Salil Metha’s accounts.

That’s great and all, but the irony of someone being unvanished because he did NOT engage in any Constitutionally-protected political free speech is sizable indeed. Most people are not going to have the online might of Zerohedge behind them, or happen to be a politically unblemished minority professor who worked with the Obama administration, which means that most of us are beholden to the goodwill and commitment to Internet neutrality of the various social media giants.
Since these corporations are heavily converged, since SJWs always double down, and since the executives who are not themselves SJWs have repeatedly shown themselves to be too weak to stand up to much direct pressure from their internal SJWs, it is imperative that everyone who is to the right of Salil Metha have a backup plan already in place and already implemented starting right now. That means everything from email addresses, websites, and payment processors to ISPs and domain registry alternatives.
If you want to be accessible by our rapid response program and you are not VFM, you have four alternatives.

  1. Follow me on Twitter. This is the least preferable option since I anticipate a massive, multiplatform strike will be the next step after the surgical deplatformings and demonetizations prove ineffective. I am reliably informed that SJWs inside Twitter, Google, Facebook, and Paypal are already putting this plan together and are now working on figuring out how to sell it to the decision-makers at their respective corporations. Saner heads may prevail, in fact, they probably will prevail at Google and Paypal, since the executives there understand that further fracturing the Internet is not good for their future growth, but there are no guarantees, and as we know from our experience with Amazon, even a rogue strike or two by employees acting without permission or approval cannot be ruled out.
  2. Follow me on Gab. This is safe, but not necessarily timely, particularly if you’re not already actively using Gab.
  3. Sign up for the Book Club. You’ll get 1-3 book announcements per month. This is the least disruptive option that ensures you are rapidly contacted.

SF-SJW unleashed

Statues coming down, name changes, Bannon out, NK Jemison getting awards, alt-right in a meltdown(see ramzpaul), Trump on the ropes, white birth rates plummeting, immigration being ramped up. How does it feel? Knowing you guys have lost completely

Oh, but we haven’t lost at all! Far from it. This guy is a bit more perspicacious than old Jeff.

This year’s awards were less directly impacted by those meddlesome puppies, but I feel like we’re still suffering through an indirect backlash and overcorrection…. The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin takes the rocket for Best Novel, making Jemisin just the third author to have back-to-back wins in this category (joining the ranks of Orson Scott Card and Lois McMaster Bujold). She’s a good author, but damn, these books are not for me. Both were at the bottom of my ballot and while I can see why her novel won last year, this one is a little more baffling.

(whistles innocently) Now, lest you doubt the observation that SF-SJWs can create nothing new, and are little more than scabrous, over-medicated dung-feeders crawling about the skeletons of their predecessors attempting to scavenge off their leavings, consider two-time successive Best Novel winner N.K. Jemisin’s next project, from an interview with Tor.

So if you’re using Cthulhu, are you an H.P. Lovecraft fan?

Oh, hell no. This is deliberately a chance for me to kind of mess with the Lovecraft legacy. He was a notorious racist and horrible human being. So this is a chance for me to have the “chattering” hordes—that’s what he called the horrifying brown people of New York that terrified him. This is a chance for me to basically have them kick the ass of his creation. So I’m looking forward to having some fun with that.
It sounds as if Jemisin’s novel will join an ongoing conversation re-examining Lovecraft’s works in the context of their creator, a conversation that currently includes Victor LaValle’s The Ballad of Black Tom, Matt Ruff’s Lovecraft Country, Ruthanna Emrys’ Winter Tide (as well as the Lovecraft Reread), and other recent works engaging with and challenging Lovecraft’s mythos.

Sounds Hugo award-winning to me!

Economic war

The culture war in the USA goes economic:

A white nationalist was fired from his job after Twitter users began naming and shaming alt-right supporters involved in yesterday’s deadly Charlottesville rally. The rally – which was described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as ‘the largest hate-gathering of its kind in decades in the United States’ – attracted thousands from neo-Nazi groups, the Ku Klux Klan and other far-right organizations.
It also culminated in a horrifying alleged attack on a group of antifascist counter-protesters as alleged white supremacist James Alex Fields Jr allegedly drove into a crowd, killing one person and injuring 19 more.
As the reverberations of that deadly assault continued to be felt on Sunday, Twitter user Yes, You’re Racist began naming and shaming those who were photographed waving torches and allying themselves with violent far-right extremists.

Tit-for-tat is now in order. Do you have an employee who supports Black Lives Matter on Twitter? Fire them. Do you have any employees who are SJWs? Fire them. Anyone who puts rainbows on Facebook? Fire them.
If James Damore and Cole White can be fired for their beliefs, so can everyone else. Once a tactic has been legitimized by the Left, don’t hesitate to use it. The Left has made it very clear that peaceful coexistence is no longer possible, so stop trying to coexist with them.
This development isn’t something to fear. Why are they doing this now? Because they are terrified of the gathering momentum and they are desperate to somehow stop it.
Meanwhile, (((Ben Shapiro))) is still lying about the Alt-Right. It is correct to say that it includes white nationalists, but it is blatantly false to claim that it is entirely white nationalists, or that it is a white supremacist philosophy.
The fact that our enemies feel the need to lie about us and misrepresent our views is one of the strongest indicators that our views are convincing and catching on with more and more former conservatives and libertarians and liberals alike.
Meanwhile, GoDaddy signs up for Google’s economic war on everyone to the right of SJW.

SJWs are the Tolkienian devil

They create nothing. Like Melkor, all they can do is corrupt, pervert, and destroy. SF/F Grandmaster John C. Wright waxes wroth in response to the SJW version of The Shadow:

Dynamite Comics just put out a new version of The Shadow. The Shadow is and has been my most deeply beloved character of my imaginative life.
They turned him into an SJW who lectures villains on their white privilege.
I am not making this up.
While in the middle of gunning down two Virginia Tech style mass murderers, The SJW Shadow tells them that they were born atop a pedistal of privilege, and their loss of power when the minorities lives improve erodes their “empire”, which is what drives them to their crimes.
Except that the shooter at Virginia Tech was Korean. Columbine guys were white, but were leftwing atheists, not angry white men. The Left yearns so badly to blame white men for mass murders, that they usually report the shooter is a Tea Party member. And it usually turns out to be a jihadist, or a Bernie supporter. But in a comic, the Leftist can reverse the polarity of reality, and have the most proto-Objectivist hardcore vigilante in comicbookdom turn into a morally ambiguous Antifas lefteroon.
The comic also pauses to have the viewpoint character, a Hispanic woman, say that there are no heroes in life, merely violent men. Heroes are merely gangsters in white hats.
Interesting message to put in a story about the most iconic vigilante of all time, the human version of an archangel of merciless wrath-of-heavenly vengeance.
And a thinly disguised version of President Trump appears on the telly in the background, as evidence of the sickness of the world for daring to regard good as better than evil.

I can guarantee this is not happening with Alt-Hero. We will create. We will make anew. There will be heroes and there will be villains.

It’s too late, liberals

White liberals are beginning to realize that Diversity doesn’t care about their ideology, but fully intends to devour them too:

I’m a white man, so you should listen to absolutely nothing I say, at least on matters of social justice. I have no standing. No way to relate. My color and gender nullify me, and it gets worse: I grew up in the suburbs. Dad made six figures. We had a backyard pool. From the 10th through 12th grades, I attended private school. So the only proper way for me to check my privilege is to realize that it blinds me to others’ struggles and should gag me during discussions about the right responses to them.
But wait. I’m gay. And I mean gay from a different, darker day. In that pool and at that school, I sometimes quaked inside, fearful of what my future held. Back then — the 1970s — gay stereotypes went unchallenged, gay jokes drew hearty laughter and exponentially more Americans were closeted than out. We conducted our lives in whispers. Then AIDS spread, and we wore scarlet letters as we marched into the public square to plead with President Ronald Reagan for help. Our rallying cry, “silence = death,” defined marginalization as well as any words could.
So where does that leave me? Who does that make me? Oppressor or oppressed? Villain or victim? And does my legitimacy hinge on the answer?
To listen to some of the guardians of purity on the left, yes….
At the beginning of this column I shared the sorts of personal details that register most strongly with those Americans who tuck each of us into some hierarchy of blessedness and affliction. So you know some important things about me, but not the most important ones: how I responded to the random challenges on my path, who I met along the way, what I learned from them, the degree of curiosity I mustered and the values that I honed as a result.
Those construct my character, and shape my voice, to be embraced or dismissed on its own merits. My gayness no more redeems me than my whiteness disqualifies me. And neither, I hope, defines me.

They rode the tiger. They used the tiger to attack their ideological enemies. Now the tiger is devouring them, and they still don’t have the discernment to identify the enemy or the courage to fight it.

SJWs always project

And what they are projecting is fear. Lots and lots of fear. SF-SJW David Gerrold rants on Facebook:

“After my initial flash of anger more than two years ago, I have said little about rabid puppies, sad puppies, and their pathetic efforts to stuff the various ballot boxes for awards.
Several reasons. I consider their “movement” to be a sad desperate effort by angry little men, and because I have more important things to do than invest energy in self-destructive attention-bores. And finally, because negativity in some creates negativity in others — the only way to win that game is to not play.
But while the rabid puppies movement in SF is a mostly unimportant flicker, eventually to be forgotten as a momentary annoyance, it still has to be seen as a symptom of something worse, the rise of neo-nazis tactics in the national conversation.
It’s no accident that Vox Bray and Milo Yiannazinuts are working off the same page. They are not “the alt-right” — that’s a euphemism. They’re not just assholes, committed to specific cultural disruptions, they’re shit-magnets, hoping to create power by attracting the worst of the worst
as followers.
This week, the so-called “alt-right” have revealed themselves to be the fault-right. They have paraded through the streets of an American city waving the flags of treason and genocide.
Americans of good will have the right to be concerned. We have the right to be frustrated. And finally, we have the right to be justifiably angry at the behavior of spoiled little white boys.
The tiki-torch marchers have revealed themselves to be political illiterates, historically ignorant, and little more than a cluster of desperate little wannabe bullies. Their shouts of defiance are intended to intimidate the rest of us into fearful silence.
It won’t work.
Okay, it’ll work for a while. This week’s exercises in torch-waving and dick-waggling will inspire other, equally silly demonstrations of disloyalty to the American ideal.
But eventually — and it cannot come too soon for me — the men and women who have actually taken an oath to defend the United States and its Constitution will be called upon to deal with this attempt to create a new Civil War.
If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would argue that there are groups in this nation committed not only to a new Civil War, but ultimately the destruction of the United States government and the Constitution, so that they can replace it with a theocratic fascism.
If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would trace all this back to the Fred Koch’s funding of the John Birch Society and I would point out that the game plan they’ve been following for fifty years can be found in the Blue Book and the Black Book of that group — the English translations of Mein Kampf.
If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would further argue that the failure of the police to act against these thugs is a result of a decades-long campaign to infiltrate police departments with white supremacists.
But one doesn’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to see the dangers inherent in the neo-nazi tactics of those who falsely believe that their time has come. They are an ugly political minority, a cancer on the American soul.
We have not yet found our new Gandhi, our new Martin Luther King, our new Harvey Milk — but there will come a day when the rest of us find our voice and draw a line in the sand. Perhaps we need not a single voice, but a whole chorus of voices speaking out, calling shame on those who have become enemies of the very nation that nurtured them and protected their freedom.
The United States is a nation of immigrants, it is a nation whose strength is diversity. The promise of America is liberty and justice for all. When the all of us are ready to confront the some of us, there will likely be violence, that’s what they are working toward, that’s why they are working themselves into a blather — but if the last Civil War couldn’t break the Union, I doubt very much that this latest rabble of desperate and pathetic little losers will accomplish anything useful, except perhaps to give themselves further reasons to fester in self-destructive bitterness. They are pathetic, desperate, fearful little men.”

Another thing I noticed. SJWs not only always project, they’re always waiting for someone else to show up and do their fighting for them.

If you’re Alt-Right, or even Alt-Lite, better get in the habit of practicing proper operational security. 16-digit randomized passwords on everything, different passwords for everything, and so forth. I doubt this is an accident given that it is just one day after Lana Loktoff was featured in a Harper’s piece on the women of the Alt-Right.
It looks like both their Twitter account and their main site was hacked, which suggests the same password was used for both.

The underperformers of Google

Further evidence that the Ivy League’s affirmative action is rewarding the undeserving and the underperforming:

A Google Research project indicating that underrepresented minorities and Ivy League graduates were more likely to receive softball interviews at the company was shut down by Google’s human resources department upon seeing the results, according to an insider.
The Google insider (alias “Chuck”), who worked at the company for several years, was part of a team tasked with determining which Google employees were most likely to succeed at the company based on their interview feedback.
According to Chuck, the predictive model they created determined that employees who received mixed feedback at the interview stage performed far better than those who received only good feedback.
Those who were most likely to receive only good feedback (“inflated interview scores,” in the words of Chuck) tended to be Ivy League graduates or underrepresented minorities. Those who were most likely to receive mixed feedback (and, according to the model, go on to achieve the most success at Google) were more likely to be white and Asian men who did not go to Ivy League schools.
The insider’s team had been tasked with the project by Google’s HR department, but according to him, they promptly shut it down once they realized its results would not serve their goals.

Google is an SJW-converged organization at war with reality. That is why it is doomed.
