The Swamp buries the evidence

BREAKING: I’m at the federal courthouse, and it seems that Imran Awan’s Plea deal says that he cannot be charged with any previous non-violent crime.

Wow, that’s a pretty sweet plea bargain. Those Pakistanis must really be incredible negotiators.

#WALKAWAY

It’s really encouraging to see how even liberal reporters like Amanda Robb of Rolling Stone and National Public Radio have come around to endorsing the God-Emperor and making America great again. But what, no American flag bikini? Amanda, where is your patriotism?

Rules are made to be broken

You all know the rule: DO NOT TALK TO THE MEDIA. Of course, as we all know, the rules do not apply to Pax:

A fortnight ago I was contacted by a Ms. Amanda Robb, who identified herself as a journalist. Having had a personal history of difficulty with unsavory wretches of that sort, and being a well-known proponent of a harsh criminal punishment for their un-American collectivist scribblings, I of course immediately recommended that Ms. Robb engage in a vigorous act of self-procreation.

Ms. Robb, however, would not be deterred. She (I did not ask her pronoun, regrettably, so I must assume) was earnestly seeking my comment regarding traditionalist superhero comic books and the manners and methods of aggregating funds for the production of such. The aggressively persistent Ms. Robb told me she is a journalist  for the widely known (none would say ‘popular’, but it is widely known) Rolling Stone magazine; which magazine, I learned, is not actually solely published for manipulative character assassinations of washed-up entertainers and the dissemination of libelous false rape accusations against innocent frat boys, but purports to do Actual Journalism. I questioned this ambition, of course, but Ms. Robb assured me that the former incautious Rolling Stone editors responsible for the recent libelous rape fiction had been quite thoroughly sacked after the massive financial settlement and had been replaced by a new crop of editors who were assuredly much cleverer about not being found responsible for making things up in any legally actionable way.

Upon perusing Ms. Robb’s prior work at Marie Claire, The Guardian and with The Investigative Fund of The Nation Magazine, which focused on baby-killing tips, a convenient debunking of investigations of elite pedophile rings, and Ms. Robb’s personal experiences with extensive plastic surgery, I could only conclude Ms. Robb must be undoubtedly amongst the finest of politically axe-grinding journalists working in stale Boomer left-wing pop music magazines today.

I explained to Ms. Robb that I have retired to the quiet life of a simple gentleman farmer, knew and cared little about comic books, and did not seek further attention from the media-propaganda complex. I further explained that I considered her employers and her “profession” (such that it is) to be distasteful at best and criminal at worst, and that I expected she might not have the best of intentions toward me given my knowledge about how modern journalism is done and my past experiences being a subject of the yellow press.

Oh dear. Oh, sweet Saint Sulzberger… you really have to read the whole thing! I have to say, though, there is one small niggling detail about this that puzzles me. What on Earth does good ol’ Pax have to do with comics in general and Arkhaven Comics in particular?

It’s really rather remarkable to what lengths they will go for a quote when no one is talking.

UPDATE: No means no!

Round of 16, Day 3

Precisely no one is surprised that Brazil beat Mexico, 2-0. But the Belgian defeat of Japan, 3-2, in the 94th minute was heartbreaking for Japan, given that they led 2-0 at the 55th minute. But, as Didier Drogba presciently observed during the group stage, Asian teams tend to overwhelm their opponents with their extreme effort for the first 60 minutes, then flag a bit, which allows the game to open up. This game was an almost textbook example of that.

Not in New York

New York City refuses to respect the Hollywood values of Harvey Weinstein:

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., today announced the filing of a superseding indictment containing additional charges against HARVEY WEINSTEIN, 66. Pursuant to the D.A.’s Office’s ongoing investigation, the Grand Jury has charged WEINSTEIN with an additional count of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree for a forcible sexual act against a third woman in 2006, as well as two counts of Predatory Sexual Assault, a Class A-II felony which carries a minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. [1]

The new charges are in addition to those contained in the previous indictment of WEINSTEIN on charges of Rape in the First and Third Degrees, as well as Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, for forcible sexual acts against two women in 2013 and 2004, respectively.

Darkstream: there is no alternative

From the edited transcript.

What we have to recognize when we’re talking about the Right is that the ideology that hitherto was the leading expression of right-wing politics in the United States, the conservative movement, is effectively dead. Donald Trump killed it.

And it’s not so much that Donald Trump killed it as he exposed the fact that it was an ideological zombie vampire, and the dates 1951 to 2016 that you see on the tombstone date from that first famous book of William F Buckley, the founder of the modern conservative movement, and its end with the presidential election of 2016. Because the legacy of conservativism is this: it never conserved anything! And that is the most damning thing that you can say about all the conservative organizations, all the conservative opinion leaders all the various Republican groups, all that kind of stuff, all of it was a failure. None of it conserved anything.

Conservatives couldn’t even conserve the ladies room. This is an illustration of how badly how completely the conservative movement has failed, and if you talk to a conservative, they love to talk about the Constitution, and yet what they always ignore is the purpose of the Constitution. We have seen that the Constitution has completely and utterly failed in its purpose, a purpose that is stated very clearly in the Preamble. The Preamble states that the purpose of the Constitution is to defend the rights of American posterity, and what “posterity” means is the direct genetic descendants of the people who established the country in 1789.

It does not refer to immigrants, it does not refer to refugees, it does not refer to the descendants of those immigrants who came over much later. You know, this is something that I got in some very intense discussions and arguments with various conservatives(1) who are genuinely good people, genuinely smart people, but they are entirely unable to wrap their heads around the fact that their friends, their family members, people they like, people they approve of, are not and never will be American posterity, and that the Constitution was not written for those people. It wasn’t. This is a basic fact, this is an established fact, and the amount of intellectual dishonesty and self-deception that one has to engage in in order to deny the very clear meaning of these words is rather remarkable.

So you know, now we see the same concept being expanded further and further, and what’s funny about conservatives is that while at the one hand they push away and they deny the actual historical meaning of various concepts, they also try to deny the obvious consequences of their own positions. You know, if you’re running around saying that because all men are created equal that 19th century immigrants therefore equal and their descendants therefore qualify as American posterity, then you cannot deny the position of Iranian president Ahmadinejad who says that America belongs to all the world and that the American government does not have any right or  any ability to deny the movement of people into the United States of America. That is the absolutely correct logical conclusion to the conservative argument.

(1) In the public sense, this primarily refers to my debate on Posterity with Tom Kratman. If you take issue with any of my assertions here, I strongly recommend that you read it first before commenting on this issue.

Immigration has consequences

NN Taleb address the problem of migration:

What intellectuals don’t get about MIGRATION is the ethical notion of SYMMETRY: OPEN BORDERS work if and only if the number of pple who want to go from EU/US to Africa/LatinAmer equals Africans/Latin Amer who want to move to EU/US. Silver Rule in #SkinInTheGame Gabish?

Controlled immigration is based on the symmetry that someone brings in at least as much as he/she gets out. And the ethics of the immigrant is to defend the system as payback, not mess it up. Uncontrolled immigration has all the attributes of invasions.

As a Christian Lebanese, saw the nightmare of uncontrolled immigration of Palestinians which caused the the civil war. & as a part-time resident of N. Lebanon, I am seeing the effect of Syrian migration on the place. So I despise these virtue-signaling open-borders imbeciles.

Pat Buchanan observes that the Fourth Wave immigrants are pushing the Second and Third Wave immigrants out of power in the Democratic party.

Just as Crowley’s congressional district had changed, so, too, has his party in Congress. Columnist Dana Milbank, who sees it as progress, writes, “A majority of House Democrats are … women, people of color or gay.” These rising forces in the Democratic coalition are looking to bury the Democratic Party of yesterday, where white males and older ethnic groups — Irish, Italians, Poles and Jews — were dominant.

Ask yourself this: why were those older ethnic groups dominant in the Democratic Party in the first place? Why, it’s almost as if they were practicing… identity politics? Of course, John Locke described the entire process as well as the debate that surrounds it, right down to the ex post facto rationalizations, back in 1690, in his Second Treatise on Civil Government:

No damage, that men in the state of nature suffer from one another, can give a conqueror power to dispossess the posterity of the vanquished, and turn them out of that inheritance, which ought to be the possession of them and their descendants to all generations. The conqueror indeed will be apt to think himself master: and it is the very condition of the subdued not to be able to dispute their right.

Mexico goes full Trotsky

It’s not enough to say that the victorious Mexican presidential candidate AMLO is a socialist. To be more precise, he is a socialist of the Trotskyite world revolution variety.

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has won the Mexican presidential election. Lopez Obrador, better known by his initials AMLO, will be the first candidate from the left-wing political coalition Juntos Haremos Historia to hold the Mexican presidency after Sunday’s election.

A late-night official quick count from electoral authorities forecast that Mr Lopez Obrador would win with between 53 and 53.8 per cent of the vote, a remarkable margin not seen in the country for many years.

His rivals, José Antonio Meade of the long-dominant centrist PRI party and Ricardo Anaya of the center-right PAN, both conceded the election shortly after polls closed.

US President Donald Trump congratulated Lopez Obrador in a tweet late Sunday: ‘Congratulations to Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on becoming the next President of Mexico. I look very much forward to working with him. There is much to be done that will benefit both the United States and Mexico!’

Lopez Obrador, 64, has fiercely opposed Trump’s policies on immigration, saying it is ‘a human right’ for people around the world to be able to resettle in America.

‘Soon, very soon, after the victory of our movement, we will defend migrants all over the American continent and the migrants of the world who, by necessity, must abandon their towns to find life in the United States; it’s a human right we will defend,’ Lopez Obrador said in a June speech reported by El Universal.

It’s going to be very interesting to see which conservatives finally abandon their ahistorical equalitarian-based civic nationalism and which follow Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, Moammar Gaddafi, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Sarah D’Almeida Hoyt to the logical conclusion that the contemporary United States is not a nation, but rather, an idea that belongs to all nations and that immigration to the USA is a basic human right.

This choice always going to be made. The logic involved was always remorseless and inescapable, all that was required was for events to catch up to it. That’s the core reason for consistent conservative failure; it reliably requires one to defend an illogical and intrinsically untenable position due to its basis in rhetoric rather than science, history, or logic.

And make no mistake, AMLO has a serious mandate for a headlong dive into revolution. His popularity is off the charts.

The 64-year-old former Mexico City mayor won with the widest margin in a presidential election since the 1980s, according to an official quick count that showed him taking more than half the vote — some 30 points ahead of his nearest rival.

SUPERLUMINARY: The World Armada

Castalia House is extremely pleased to announce that SUPERLUMINARY: THE WORLD ARMADA by John C. Wright is now available for Kindle and Kindle Unlimited.

Although the Lords of Creation survived the awesome onslaught of the world-killing space vampires, there is nowhere in the lifeless galaxy that they can hope to hide their planets and people forever. How can they hope to destroy what is already dead?

The vampiric necroforms are a massive empire of anti-life, terrible beyond all imagining, ruling a vast network of dead stars and planets they have drained of all life. Aeneas, the Emperor of Man, realizes that if the human race is going to survive, he is going to have to find a way to re-seed the entire galaxy with life while burning down the interstellar undead empire with the precious light it cannot bear. And not only does Aeneas have to do the impossible, he is going to have to do it while keeping a wary eye out for the ruthless betrayer at his back.

SUPERLUMINARY is the latest and most brilliant creation of science fiction grandmaster John C. Wright, the Dragon-award winning author of THE UNWITHERING REALM, THE GOLDEN AGE, MOTH & COBWEB, and AWAKE IN THE NIGHT LAND. THE WORLD ARMADA is the third and final book in the trilogy.

Rather like Awake in the Night Land, you cannot appreciate the full brilliance of Superluminary until you have read the whole thing and see how John C. Wright manages to pull the whole thing together on multiple levels. In my opinion, with Superluminary, John C. Wright firmly establishes himself as the greatest science fiction writer of his generation and one of the all-time greats. It’s the combination of brilliance, originality, and consistency that serves to elevate him beyond the likes of Neal Stephenson and China Mieville, both of whom are indubitably great SF writers, but unlike Mr. Wright, they simply do not manage to scale the literary heights again and again with such magnificent reliability.

I initially thought Superluminary was over-the-top fun, John C. Wright amusing himself by seeing if he could go the notorious Worldkiller one better. Then, when I reached the part about why faster-than-light travel is a very bad idea and why there has been such a mysterious lack of alien contact with the solar system, I realized that it was something deeper and darker than that. But not until finishing THE WORLD ARMADA did I grasp just how uniquely astounding is the work as a whole. And it is not a coincidence that every single one of the 41 reviews for the first two books in the series rate them both 5 stars.

From the earlier reviews:

  • Grand design space opera turned up to 11! For everyone who liked The Golden Age but thought it might have been just a bit too talky, this has the same over the top world building but starts off with the main character’s assassination…and then things start to get really wild.
  • What an amazing mind to think up this story (with all its intricate and entangled details) and then make it understandable!
  • Seriously, WAR DYSONS? I didn’t think he could do it. I didn’t think Mr Wright could take the already delightfully extravagant story begun in The Lords of Creation and make it bigger and wilder…. Oh ye of little faith, how wrong I was.
  • Spectacular classic space opera. If you know your classical SciFi and loved the family politics of Nine Princes in Amber, the weird super science of The World of Null-A, the immense galactic war of the Lensmen series, then you need to buy and read this book right away.
  • His best work since Awake in the Night Land.

Mailvox: shaking off the dust

A reader realizes that his church is politicized, cucked, and anti-Biblical. Time to find a new place of worship:

We’ve been attending a church for some time now that has pretty good doctrinal foundation, but there have been noticeable cracks.  I was content to stay for the time being, but today was the last straw.  After the worship set, we were subjected to a morbidly obese, unmarried, nose ring-wearing black woman, claiming the title and mantle of a Deacon, taking to the pulpit and instructing us as a congregation to have a time of special prayer on behalf of the children being separated from their families at the southern border.  She was sure to say “this is not political”, but then proceeded to levy Deuteronomy 10 in order to emotionally blackmail us, deceitfully using “sojourner” to represent permanent and illegal invaders. The Lord has a heart for these children, of course, and so should we, but the political implications and undertone were clear.

Furthermore, not once have I heard anyone take to the pulpit and ask for a special time of prayer for orphans in our own state or city.  Not once have I heard them ask for a special time of prayer for something that substantially affects our own community, such as the opioid epidemic.  Not once have I heard them address the severe negative effects that our society has borne (and will bear) due to mass immigration – from crime, physical and career displacement, increased debt/taxes, to the eventual collapse of federal finances due to the increased welfare, etc.  No, we had to have a special time of prayer over a mere 2,000 children that might have been temporarily separated from their “parents” as their bullshit asylum claims were adjudicated.  It was all I could do to not stand up and confront this shameful display by shouting her down.

The wife and I left immediately after, and are now seeking a new church home, however I have little hope that we would be able to find any American church that will boldly stand up for our own people first.  If I were so equipped, I would start one myself.  For now, the best I can do is to try and positively influence my family and friends to be aware about what is happening to our civilization, and do what we can to stem the tide.

If Christians would simply do a better job of a) following the clear instructions in the Bible, and, b) policing their institutions and organizations, this mass exodus would not be necessary. But for some reason, welcoming everyone is almost always accorded a higher priority than anything else, despite Paul’s explicit warning about wolves in sheep’s clothing.

The one thing I would recommend to the reader is to not disappear, but be sure he informs the pastor and the board of deacons why his family will not be attending that institution that used to be a church. Any church that has female priests, pastors, or deacons is already dead, I am not aware of a single example of a church that has adopted them that has not subsequently seen a rapid decline in both its teachings and its attendance.
