The Alt-Right Is Evil and Must Be Opposed

When called racist, the alt-right deflects by pointing to social justice warriors. Look at all these groups openly antagonistic to white people, they exhort. Look at the attacks on so-called “white privilege” and white men and white culture. How is it racist to push back against that?

They have a point, to an extent. Logically, it cannot be racist to oppose racism. To the extent social justice warriors are racist, and they are, they should be vehemently opposed. The problem with the alt-right is that they do not fundamentally oppose racial identity politics. They merely substitute one brand of it for another.

The Alt Right is not merely white identity politics. If it were, one would not see a Red Indian and a Brown Persian supporting it and embraced by it. But the Alt Right does accept racial identity politics, and for much the same reason we accept gravity.

Because that is the way that the world, and now the West, works.

This is an interesting tidbit from James Lileks, who I’ve read for rather longer than he’s read me.

Fun fact: while I was working at the St. Paul Pioneer Press, I would occasionally pitch in and edit a few pieces in the features section. One of them was a video-game review by this guy named Vox Day. Another fun fact: when I was writing for AOL in the late 90s, John Scalzi was my editor. So I’ve had tangential connections to both people on the absolute ends of the GamerGate spectrum. I’ve followed both as the years went on. The best thing about criticizing either is that neither cares a whit.

Can confirm, for myself, at any rate. But James doesn’t seem to grasp the simple and straightforward fact that history fades, whether we will or no:

If you asked me how I feel personally affected by the Holocaust, it would be about a one. Because I am not personally affected. But I care, because it’s a defining event of the 20th century. How important is it to remember it? Ten. Ten because it shows what the State can do. Ten because it shows where tribalism and race-hatred and Jew-hatred lead. Ten because it shows how a rational, cultured people can go off the rails entirely, except for the ones they build to the death camps. Ten because it shows how nationalism can curdle into the smelliest hatreds. Ten because it shows that technology does not bring enlightenment. Ten because it shows how smart guys with good degrees and a wife and kids at home are perfectly capable of designing the means to commit boundless atrocities. 

And that is all very well. But the serious problems the world faces today are not the result of a surfeit of nationalism, but rather a shortage of it. Pendulums always swing too far, and Holocaustianity has been used to justify some deeply pernicious acts that are bound to lead to tragedy, such as the Immigration Reform Act of 1965.

And while James sneers at the inevitable indifference of today’s teenagers to events that took place before their parents were born, I can’t help but note the fact that his reasoning is based on the idea that the Holocaust was “the defining event of the 20th century”, which is obviously false.  Not only is it not in the top 10 for the century, it’s not even #1 for the Jews.

That’s one telling line. The other is Vox’s distinction between Europeans and Jews.

I find that tremendously amusing. I live in Europe and that is not my distinction, it is a distinction that is made by both Europeans and Jews.

Mailvox: how to eject the Cult of Nice

JB asks how to go about restoring the worship of Jesus Christ to the nominally Christian church where the Cult of Nice has taken root:

My own church is not infested by SJWs, but it is solidly in the Church of Nice camp.  There have never been any horror story sermons such as those described by Dalrock on his blog, but the big ministry push is to send as many people to Mexico on “mission trips” as possible… and sometimes they bring natives back with them.  Also, the pastor expressly avoids “politics” in his teachings but routinely uses examples such as Jackie Robinson and Holocaustianity in his sermons.  I’ve never heard anything outrageous from the pulpit, but neither have I heard anything truly inspiring.  The best word I can think to describe my church and its leadership is “lukewarm.”

I used to think my congregation was fully Churchian, but in a weekly class on Christian Ethics I decided to stop being “Nice” myself.  We talked about standard political issues like economics, abortion, environmentalism, etc.  The leader was a well-meaning man but in his research prior to our discussion on immigration he apparently could find little Biblical support for immigration restrictionism.  At the beginning of the immigration class, he explained to everyone that he was originally anti-immigration but his research forced him to conclude that the Bible mandated open borders.  Fortunately, I reread Cuckservative the night before and (thanks in large part to you and John Red Eagle) systematically demolished his argument and built a Christian case in favor of immigration restrictionism.  My case was not “Nice” by any stretch.

However, rather than being excommunicated from the class because I dared say that Christians can morally support borders (a heresy in the Churchian mindset), I was invited to explain my position in more depth the next class and many people congratulated me and wished to learn more after the class was over.  Even the class leader seemed relieved to hear that a Christian case for immigration restrictionism was possible.  If there had been an SJW in the class, I would have been ejected.  Instead, I became a thought leader for the rest of the course and the class as a whole became less “Nice” and more “Christian” in the true sense.

This event led me to conclude that my congregation wants to be Christian but is Churchian out of ignorance and timidity.  This ignorance is shared at the top of our leadership.  No one appears to be fully SJW, but many do seem to believe that Churchianity is Christianity whether they like its repercussions or not.

I’ve been asked to help teach a discussion course next semester on why children raised in the church tend to leave it as they get older.  Of course, I believe the “Christian alt-right” explanation that modern Churchianity is poison and that a true Christian church would draw everyone back into the pews.  But I’m not sure using pure red meat such as Cuckservative immediately as a main text is as solid a strategy as using some softer stuff to build the students’ tolerance for alt-right theology.

How would you bring an ignorant, but apparently receptive, congregation back into the Christian fold from a surface-level Churchianity?

 Alt-right theology, now there is a simply terrifying term! Anyhow, I would start with a private meeting with the pastor first, and if he is supportive, with the elders next. It’s important to determine if you have an amenable authority or a hostile one before taking action, as that will significantly effect the way in which your campaign proceeds.

The next step would be to develop a program called “Back to the Biblical Basics” which the pastor could draw upon for his sermons and the Sunday School teachers and Bible Study leaders could utilize for their weekly activities. These subjects should be selected for undermining the various Churchian and Cult of Nice concepts that have gradually crept in over the years. Each topic should be based around a single Bible verse that contradicts or otherwise destroys the Churchian narrative, such as the way Matthew 15:25-28 destroys both the equalitarian and the immigrationist aspects of that narrative.

“Yes, Lord,” she said, “even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”

“O woman,” Jesus answered, “your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

I would welcome similar suggestions in the comments; I expect 10-12 would be the minimum to provide a foundation for the “Back to the Biblical Basics” program.

And JB’s instincts are correct. Christians steeped in the Cult of Nice should not be encouraged to read SJWAL or Cuckservative, much less the relevant Alt-Right sites. They are not ready for it. Instead, they should be asked, relentlessly, if the narrative position they are upholding is one of which the world approves or not, and if worldly approval of its positions is the primary objective of a Christian Church. For every argument they make, from “we must be welcoming” to “everyone is equal”, have a verse to hand that demonstrates it to be the extra-Biblical, non-Christian nonsense that it is.

The third step is to embrace the consequences. Some church members will acknowledge Scriptural authority. Help them grow in understanding, conviction, and courage. Other members will reject Scriptural authority, cling to the Cult of Nice, and will probably threaten to leave the church. Don’t try to talk them out of it, but rather, help them go, as per the example of Gideon. If church members are more of the world than of the Church, then they belong in the former, and not the latter. The Church has no need of numbers; just 12 Apostles were all that was required to shake the world.

Of SJWs and Saruman

He’s completely wrong. Denethor despairs, to be sure, but even in his despair he neither surrenders nor submits to Mordor. You do recall the grand scene when Denethor ends the siege of Gondor by opening the gates to the army of the Witch King, right? Of course you don’t, because it never happened.

Denethor despairs and commits suicide. Saruman, on the other hand, despairs, submits, and surrenders to Sauron, with the idea that by doing so, he can eventually achieve some level of influence over Sauron. Consider his address to Gandalf, after revealing himself to be Saruman of Many Colors:

“A new Power is rising. Against it the old allies and policies will not avail us at all. There is no hope left in Elves or dying Numenor. This then is one choice before you, before us. We may join with that Power. It would be wise, Gandalf. There is hope that way. Its victory is at hand and there will be rich reward for those that aided it. As the Power grows, its proved friends will also grow; and the Wise, such as you and I, may with patience come at last to direct its courses, to control it. It’s worse: Saurman, after preaching moderation, turns on his erstwhile allies and attacks them with words, then armies.

In other words, I was correct. Saruman is a true cuckservative.


The #AltRight will never join with that Power. We are the Men of the West and we will neither bow to Mordor nor listen to the mouths of its emissaries sent out to deceive the ignorant.

I’ve read your blogpost and I owe you an apology. I’d forgotten the post-Helm’s Deep stuff and you were right.

I’m not going to say there is absolutely no chance I will get something wrong about The Lord of the Rings, but let’s just say the odds are very, very, very low considering how many times I have read the books over the years. As a general rule, if it is a) Tolkien, b) economic theory, or c) computer games from 1980 to 2000, think twice, then think again before you call me out on what you think is an error.

The #MilRight is inevitable

Even Rod Dreher, among the cuckiest of cuckservatives, sees that civilization’s hope rests upon the Alt Right.

Middle-class male culture, at least white male culture, doesn’t know how to nurture a healthy masculinity. The middle-class white American church certainly doesn’t. Eventually, the provocations of Social Justice Warriors, especially when they are race-based, is going to empower the militant whites, especially those drawn to pagan masculinity, and they are going to do what the rest of us would not do: Fight. This, because the best — that is, those who want peace, civility, and tolerance — lack all conviction to defend the conditions under which we can have those things against their enemies.

Trump is a vulgar, crass, alpha-male brute. But he doesn’t care what SJWs and liberals say about him. He fights, and sometimes fights as dirty as they do. That’s not nothing. White liberal middle-class society and many bourgeois conservatives have demonized within themselves, collectively and individually, the instinct that would have given them the strength to fight civilization’s enemies on the Left and on the Right.

Forget the cucks, forget the Churchians, forget the equalitarians, forget the Constitutionalists, forget the conservatives, forget the nice people, and forget the tolerant. They are worse than useless; they are the Sarumans who counsel submission and surrender due to their lack of courage and their fear of being called bad things.

The answer to this racist SJW garbage is not to embrace white supremacy! But without a forceful, effective, unambivalent response to the unhinged militant left, sooner or later the forces of white supremacy are going to organize the dispossessed, demoralized, chaotic white rabble, and the SJWs, as well as the Washington elites, aren’t going to know what hit them. God knows I’m not saying I want this to happen, but I think it probably will happen if we continue on this current trajectory. Slouching rough beasts and all that. It’s Weimar America.

The answer isn’t white supremacy because white supremacy simply isn’t true. Whites are not superior, but whites are the only tribe willing and able to maintain Western civilization because they are the only tribe that truly values it. The answer for those who support Western civilization, regardless of sex, color, or religion, is to embrace white tribalism, white separatism, and especially white Christian masculine rule.

Detroit is what happens when white rule is abandoned. The migrant invasion of Europe is what happens when masculine rule is abandoned. And the EU is what happens when Christian rule is abandoned.

The other tribes have been playing “who, whom” for decades. It is time for whites to understand that the rules have changed and begin playing accordingly.

But don’t get too carried away by Dreher’s post. He’s still a cuck. “I would much rather my kids marry Ethiopians who were believing Orthodox Christians than marry fellow white people who aren’t. I really mean that.”

I believe he does. And that’s why he is still a dyscivilizationist.

The Internet isn’t fair

Neither is life. So what? Git hahd. Git gud. The New Femininity writes an essay on How to Defend Yourself From the SJW Mob:

Never assume anyone is going to be fair to you

No one is going to be fair to you and no one is going to sympathize with you. No one is going to give you the benefit of the doubt and no one is going to defend you because their default thought process is that you shouldn’t have touched the flaming hot stove if you didn’t expect to get burned.

My own husband didn’t have a lick of sympathy for me. He told me I was completely on my own. In fact, the only time he showed me any sort of empathy was months after when I told him I pressed full charges on my stalker against her professional license. He knew she went too far, and he fully supported my decision.

Bottom line is, people are not going to be partial to your sense of political justice in saying controversial things on the internet–because they themselves don’t want the trouble or expense of caring about something they believe you brought squarely upon yourself. It isn’t right and it isn’t wrong–it just is. People have jobs, their own lives, and their own multitude of problems. Don’t expect them to be fair, supportive or understanding in your willful decision to engage in your own personal crusade of online martyrdom–it’s your problem and they are under no obligation or duty to make it theirs.

On the flip side, when you find that rare individual who is willing to stand with you, who is willing to damn the torpedoes and defend you, you’d better appreciate what a gift you’ve been given.

That’s why so many people fear the VFM and the Dread Ilk. They know none of their tactics are going to work. They see the mutual loyalty that is the chief characteristic of the relationship and it scares them to death because they don’t know anything like it.

That’s also why it is useless to attempt to separate me from my social media allies. I’m not blind to their various idiosyncracies, (nor, to be fair, are they blind to mine) I simply don’t care because I know that I can count on them. Every single one of them has, at one point or another, put himself in the line of fire on my behalf when he did not have to do so.

This may be one more thing that separates the #AltRight from the movement conservatives. They are constantly jockeying for position and status and air time. We are far more concerned with mutual defense against the media and SJW mobs, and we genuinely celebrate each others’ scalps and successes. Take on one of us, and you can be pretty sure that at the very least, the others will at least fire a symbolic round or two in your direction.

How do you develop strong alliances? Mike Cernovich has already answered that. Look for those who need help and deserve it. Help them. Then repeat.
