So that’s settled

Richard B. Spencer ‏@RichardBSpencer
I might quibble here and there, but @voxday’s definition of the #AltRight is quite sound.

Richard was a great guest at Brainstorm tonight. The surprising – and frankly, somewhat alarming – thing, was the discovery that the noble Person of Color was somewhat more out there on several of the Alt-Right aspects we discussed than the No Good Very Bad Nazi White Supremacist With Great Fashy Hair.

One of the great strengths of the Alt-Right is that it is not only intellectually inclined, but that it is open-minded and honest. We didn’t agree on everything, in fact, it was clear that my outlook is considerably more pessimistic (or if you prefer, less pollyannish) than Richard’s. It’s also more European and ethnonationalist than his more American and civic-nationalist perspective.

But regardless, it was a good, substantive discussion.

Top 10 signs your kid is #AltRight

These three were my favorites:

  • They refer to you as a “cuck” when you put on FOX News.
  • They refer to their curfew as “the downfall of Western civilization.”
  • When you ask them which Disney or Pixar character they want to show up to their birthday party, they scream at you and say: “I only want Pepe!”

The Grey Lady shivers in her bloomers

The New York Times addresses the Alt-Right:

As Hillary Clinton assailed Donald J. Trump on Thursday for fanning the flames of racism embraced by the “alt-right,” the community of activists that tends to lurk anonymously in the internet’s dark corners could hardly contain its glee.

Mrs. Clinton’s speech was intended to link Mr. Trump to a fringe ideology of conspiracies and hate, but for the leaders of the alt-right, the attention from the Democratic presidential nominee was a moment in the political spotlight that offered a new level of credibility. It also provided a valuable opportunity for fund-raising and recruiting….

Although the alt-right tried to put its best foot forward, there was plenty of venom directed at Mrs. Clinton, and the conspiracy theories ran wild. A popular attack was the continuing effort to raise questions about her health.

 Matt Forney @basedmattforney
She’s winding down now. If she stays on stage any longer she might die. #AltRightMeans #AltRight #HillarysAltRightSpeech

By addressing the alt-right in such a prominent setting, Mrs. Clinton ran the risk of helping its cause. But Richard Cohen, the president of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups, dismissed the idea that Mrs. Clinton was doing the public a disservice by drawing attention to the alt-right.

“I think every public official ought to denounce racism, and that is what Secretary Clinton did,” Mr. Cohen said, noting that the alt-right ideology opposes the notion that all people are equal.

I think it’s interesting that the mainstream media is playing it pretty tame thus far. To be honest, the cucks and cons have been attacking the Alt-Right with considerably more vitriol than the mainstream media has to date.

My thought is that the conservatives are much more frightened of the Alt-Right than the Left is right now, because they know they are vulnerable to being replaced by it as the primary opposition to the Left. To the Left, on the other hand, the Alt-Right is actually seen as a preferable opponent, because it’s not even necessary to caricature us, we really believe many of the things they only claim the conservatives believe.

The Left is mistaken, of course, because their perspective is based on the current status quo, whereas the Alt-Right’s perspective is based on where the current trends are leading, and the likely reaction of the populace to those trends.

Playing the Buckley card

No one who has read Cuckservative, or, for that matter, SJWAL, will be surprised by the reaction of the conservative opinion leaders to the rise of the Alt-Right.

Erick Erickson‏@EWErickson
Conservatives must again go Buckley against the alt-right.

(smiles grimly)

That which is dead can never die, though we are well assured that the cucks will try.

The problem conservatives are facing is that they can’t kick out those who have already left. This reminds me of one SF-SJW’s wailing about me, which some of you will probably recall: “How do you bring the weight of community disapproval on someone who isn’t part of the community?”

Answer: you don’t. You can’t. Buckley doomed the Right’s chance to preserve America by reading out the John Birch Society from the conservative movement. He and his successors have purged everyone from Sam Francis to Ann Coulter, all of the most intelligent and foresighted political writers on the Right. Now the most talented and innovative minds on the Right want absolutely nothing to do with conservatives or conservatism; we know perfectly well what they’re going to do to us whenever we choose to believe our observations instead of their dogma.

Erickson is only one of many conservatives who don’t understand that the Alt-Right doesn’t give a damn about their sacred Constitution, their 10 Kirkean principles, their small government ideology that can’t get rid of a single federal agency, their immigration amnesties, and their conservatism that hasn’t conserved so much as women’s bathrooms. We don’t want positions at their think tanks, two-minute guest slots on Fox News, or book contracts from Thomas Nelson and Regnery for tedious my-eyes-glaze-over tomes with a picture of the author and an American flag on the cover.

Every member of the Alt-Right understands one thing: none of those efforts and none of that edifice matters one iota if the USA does not remain a heavily white country, because whites, and specifically, white Americans who are the posterity of the Founders, are the only people in the history of the world who have ever supported small government and individual liberty in statistically significant numbers.

Yes, it is certainly possible for an individual, of any race, culture, or heritage, to admire and accept and adopt the ways of another people. Hollywood loves to make movies about people who do sort of thing. But the observable fact throughout all of recorded human history is that those individuals are very rare. In fact, that’s why they make movies about them. No other people, from the very numerous Chinese to the very smallest American Indian tribe, have shown any interest in adopting and living according to the ideals of 18th century Englishmen, the Common Law, or the Rights of Englishmen, no matter how much they enjoy, appreciate, and attempt to appropriate the fruits of that culture.

And it is the height of absurdity to believe that they will see fit to permit others to live according to them in any society that is even remotely democratic, as we have already seen from the previous waves of immigration.

As one guy rightly responded: “Buckley had a nation that was 90% white, you don’t. That’s why you need to listen to us.”

More importantly, movement conservatives have proven, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that they will not fight for their so-called principles, not even limited government. So there is no reason to pay any attention to them at all. Whether they join Hillary Clinton and the Left in shooting at us or whether they suddenly begin playing “hello, fellow Alt-Righters”, we’re not going to follow their lead.

An actual Alt Right take

Richard Spencer contemplates why Hillary appears to be intent on increasing the Alt Right’s media profile:

Hillary is trying to push the GOP into permanent minority status by empowering the Alt Right—and, believe me, she will be empowering us today. The Alt Right is, in a way, what people wrongly accuse the GOP of being: a nationalist party for White people. Hillary’s Alt Right speech will try to force the GOP to become what it is.

At Milo’s party last month, I made an outlandish self-fulfilling prophecy: “We’ve taken over the Right.” The fact is, the mass media—and now none less than Hillary Clinton—want us to take over the Right.

In fact, they are going to help us do it, if only we would let them.

It’s an interesting take, although I’ve been saying that the GOP needed to become the White Party if it was going to survive. Otherwise, if it insists on trying to continue pretending to play ideological politics as the junior partner in the bi-factional ruling party, it will rapidly go the way of the Whigs in the new identity politics system.

In any event, we’ll find out if he’s right or not soon enough.

UPDATE: If you haven’t re-upped for Brainstorm yet, now is definitely the time. Invites will go out as soon as we can confirm the time, but Richard and I will be debating white nationalism, white supremacy, and whether there is room in the Alt Right for non-whites at a closed Brainstorm session tomorrow night, tentatively scheduled for 7 PM Eastern.

(((Ben Shapiro))) attacks the Alt-Right

The Littlest Chickenhawk is quick to sense the way the wind is blowing. And in case it wasn’t already abundantly clear, he wanted to stress whose side he isn’t on:

As one of the leading antagonists of the so-called alt-right, I’m often asked to define the movement. Like all movements, the alt-right actually has several strains – they’re an agglomeration of self-appointed radical culture warriors, disenchanted paleoconservatives, and open anti-Semites and white supremacists. They’re united by a distaste for what they consider to be “political correctness,” although they universally seem to mistake “PC” for “not being a complete ass.” And they consider any resistance to actual racism and anti-Semitism to be “cuck” cowardice and social justice warrior whining.

Many of the most public members of the alt-right are leftovers from Gamergate, the scandal that rocked the gaming community in which leftist reviewers saw fit to stifle and savage any video game (or science fiction and fantasy book) that didn’t hew to radical leftist tropes. As a way of trolling such leftists, many anti-SJW bloggers began using deliberately offensive language, then celebrating themselves for violating taboo. This has carried over to support for Donald Trump – many of these same people think that Trump’s unfortunate habit of saying terrible things is just high politics’ version of their own trolling, that he’s standing up to the regime of political correctness. He isn’t. He’s just a jerk. And so are they, for following along. The conflation between tweeting hook-nosed Jew cartoons at Jews and fighting against the scourge of political correctness, which prevents honest discussions of serious issues, actually damages the cause of political incorrectness….

Their philosophy, however, is totally foreign to conservatism. It supposedly champions Western civilization, but in pretending to do so, it tears away at its most foundational principles in favor of a white tribalism that provides an ugly counterpart to the left’s racial divisiveness.

Shorter (((Ben))): The Alt Right is mean, see how mean they are to me, and they’re NOT conservative either!

It’s true, we are mean and we aren’t conservative. It’s funny how they ALWAYS talk first about Milo, given that Milo is not Alt-Right and makes it very clear that while he is favorably inclined towards us, he is not actually Alt-Right himself. Of course, it’s probably difficult to talk reasonably about us at the same time that you’re running from debate with us.

Now, it is obvious that our philosophy differs from conservatism, although it is not as totally foreign to it as (((Ben))) is to America. We don’t hide the fact that the Alt-Right is an ALTERNATIVE to conservatism. It’s right there in the name. But we do not “supposedly” champion Western civilization, we actually do champion it, and more importantly, it falls to us to do so because conservatives, cuckservatives, and non-Westerners such as (((Ben))) have been lying about Western civilization’s foundational principles for over 100 years.

Western civilization rests upon three pillars: Christianity, the European nations, and the rule of law. A non-Christian, non-European lawyer such as (((Ben))) can neither speak for the West nor is likely inclined to defend it, indeed, (((Ben))) is simply following in the tradition of his tribal compatriots (((Emma Lazarus))) and (((Israel Zangwill))) in attempting to redefine the white Christian foundations of both America and the West on behalf of his own tribal interests.

White tribalism in America is not only necessary, it is the inevitable consequence of the success two invading tribes had in overturning the immigration standards in 1965. Not only did those who pushed the Hart-Celler Act lie to the American people about their intentions, as well as the obvious consequences of that 1965 revolution, they have subsequently attempted to hide their destructive actions behind an utterly false 20th century mythology concerning “the melting pot”, “a proposition nation”, and “a nation of immigrants”. For more details concerning the complete falsehood of this 20th century mythology, read Cuckservative, by John Red Eagle and me.

And understand this. If you believe that any of those concepts are foundational American principles, you are a confirmed historical ignoramus. Here is a hint: cite the earliest significant reference to any of those phrases with relation to the United States of America.

1864: “a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”
1908: “the melting pot”
1958: “a nation of immigrants”

The creedal mythology is obviously false, particularly in light of 120 years of naturalization laws, exclusion laws, and Supreme Court decisions that are entirely in line with the Preamble to the Constitution’s reference to posterity and the understanding that America was, and is, a white nation. How does one identify a “foundational principle”, not only of America, but Western Civilization, from a concept articulated and popularized by John F. Kennedy in 1958?

Earlier today, (((Cathy Young))) also attacked the Alt-Right on Twitter, in response to one of my tweets.

Supreme Dark Lord @voxday
#AltRightMeans Knowing American history and that both “the melting pot” and “a proposition nation” are lies.

Cathy Young ‏@CathyYoung63
#AltRightMeans agreeing w/the far-left that “all men are created equal” is not the real America but “whites only” is

Supreme Dark Lord ‏@voxday
#AltRightMeans understanding that the Preamble to the Constitution and 120 years of laws trump the Declaration of Independence.

Supreme Dark Lord ‏@voxday
@CathyYoung63 Since you believe all men are created equal, do you agree Palestinians and Arabs have the right to settle freely in Israel?

I know this will probably come as a complete surprise to all of you, but (((Cathy)))’s response was: *crickets*

She doesn’t appear to understand that if all men are created Americans, then it necessarily follows that all Arabs are Jews.

UPDATE: (((Ben)))’s response, unsurprisingly, is to cry Holocaust.

Ben Shapiro ‏@benshapiro
From @voxday, demonstrating the full toxicity of the alt-right movement, complete with anti-Semitism.

Supreme Dark Lord ‏@voxday
Not anti-Semitic. Pro-American. You don’t understand the difference. Proud Israelis such as (((Martin van Creveld))) do. #AltRight

The r/K perspective

Anonymous Conservative is dubious that the anti-Alt-Right campaign will have legs:

Now Hillary is calling attention to the most K-selected corner of the internet, at the very moment that the nation is increasingly turning K. Turning more people into Stefan Molyneux fans, or exposing more people to Castalia House Publishing, just as the nation is turning K, is not going to help Hillary. I think it a good sign that her persuasion specialists are so blinded by the rabbit-like psychology of the r-strategy that they are so completely out of touch with both the nation and reality.

Even better, it is a process that is accelerating. What they don’t realize is that as the nation’s rejection of them drives them more leftward, the psychologies of the nation are undergoing the natural shift toward K that was programmed in by nature. That is making the left vastly more repellant to everyone, the alt-right much more attractive, and leaves the left ever less able to understand the reality they need to understand to succeed. The political polarization created as the extreme left splits farther from the norm due to panic and the rest of the nation heads farther right on a K-shift, do not bode well for leftism’s ascent.

My guess is they will abandon this effort quickly, as soon as they realize that the nation has a large swath within it that will think this alt-right movement espouses a lot of commonsense things they find attractive, and the colorful personalities are very appealing. The alt-right hasn’t gotten this far for nothing.

Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Team Clinton was already rethinking the wisdom of this approach given the Alt-Right’s gleeful reaction to the news that they’d be coming under media assault. After all, we all know how the anti-GamerGate campaign worked out for Gawker.

What the Alt Right is

In the interest of developing a core Alt Right philosophy upon which others can build.

  1. The Alt Right is of the political right in both the American and the European sense of the term. Socialists are not Alt Right. Progressives are not Alt Right. Liberals are not Alt Right. Communists, Marxists, Marxians, cultural Marxists, and neocons are not Alt Right.
  2. The Alt Right is an ALTERNATIVE to the mainstream conservative movement in the USA that is nominally encapsulated by Russel Kirk’s 10 Conservative Principles, but in reality has devolved towards progressivism. It is also an alternative to libertarianism.
  3. The Alt Right is not a defensive attitude and rejects the concept of noble and principled defeat. It is a forward-thinking philosophy of offense, in every sense of that term. The Alt Right believes in victory through persistence and remaining in harmony with science, reality, cultural tradition, and the lessons of history.
  4. The Alt Right believes Western civilization is the pinnacle of human achievement and supports its three foundational pillars: Christianity, the European nations, and the Graeco-Roman legacy.
  5. The Alt Right is openly and avowedly nationalist. It supports all nationalisms and the right of all nations to exist, homogeneous and unadulterated by foreign invasion and immigration.
  6. The Alt Right is anti-globalist. It opposes all groups who work for globalist ideals or globalist objectives.
  7. The Alt Right is anti-equalitarian. It rejects the idea of equality for the same reason it rejects the ideas of unicorns and leprechauns, noting that human equality does not exist in any observable scientific, legal, material, intellectual, sexual, or spiritual form.
  8. The Alt Right is scientodific. It presumptively accepts the current conclusions of the scientific method (scientody), while understanding a) these conclusions are liable to future revision, b) that scientistry is susceptible to corruption, and c) that the so-called scientific consensus is not based on scientody, but democracy, and is therefore intrinsically unscientific.
  9. The Alt Right believes identity > culture > politics.
  10. The Alt Right is opposed to the rule or domination of any native ethnic group by another, particularly in the sovereign homelands of the dominated peoples. The Alt Right is opposed to any non-native ethnic group obtaining excessive influence in any society through nepotism, tribalism, or any other means.
  11. The Alt Right understands that diversity + proximity = war.
  12. The Alt Right doesn’t care what you think of it.
  13. The Alt Right rejects international free trade and the free movement of peoples that free trade requires. The benefits of intranational free trade is not evidence for the benefits of international free trade.
  14. The Alt Right believes we must secure the existence of white people and a future for white children.
  15. The Alt Right does not believe in the general supremacy of any race, nation, people, or sub-species. Every race, nation, people, and human sub-species has its own unique strengths and weaknesses, and possesses the sovereign right to dwell unmolested in the native culture it prefers.
  16. The Alt Right is a philosophy that values peace among the various nations of the world and opposes wars to impose the values of one nation upon another as well as efforts to exterminate individual nations through war, genocide, immigration, or genetic assimilation.
TL;DR: The Alt Right is a Western ideology that believes in science, history, reality, and the right of a genetic nation to exist and govern itself in its own interests.

The patron saint of conservatives, Russell Kirk, wrote: “The great line of demarcation in modern politics, Eric Voegelin used to point out, is not a division between liberals on one side and totalitarians on the other. No, on one side of that line are all those men and women who fancy that the temporal order is the only order, and that material needs are their only needs, and that they may do as they like with the human patrimony. On the other side of that line are all those people who recognize an enduring moral order in the universe, a constant human nature, and high duties toward the order spiritual and the order temporal.”

This is no longer true, assuming it ever was. The great line of demarcation in modern politics is now a division between men and women who believe that they are ultimately defined by their momentary opinions and those who believe they are ultimately defined by their genetic heritage. The Alt Right understands that the former will always lose to the latter in the end, because the former is subject to change.

The 16 Points in other languages:

The rise of the #AltRight

James Delingpole explains it, and why the #AltRight is not wrong, in The Spectator:

Should more mainstream conservatives be worried by this? Well yes, of course, but they have largely themselves to blame. It’s why the alt-right refers to them disparagingly as ‘cuckservatives’ — that is, cuckolds whose spinelessness, compromise and me-too virtue signalling has enabled the social justice warriors of the progressive left to take so much territory.

You could argue that what has happened to conservative politics is not dissimilar from what has happened in Syria and Iraq: when there’s a lawless space, a power vacuum is created which sucks in the most aggressive and committed players and in the process crushes all the moderates.

The alt-right are, if you like, the vigilantes of conservatism. The regular authorities didn’t do their job to protect the conservative community from the marauding gangs of social justice warriors (think Mao’s Red Guard — only with hipster beards or feminist–blue hair) strutting round the neighbourhood enforcing their oppressive rules. So the alt-right stepped in instead. And are now preparing to claim the spoils.

Or as Red Eagle and I put it in Cuckservative: How “Conservatives” Betrayed America:

What is now taking place in Europe is a microcosm of what is happening, on a larger scope and timescale, in the United States of America. Although the European population of 508 million is larger than the U.S. population of 320 million, the 28 member nations of the E.U. fit into about half the land taken up by the 50 united States. Moreover, unlike the heterogeneous American “nation of immigrants”, the European nations are homogeneous and distinct, with long histories, traditions, and collective memories that stretch back for centuries. That is why a much smaller number of immigrants arriving in a much shorter period of time has triggered the powerful nationalistic response that is already overturning governments and will ultimately shatter the European Union.

That is also why it is important to realize that the same divisive process is well underway in the United States, albeit at a larger order of magnitude. And one of the tragic ironies of American politics is that it is the very group of people who most proudly proclaim their loyalty to the U.S. Constitution and to the traditional values of America’s founding fathers, conservatives, who have helped lead the way to America’s decline and eventual collapse. They have done so by forgetting the central purpose of the very document they revere.

The Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America contains an extremely important phrase that is almost always ignored by those who appeal to it, or to the men who wrote it, in defense of immigration. It states:

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The key phrase is this: “to ourselves and our posterity.” The blessings of liberty are not to be secured to all the nations of the world, to the tired and huddled masses, or to the wretched refuse of the teeming shores of other lands. They are to be secured to our children, and their children, and their children’s children.

To sacrifice their interests to the interests of children in other lands is to betray both past and future America. It is to permit an alien posterity, like the newly hatched cuckoo in another bird’s nest, to eliminate our own, and in doing so, defeat the purpose of the Constitution. It is, like the cuckolded husband, to raise the children of another man instead of one’s own sons and daughters.

It is, in a word, cuckservative.
