Monday at 7 PM EST will be the closed Brainstorm session for February. I’ll be providing a detailed progress report on Operation Big Fork, throwing out some ideas for discussion concerning the next steps, and providing an update of the new developments with regards to Rabid Puppies and a few other things. The invitations will be sent out later today.

January Brainstorm
I’m sorry about the short notice, but if you’re in technology, this is a Brainstorm you do NOT want to miss if you are a member. Friday, 5:30 PM EST. Closed session, no transcript. We’ll be discussing the new projects that are underway, including the Big Enchilada, with a panelist who is working on an equally important project that every reader here will want to support. Invites go out shortly.
They’ve been busy
It’s great to see how David Lambert and Alexandra Hollingshead, among others, have been so totally absorbed with reading all my books over the holidays….
It’s a good thing Goodreads banned the Rabid Puppies group or people might engage in an organized effort to attack authors by lowering their ratings!
This is why we need to establish non-converged cultural institutions and ruthlessly work to keep the SJWs out of them. SJWs will always stack the deck and do their very best to use whatever power they can obtain, be it petty or significant, in the interest of forcing social justice on society. And anyone who challenges their Narrative will not only be attacked, but silenced, and stripped of their ability to defend themselves or respond in kind, to the extent that the SJWs are able to do that.
“Society should treat all equally well who have deserved equally well of it, that is, who have deserved equally well absolutely. This is the highest abstract standard of social and distributive justice; towards which all institutions, and the efforts of all virtuous citizens should be made in the utmost degree to converge.”
—John Stuart Mill, Utilitarianism, 1861
Fortunately, efforts on several fronts are already underway, and your help will be needed on some of them. We’ll be having the January Brainstorm as soon as I get a time and date from the panelist I’ve selected, and we’ll be discussing the current state of the project I’ve chosen as my top priority as well as the panelist’s upcoming project.
It’s going to be short notice, so be prepared for that.
UPDATE: By the way, note that for all their posturing, SJWs clearly hate it when you call out their reviews for the ideological trash that they are.
I do suspect you’re a fake profile, much like some of the other lice which crawled all over my reviews of Day’s stuff.
Always hit back twice as hard. Remember, they are fragile creatures of little accomplishment; in many cases these attack “reviews” are their only sources of pride.
Ilkotism
Two IT jobs in North Carolina:
We are looking for two senior level IT positions and are having a hard time finding good candidates. I would love to see the positions filled by members of the Ilk.
Senior Converged Infrastructure Engineer
In this case we are looking specifically for someone who is an expert in Compute-Unix/Linux specific and Storage-EMC specific. AIX/Red Hat, VMware, IBM Power, EMC Storage, VCE Vblock.
Senior Storage Engineer
7+ years of direct experience managing storage in a large enterprise environment. EMC experience is highly preferred, but possibly not required.
No remote option.
If you’re qualified and you’re interested, email me with a resume attached and I’ll forward it onto the relevant party.
On a tangential note, we’re going to have an IT-related January Brainstorm session soon. It will be closed; I just have to work out the date with the panelists.
The Game Dev course begins Saturday. I’ll send out the emails tonight.
December Brainstorm
Tomorrow night, December 30th, at 7 PM EST will be the closed December Brainstorm. Invites for members will arrive soon. We’ll be discussing a number of things I’m not going to disclose here; if you’re an Annual Brainstorm member and you want to be a panelist, let me know. I’m particularly interested in anyone with a law degree or IT development being on the panel.
If you’re interested in joining Brainstorm, you can do so here. It is essentially the strategic braintrust of this blog where I can bounce ideas off those who know the community well. I should probably mention that we have enough members that we’re not doing the monthly memberships anymore.
Brainstorm: Urban tactics survival
It was a very interesting session tonight, although it ended rather abruptly when my computer locked up for some reason. It ended up going into more detail on martial arts and the law than I would have thought beforehand, but then, both experts agreed that the single most important aspect of surviving a terror attack is mindset.
Even if THEY are attacking, YOU are the predator. Move. React. Escape if you can, attack if you can’t, but whatever you do, do not lie there motionless leaving all the initiative up to them!
The other thing I took away from it is that 12 feet is the line of delineation. If they’re more than 12 feet away, don’t assume they can hit a moving target. That’s just two body-lengths. It is a LOT harder than it looks, even with a fully-automatic weapon. 12 feet or more, exit laterally at speed. Less than 12 feet, attack forward.
Brainstorm: Urban survival tactics
There will be a closed Brainstorm event for Annual members only focused on urban survival tactics on Saturday; I’ve tentatively scheduled it for 7 PM EST. I am waiting to hear back from the two panelists I have invited, both of whom have extensive urban tactical training and military experience. We will be discussing the Paris attacks, the possibility of future attacks in the USA and likely targets, and what we in the West can realistically do about the reality of 4GW in our hometowns.
If you’re interested in signing up to be an Annual member, you can do so via the Castalia store. Benefits include a free pass to both the Game Dev and Business Startup courses.
Danger & Play Brainstorm
There was a little confusion as to time zones since Mike has been traveling. Just to be clear, the closed Brainstorm event for Mike’s new Embracing Masculinity book is on Saturday from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM Eastern.
And in Castalia House news, I wanted to thank everyone who made the following possible. We’re doing our best to bring you the best books we can find and publish, but you’re the core support required to make them successful. And while the categories may be a little on the esoteric side, in the long term, don’t count us out for one day doing the same in the larger categories as well. But for now, two simultaneous #1 bestsellers isn’t bad, especially when you only publish one book each month.
UPDATE: It’s also worth noting that in the Military Strategy category, Castalia House currently publishes five of the top 40 bestsellers.
Star Citizen and more
Tonight’s Brainstorm with Derek Smart is open to everyone. Is Star Citizen on track, in trouble, or something altogether else? If you’d like to get in on it, over 100 of the 500 seats are still available. You can register here.
Brainstorm with Derek Smart
As part of the ongoing efforts to provide this blog community, and the Brainstorm members, with added value, I am hosting an impromptu Brainstorm event featuring Derek Smart, the veteran game developer and Star Citizen skeptic.
We will be discussing what caused him to go from project backer to public critic, his own development history, including the notorious Battlecruiser 3000 AD, and his latest game, Line of Defense Tactics, on Saturday, November 7th, at 7 PM EST. I’ll also be asking him about some of the controversial statements he has recently made concerning Chris Robert’s record-setting development project. You can register for the event here.
In addition to being entertaining and informative, this should also provide those interested in the upcoming DevGame course with some idea of what the guest speaker aspects of the course will entail, as well as the nature of the Q&A sessions.
